Same creator as Showtime's The Tudors with a pilot directed by a veteran Breaking Bad director. Gabriel Byrne plays the villain. Sepinwall gives it a high initial rating of B+, so it looks like it's worth giving a try.

I thought it was decent. There were a couple good scenes but nothing seemed awesome other than Katheryn Winnick playing a bad ass hot viking.

Didn't seem like much of a crew could fit on that ship lol. Don't know about his buddy turning skeevy. The actor who plays the ship builder is the brother of the guy who plays Eric Northman on True Blood. Man did that guy end up getting a raw deal from his genes. He's even the younger brother by four years.

Show is pretty awesome and looks like it has a lot of potential but i love medival type of stuff. The main guy was the last actor to work with Patrick Swayze, dont know if you guys caught that.

My biggest problem with the pilot is that hero acquires three major technological innovations (sundial, sunstone and ship design). I realize, based on his brother's reactions, that he's been collecting magic beans for years. However, getting this all together seems a bit of a stretch...

I plan on watching this as the season ends, but I do have one question:

Is this rated R or TV-MA? That won't change whether I watch it, but it will change the speed of when I start

Pretty much this. The dynamic between father and son is good also. Lets just hope he doesn't get his head chopped off in the first season.
