rick got principles imo. he wanted the walkie talkie and to save the redneck. he just used the guns to convince the others that he should go. and it doesn't exactly seem like a bunch of geniuses in that camp.

Phildo,

It isn't like you go an infraction or anything- but yes, it would be considerate to those looking to avoid spoilers to keep the events in the comic books in spoilers.

pretty sure that getting it on your skin doesn't turn you into a zombie, it has to get into your bloodstream. Although, getting it in your EYE seems like a bad idea. They should all be wearing goggles all the time. I would be.

We have no evidence either way. However its dead and diseased rotting bio waste. You wouldnt want it in your eyes regardless of zombie origin.

3 episodes in and some still don't know the main character's name?

So it's like AIDS or some communicable disease. At first I was thinking more like an acid (don't let it touch you anywhere). I get it now

Meh, this series is not living up to the coolness of its premise/the awesome pilot/the quality of the zombie work.

Also, as a proud geek I am offended by the term being used as a zombie nomenclature.

The characters are just cartoons.

I was talking to a friend today who's movie taste I generally respect and was surprised to find she hated (Frank Darabont directed) The Mist. I really liked it. Her main complaint with it was that the characters were basically like cartoons. Just exaggerated character tropes. I don't remember thinking that when I saw it a few years ago but it's consistent with a lot of the complaints itt. Maybe that's just Darabont's thing, whether he means to do it or not.

My initial reaction to Racist Guy was "this character is a cardboard cut out and it feels like lazy writing." Possibly still true. But I do find it interesting that people demand that their TV characters be complex and nuanced when, in reality, a lot of people in the world are about as one-dimensional as some of the cartoonish characters in this show. Obv, you want your protagonist to be complex, but I guess I don't really mind side characters being exaggerated or one-dimensional if it helps build a better story bc, like I said, you find those people in real life all the time.

Yes. Such an awesome ending to an average movie.

Also: I just watched 127 Hours.
I saw this too and realized how odd it was that in one weekend I watched two filmed instances of people hacking their own right arms off for survival. American gore ftw.

Well, it *is* based on a comic book.

Normally, the lack of deep character development might bother me too, but there's enough interesting stuff going on in the apocalyptic setting and the story to keep me going. And there's something I really like about the cinematography(for lack of a better term) too.

i think he was trying to portray compassion to the brother... i mean after all they did leave the guy there.. and it was obvious he was becoming disillusioned from the tragic situation around him and was starting to lose it

Yeah he needed to be put under control but not left out there to die of thirst chained to that pipe. Im not saying that the character's roots are not racist because obv they are but they were being amplified by starting to get delusional prob from exposure to the elements. (I thought this was obvious from the way he was taking fun shots on top of the building)

Im sure the walkie talkie and guns were an afterthought like oh yeah we need to get that too but why not lead with showing compassion first.... after all human beings especially a good law enforcer should have morals and compassion for others not everyone could be a heartless prick that only likes to focus on the negative and actually thrive from it and will die a lonely prick.

Hopefully the characters will be fleshed out over time and turn out to be more complex than their first impressions. Its a 6 ep season and we are up to like 20 characters already and are half way through. There is only so much they can cover, arguably they could have gone another way with the show, but it has barely scratched the surface and they dont have time to slowly drip out character details.

Edit, right now i care more about the story and the general world itself. Give me a solid 5 or 6 main characters which we seem to be getting and the rest can be paper thin for all i care, provided the story is there to balance that out.

I'm kind of bummed that the black guy and his son were only in the pilot. They are still the most fascinating characters three episodes in, and I'd rather take several more scenes of them than more stuff with the wife-beater and the laundry girls.

Seems highly likely they might show up next ep, he obviously has plans to keep in touch with them.

It was def done in a sketch sort of way and in shanes argument it could be because it was so they dont risk their lives going back in for him... regardless I think the boy is gonna be the one to let the cat out of the bag regarding the relationship they had.

Not a spoiler. In the three episodes I've seen, they have only been in the pilot. Doesn't mean they won't come back.

With such a slow paced episode they could have easily fit in a couple scenes of the father and son making their way to ATL. Would have been an improvement IMO.

I thought the fact that the father was shooting at the zombies out of his bedroom window was implying that the father and son were dead. Their house was surrounded by zombies, with only more coming as a result of the gun shots, there is no way they would make it out.
