This is beyond awesome!

I honestly don't have any friends who watched this show (I was 8 when it came out). I just started texting people to watch the original show.

Best theme song of all time too. I listen to it often before falling asleep.

That could not be any better.

I was really starting to fear that he would never do anything major ever again but at the same time hoping that if he did that it would be something major in tv with freedom and control.

Now 9 full Lynch directed episodes is almost too good to be true. He only directed 6 the first time around and those were head and shoulders above pretty much anything else in the series. Especially after he abandoned it altogether for most of season two.

It will be interesting how it will get shot. He kept stating during and after Inland Empire that he would never go back to film.

There were really two different shows. One show before "Who Killed Laura Palmer?" was solved, and a completely different show after the network apparently made Lynch and Frost give the answer way too early because ratings were so high that they didn't want people to get frustrated and tune out (irony).

Lynch and Frost are both writing and Lynch is directing, so if they can give us nine episodes of pre-"who killed" then it should be all good.

Between Lynch being fully involved and the freedom of being on pay cable, I have high hopes. This may end up being my downfall. Much better to have zero hopes and be pleasantly surprised, lol.

The "25 years" thing, although obviously not simply a coincidence, is really cool too.
