Give the old guy a distraction, make him drunk, something to explain this nonsense.
They could've had more fun with the Church scene. Catholicism is the ultimate zombie religion. Not only is Jesus a zombie, he also acts as our human, as we, the zombies, eat his flesh and drink his blood.
Instead we get the hero's monologue, which draws heavily from the big book of movie cliches. Rule: when a hero appeals to God in a dire situation, he must start off with "Look, I know we haven't been on the best of terms..."
I think I'll keep watching and treat the show as subtle farce, like a couple of the writers are secretly goofing the genre but the rest don't notice.
