I enjoy this show very much, though I'd like if somebody would explain me a couple of things>
1. After Ragnar's trial, when he was found innocent, what was that ambush about at the inn? They stab the huge blond warrior than they enter the inn and get their asses kicked. Then, nothing happens for a while. The Arl just sent a meek assassination attempt and nobody gave a crap, not even he apparently? This leads to my next question
2. After a few, i guess weeks, of silence, the Arl arrives at where Ragnar lived and starts butchering the people. WTF? If i understood correctly, at that point he had a farm, not a village. Dindt all those men belong to the Arl rather than Ragnar? And leading up to this it seemed that the vikings are abiding their own laws by the book, and than just a random assassination attempt and a slaughter of a village, and nobody cares?
3. How could 3 ship worth of viking which even by optimistic estimation is less than 100 men hoped to beat the King of Northumbria? If it was Spartacus I wouldn't even ask, but again, till that point it seemed to me, that it's fairly realistic, and it's not 1 viking is worth 10 of anything so the odds are actually in our favour. Why not say it was 10 ships? No need to show that many, just imply.
4. Did the vikings of old really sacrifice their own warriors like goats to the gods?
I really wish I had grown up with a religion where I could go to a religious festival and eat out of a bowl of shrooms with all my people. Color me jelly.
Also I thought the preist was gonna get some at some point. Kinda disappointing.
I am really worried that something could happen to Ragnar tonight. Simply because it was originally a 10 episode run and they didn't know they were going to get picked up for a second season. so unless they went back and changed everything or there is nothing crazy happened to begin with he could get got. I don't know it just makes me nervous....
Last ep felt like a soap. I guess they just went for character development since they got a second season and all. but I almost fell asleep. I thought it would be a lot more exciting for a season finale. especially since we don't get another taste until 2014. Meh.
Is Floki imitating Ragnar's acting style, or is Ragnar imitating Floki? They're both perpetually on the verge of laughing at a joke no one else is aware of. Not that I mind. I'll take that over Lagitha's perpetual serious face any day. I just wonder if there's any historical basis or purposeful direction in Ragnar being jester-like whenever he deals with people in higher positions.
The guy cast as Rolo seems to be the perfect choice to portray a lumbering oaf.
Pretty great show. All the visuals when they're traveling somewhere new have been awesome. If I were a cable network executive I would be looking to hire the Vikings show runner for his next project.
Nope we're waiting for next year. Maybe the original do ten was slashed since there's a season 2. Or it's just 9 show season. I heard a few different times it was ten Eps. Oh we'll till s2 I guess
According to wiki they got renewed for s2 only on April so I'd guess the finale was intended completely different but then they had to quickly change it for there to be continuation of the story.
Shows dont write themselves a finale in their first season in case they are not renewed.
The show has had consistently poor pacing, rushing along at breakneck speed and then stopping at a weird point isnt all that surprising all considered.
