I actually saw the first hour back in April and it looked really good even though it was a rough cut without the special effects.

I was part of a screening.

I should clarify that some special effects were in place, but the dome wasn't.

To prove I've seen it, wait until you see what the dome does to a cow.

For those who don't want to know.

Spoiler:
A cow is cut in half lengthways when the dome comes down and you see the insides of the cow as one half slides to the ground.

I've been waiting for this since I saw the 1st commercial several months ago. I really hope they keep as close to the book as possible even though I didn't care for the way it ended. I didn't mind the set up for the ending. I just didn't care for the way it actually played out.

I think that 11/22/63 could be an awesome big budget movie if they got the right people to produce/direct and act.

The Dark Tower has been "in the works" for several years and I'd love to see it get made. I know at 1 time(around 2007) JJ Abrams was set to direct it then he backed out. They tried to get Ron Howard involved but couldn't work out a deal. Last I heard/read was Warner Bros still owns the rights and they want to make the 1st movie and then have the rest of the series run on HBO. Russell Crowe has signed on to play Roland but the longer it takes to get made the less likely he'll play the role. I'm not sure if he'd want to wait around +6yrs to make a movie.

Actually, the most recent info from the SK website is that Howard wants to move forward with The Dark Tower as a Netflix exclusive once he finishes with Arrested Development, but nobody knows how long that will take.

I think the future of The Dark Tower will lie very heavily on what type of numbers UTD pulls in

For reference, from May 6th

"Several internet news sources including IndieWire.com have posted that Ron Howard and Ted Sarandos of Netflix have casually discussed producing the series for the service after Arrested Development concludes.
Ted Sarandos had this to say about the possibilities. "I spoke to Ron about ['The Dark Tower'], actually. The last time we talked about it the thing was being kicked about HBO – but it’s no longer there. Once 'Arrested Development' gets through we’ll keep talking about it.”.

While Netflix has expressed initial interest, it should be noted that HBO is no longer attached to the television property.

It is unknown if Media Rights Capital, the producers of TED, are still interested in the film property.

We'll continue to keep an eye on the production. If anything official happens, we'll confirm it in our standard news."

So it appears HBO is now out completely

It's good to see there's still interest in making TDT. Not too sure how I feel about Netflix being involved though. Howard being still being involved sounds good.

It's been a while since I checked on info for it so I wasn't positive about what was happening.

Based on the quality of House of Cards, I'd be optimistic about Netflix being involved.

Right, and with how well Ron Howard has done with Arrested Development, having his backing is a great plus. So long as the casting is done well, it could be a very very strong series

Amazon paying CBS whopping $750,000 per ep for UNDER THE DOME.

Thats really good news for us who want to see this succeed. Amazon backing the show to that extent means they are very excited by what they have seen and heard and consider the show a selling point for Prime.

I really really hope Norris knocks this out of the park.

Rennie is by far one of my favorite all time SK villains, and I can't imagine a better casting decision. I cant wait to see him turn it up to 11 when he needs to

How ironic is it that CBS, a network that hates giving options in relation to their high rated shows, takes a show that has a moderate budget and makes it profitable via other means before it even airs? That's the kind of model that can make Saturday programming viable again (it obviously makes summer programming immediately viable). I was definitely impressed by what they've done with selling the show to other avenues. Of course, Under the Dome is a very specific case, so it's unlikely they'll be able to pull the same rabbit out of the hat, outside of genre type shows, for other programming.

If the show hits like a 1.2 CBS will probably be turning back flips.

Not too bad for the 1st episode. It still had the typical Stephen King low budget feel to it though.

My only complaint so far is with Junior Rennie. He seems like a totally different character than from the book. Maybe it's just Alexander Koch's acting. I don't get the character's book vibe from him.

This seems like the type of thing book readers shouldn't watch or compare. It just sounds like they took the dome part and few names and did what they wanted.

On Sepinwall podcast they felt it looked fine.

looks like it can be a good show but like all sci-fi kind of shows on network tv it wont last long at most 2-3 seasons if they're lucky.

Holy ****

There was enormous news on dominant CBS, which scored a stellar 9.2 rating/15 share in the overnights for the series-premiere of highly promoted science fiction drama “Under The Dome” at 10 p.m
