Thanks I was just clarifying because on initial watch I felt the conversation was much stranger than it actually was.

BTW not being involved in that evangelical Christian thing other than cursory dealings, I think all ministers/preachers are kind of creepy. hahaha but that's just me.

I laughed more than a few times. Enjoyed that.

Very Cormac McCarthy esque.

Hooked already. Neither WH or MM are the killer

Special Agent Dale Cooper would have this solved asap

I don't either MM or WH are the killer that they are investigating. But i think it's plausible that they put away someone MM knows didn't do it, which drove him to the state he's in now. Then, in order to reopen the case, MM committed the latest murder. (or maybe came across a murder, and rigged it up to look like the old ones)

Now, I have to rewatch the ep cause I don't remember much in detail. It was awesome though.

All,

Alexandra Daddario completely screwed by Miss OOT/True Detective timing. Amazing.

Oh, another excellent ep, love this show.

Exactly. I think I voted for her anyway, but I'd have fought hard for her against most of the other contestants.

So a couple of things I've noticed that I'm not really sure are coincidence or not or if means anything is that everything that seems to be found is seen by MM and not Woody. First the thing MM found in the aunt's back yard, the lead to go to the hillbilly whore house, the drawing at the end which is seen by MM first + when he goes and gets the location to the whore house and roughs up those guys Woody is in the car and I'm assuming didn't actually see what happened.

Guess my point is sort of that MM recollection of events of the things when Woody isn't around might not necessarily be accurate.

Or it's quite possible Woody isn't a good detective. I haven't seen anything of remote note to think he's good (remember, he had no interest in examining the body). I think he's more known for not effing with the brass, and MM is a big shock to the system he has in place. MM is clearly an elite (but terrible at politics and people) detective, as Woody has backed up on multiple occasions in his interview.

I think Woody just likes to go through life watching, and not really doing anything about anything. The whole thing that he witnessed with his kids and the dolls seems like a good example for him. They witnessed a gang rape, quite obviously, and he didn't even act like he wanted to find out what happened (like he was just disturbed by it, but nothing else), despite that being his job. I think the dialog between him and his wife pretty much sums up his character. He just wants to stick his head in the sand when he's not on the job, and life doesn't work that way. This was really outstanding character development for him, and I think he comes across as an extremely unlikable character, who is quite effed up. To me, it's almost like MM is effed up and he knows it, but Woody is effed up and doesn't know it (or doesn't think he is). Woody's just an amazing hypocrite.

I know the EMMYs will probably give Cranston the win, since Breaking Bad is now gone, but MM's performance is one of my favorites I've seen on TV in years.

I'm guessing HBO will put in mini series category like American Horror Story to avoid this.

Show is clearly GOAT for popping Daddario's TV nudity cherry. Here's to many more nude scenes with her to come.

Definitely right, forgot it would be there. I think this show is HBO's entry into the miniseries category basically saying "American Horror Story? Give me a break". So, I think their goal is to try to clean up in that category from now on, since it's so weak overall. And it's not like the Academy is going to let Benedict Cumberbatch win for a British show. MM seems a lock to win that category for lead actor, much like I felt Jessica Lange was a lock to win for season 1 of American Horror Story.

Another example is how he justifies his cheating - he's like, "I'm doing it for my wife and kids really, so that I don't bring the ****ed up stuff from work home with me." lolz

Maybe he's disinterested in working the case because he knows all the answers already, and he's going through the motions with his family because he's a stone nut case.

how are you so sure about that? Just because kids have dolls set up like that does not mean they witnessed a gang rape... did I miss something in another scene?
