Maybe he would've stayed king for awhile, maybe he would've stayed king for his whole life. When you start thinking about his son being king too, it gets real sketchy. Maybe his family has been in charge for generations.

As viewers we get to see way more of Ragnar's true feelings than Horik did, and even we can't say with any accuracy how long Ragnar would've remained loyal to Horik. Ragnar is super ambitious - what if he eventually feels like Horik is holding him back? It's hard enough to predict what Ragnar will do over the next 2-50 years, it's impossible to predict what Ragnar's sons will do.

Not to mention that Horik was justified in wanting revenge against Ecbert and Ragnar stood in his way. Not wanting a former enemy like Jarl Borg (iirc Horik was fighting Borg long before Ragnar entered the picture) to share in the spoils was a mistake, but an understandable one.

Donal Logue did a great job portraying the character and I think he was written as a smart capable king who did what he had to do but ended up on the losing side of history. From an acting standpoint I found him to be much more regal and "king-like" than Ragnar is currently.

erm I have the feeling that Ragnar would be the kind of king that favors cooperation as long as other people don't backstab him. idk how big their land was but i feel they had to be big enough for two kings eh? as for the last point I feel that is intended- Ragnar came from very humble roots so he's more good ole boy than king. As you are saying though very long term if your worried about what will happen generations or decades down the line sure this was probably one of the best spots to get rid of Ragnar but I feel that getting him to actually trust you and staying trust-worthy would have shown huge benefits too.

I feel like the brutality he showed king horic when he killed him shows how sick he is of people trying to take him down- he's like ffs another jackass trying to kill me I just want to get along with these people and show them that we can do more by cooperating.

Why did Floki visit Rolo and force feed him the non-poisonous mushrooms?

Medicinal purposes imo.

Notice he was up and moving around after. And his pre trip chest slap.

Loved the premiere. Already got a cool battle scene and I expect many more this season. I really love the way this show is shot. It has a nice gritty feel and they do a great job setting up so many outdoor sets.

Lagertha looking good this season.
Tonight's episode seemed stranger than usual. What was going on with Rollo and the other guy, were they high on something? What was happening to the dude whose arm Floki cut off? Is he dying from some sort of battle wound?

Dude in Kattegat who hurt his hand, was that Keamy from Lost?

Best episode of Vikings so far imo. The rat man makes a very nice addition to the show, i hope he isnt gone very soon.

Katheryn Winnick is such a smoke show.

At the end of episode 2 they showed the priest with his hands bleeding

Seemed out of place and now im even more confused.

The preview of the next episode looks so good. I really hope Ragnar and the king become bffs. But obviously its not going to happen.

I really like the series but those fighting scenes were ridiculous.

1. Two armies on different sides "Why are they only fighting my uncle"
2. They approach a mountain unseen. Ok.
3. Then the princes force much bigger than the force they fought on the hill, just sits there doing nothing. Not only that but instead of going to the highest ground where a charge is easy to defend they are on the lowground(Starcraftterm, no idea what the proper english word is) where they can get picked of by archers.

These things were intentional. They had super terrible command. It wasn't ridiculous, by definition.

Athelson had a lot of close calls but I guess it was bound to happen. I guess the next thing is either Ragnar goes back to Wessex for revenge or goes to Paris for plunder.

Yeah, at some point in junction, he was going to get got. Tbh, last night was the first episode that I kind of faded out of, didn't really hold me captive. But then the ending happened, and BANG, I was sucked back in, and everything made sense.

Regarding what the seer said last episode. Did he just spoil the ending for us ?

Is Ragnars brother going to inherit his plunders?

At the time when he is having murderous thoughts of Ragnar the seer is telling him that if he only knew what the gods had in store for him, he would be dancing like a mad man or something like that.
