I guess at least in his scene in S3 EP1 he may be communicating with Cooper from the White Lodge, as his scene is in B/W and he says to Cooper something like "You are very far away"

I'd have to rewatch ep3 again, but iirc he pretty much just got whisked away from the black lodge to the white lodge where he met Ronette and the other woman and played with the bell/numbers thingy?
He did go first to the box in NY when he left the Black Lodge, so some other force may have directed him from the box to the White Lodge (if that's what it is) at that point.

Quote:
c) Is it just me or didn't it seem like something was terribly wrong with the white lodge in those ep3 scenes? It kinda seemed that the black lodge had quite the upper hand and everyone we saw inside the white lodge were just really creepy and suffering
Makes sense, with the evil mother figure that vomited Bob banging on the door trying to get in.

Quote:
-When I first watched the scene where the sleeping girl ate the frog-insect, I too assumed it must have been Sarah Palmer. But I don't think that really makes any sense, because:

a) Everything we saw surface on earth on that night was dark forces, and I don't think we saw anything Laura-related after the scene when the orb was sent to Earth via the projector thing in the white lodge

b The girl was just credited as "the girl" in the end credits. So far Lynch has given everyone a name even if we haven't learned their identity yet, such as the Horne kid and a few others. I really don't think Lynch would not have made it clear that was Sarah Palmer if that was the case
No clue who the girl is but the Frog thing clearly wasn't Laura. If anything it was Bob's original form - egg looked like the chunks vomited by the mother figure, apparently its hatching summoned the got-a-light guy who seemed to be working in tandem to find it a host, and at one point in the original series (or FWWM?) Mike says Bob is like a parasite.

I think that the box in NY was part of Evil Cooper's scheme to not got pulled back into the Lodge. He maybe hoped that Dale would get stuck in the box in NY but somehow (maybe because of the sacrifice of Tracy and the other guy) it failed. I may be overstating the extent of Evil Cooper's ability to build such a complex criminal/magical operation so quickly.

My reasoning about the Black Lodge/ white lodge divide is that it's a lot more porous than we may think, and so the Giant can be at several places at once etc...

I'm wondering if the ash guys actually removed Bob from Evil Coop to insert him in someone else. If so the hit-and-run Horne kid would be the obvious candidate.

When Evil Coop woke up after being shot and giving birth to Bob, he still had black eyes, so he must still be evil...

That NIN song was awesome, too...very shoe-gaze.

What an amazing piece of art this episode is...

I don't want to overanalyze this show. I feel like Twin Peaks was always more about mood, and to be absorbed, rather than fully understood. Like Dom said, it's more art.

I'm kind of the opposite I guess. If something absorbed me, or its mood captured me, if it is proper art then I feel analysing it is necessary.

I mean I got no problem analyzing the "art", but i'm just not going to get caught up in the plot or how it all logically fits together

Hell, you have a woman who walks around carrying and talking to a log.

I understand what you mean since the recent posts in the thread, at least mine, are more speculative musings about plot points that do not really matter.

What I disagree with in your last post are two ideas :

1)The idea that you could have an interesting discussion about art, for example in the case of a TV show, without first starting with the plot elements. Kind of like writing a textual commentary of a piece of literature without starting with a close textual analysis.

2) "As Dom said it's art". This sentence kind of implies that art just for passive consumption which I don't think you would say is a fair representation of your views but is still how it came across to me on first reading.

I'm doing both. I'm as caught up in trying to figure out the plot as anybody else, but also think the instant of the bomb blast and how it was integrated with the music was the most artistically intense, moving thing I've ever seen on TV.

She's presumably talking to a spirit residing within the log (of her dead husband?), not the log itself. Nothing particularly out the ordinary for this series

I guess I believe more as Kandinsky said "Art belongs to the unconscious "

Black eyes still but his expression did seem even more blank than usual. I'm hoping that signals the instant where the doppelganger becomes the new brain-dead Coop and real Coop gets his mental capacity back.

quick aside - Mark Frost's book The List of Seven is excellent. Highly recommended.

I haven't gotten around to reading the sequel, but the ratings aren't nearly as good. I loved the first one.

Description from goodreads.com:

On Christmas Day 1884, a desperate plea from a mysterious woman leads Arthur Conan Doyle—struggling physician, aspiring writer, and part-time demystifier of the occult—to a seance in London’s East End and into a fiendish and deadly trap. Stunned by a shocking display of black magic, Doyle witnesses a murder, nearly falling victim himself before being rescued by a secretive stranger: Jack Sparks, a man who claims to be special agent to Queen Victoria. He tells Doyle that he has been targeted by a diabolical coven of Satanists—the Dark Brotherhood.

As they track their attackers across the length and breadth of Britain, assailed by forces of darkness both human and supernatural, Conan Doyle and Sparks unmask a terrifying conspiracy that threatens not only the Crown but the very fabric of modern civilization. Their only clue: a list of seven names, the leaders of the Brotherhood.

Skeptical by nature and profession, Doyle labors to prove that the events he has witnessed—horrifying visions, zombies, ghouls, molecular alteration—are elaborate ruses with logical explanations. But if so, why? Simply because Doyle’s anti-occultist writings, never even published, have inadvertently exposed the Brotherhood’s intentions? Who is the elusive, seemingly superhuman mastermind behind the Seven? Most important, as Doyle continues to put his life in the hands of Jack Sparks, the question persists: Can Sparks be trusted?

Been thinking about ep 8 all week. So epic.

Does anyone know whether the next ep will become streamable sooner like eps 3-4 came out before they actually aired them? Or do we really have to wait 2 weeks? Yes, I'm that impatient.

How does crap like Game Of Thrones get 20,000-post threads in here, yet it seems like ~7 OOTers are watching Twin Peaks?

Thought ep 9 was the worst one so far (obviously still pretty good). I was hoping to finally get a glimpse of Audrey, but instead we got Johnny Horne lol. Hudson Mohawke and Sky Ferreira sightings tho.

We are getting so many answers to everything that it's almost annoying. The one thought I wasn't expecting to enter my head during the new season is "damn, is there going to be any mystery left by the time the show ends?"

Lots of great comedy stuff. My favorite one was "Yeah, I know, '**** you, Albert'." Pretty much every scene with Gordon Cole aka Lynch himself on-screen is awesome.

Oh and, this website. Epic 1990s design as well.

I assume the Johnny Horne thing will tie in to Audrey. Maybe she will show up at his funeral.

I cracked up when Albert said, “What happens in Season 2?” Will there be a season 2?

Well we sure got a load of them in the previous one, and based on the latest ep it seems like both Cole, Rosenfield et al and the Twin Peaks policemen are getting pretty close to solving a pretty big part of the mystery. Idk, I'm just really not looking forward to have a floating major Briggs actually explain us stuff, I'd love some of the mystery to remain. I'm not really interested in learning about some metaphysical explanation to all this.

I didn't mean my post as a complaint fwiw, I love the new season as much as anyone. I just thought it's funny to think we are now actually having all the stuff explained that we never thought we'd even touch on. I don't know what you guys were expecting, but I certainly wasn't expecting to ever learn about BOB's origin or all this Briggs stuff, decoding which is somehow suddenly almost the core of the entire show. I guess I expected more Cooper and mysterious Lynch stuff and less science, but I'm not saying it's all a bad thing.
