first ep certainly whet the appetite. only thing i found annoying was how derivative the crime scene was of the first hannibal crime scene, with the antlers.

I don't live in North America, so even though i'd gladly pay HBO the money they deserve, i simply can't.

I guess it's nice to still be able to see those shows in 1080p on a Smart TV the next day

I don't think you guys in America have any idea how many ~15-40 years old European follow NA best shows, 24h hours after you, but without any commercial. With random people getting less bad at computers/interwebz year after year, it has been growing to the point many of your average middle age guy is watching the same TV you're watching, instead of those mostly terrible EU shows.

Some NA networks could make sick money if they started broadcasting over here. Sure, many mainstream networks air your TV shows, but an episode that aired in the US usually arrives 1 to 3 years later in Europe lol. And often you can't even watch it in english, its only available in your country's language..

So yeah, just like your friends we have to find another way. In this case it's because we don't have the possibility to simply pay though

Kami,

Exactly. I have not opened my TV to a local network channel in years. Use it 100% for Netflix, HBO Nordic and other internet sourced content. Both Netflix and HBO started here about a year ago, so its nice to have a legit way to get some of that content.

With local networks it would be a years wait, SD quality, commercials, possibly horrible timeslot (Wire used to air monday-tuesday night at 00:45 AM) and you would never know if they're going pick the next season or leave it hanging.

I'm guessing this was probably written before the the Hannibal episode aired, but I agree, kinda unfortunate. Especially considering I imagine a lot of Hannibal viewers watched this show as well. Didn't take away any enjoyment for me though.

think that MM exposing WH's affair w/ court reporter chick to his wife is way more likely that MM having sex w/ her

Bothered me for maybe 30 seconds, but quality of episode pushed it to the back of my mind easily, and good point Hopslam, I'd guess they were both written before either aired.

It felt kind of like if Hannibal were on HBO, I think. But, as others have said, it wasn't hard to get past the similarities, though it really did feel like a Hannibal episode at that stage. If you were going for a style, that's a great one to share influences with, as Hannibal is one of the most visually striking shows on television.

If it winds up being two sides of the same coin as with Sherlock and Elementary, I'm ok with that...

Why??? I hate this. It's, like, reverse engineering the plot starting from episode 8 backwards when we've only seen 1 episode and nothing in it whatsoever has hinted at this possibility. Woody has, so far, been a straight up good Christian dude (who's prob cheating on his wife but hey, what good Christian dude hasn't?) who seemed pretty revolted by the Dora Lange crime scene and has given zero hints that there's some ****ed up serial killer inside his head - not only to those around him, but to us the viewers when nobody else is watching him. Him randomly turning out to be the killer when the show drops 0 clues whatsoever to us that it would even be possible would be Dexter-level terribleness. If there's a slow burn between now and the end where those clues start getting dropped, fine, that could be ok, but idk why on earth you'd think Woody being the killer would be a good thing based on what we've seen so far.

Combined with alluding to WH having an affair - hinting at a double life - I get the feeling that WH is a suspect (which he now understands), and MM is brought in to help the investigators pin it on WH.
I thought it was the opposite. They're asking Woody about the dinner because they want to understand MM as a person, what makes him tick, etc. because MM is the suspect, and the knowing gesture from Woody is him realizing why they're asking him that stuff about MM.

2.5/4 stars for the first episode, the conversation in the car between woody and MM about MM characters religion was the highlight, other then that I thought it was decent

Is this show going to go like Twin Peaks and add some supernatural elements to it? The birds in the previews looked like they were forming the sign that was painted on the victim's back. Could possibly be a MM dream sequence. Did the author say anything about it having supernatural elements?

there was that little girl on side of road waving to him too, I assume his daughter, before he asked WH if he believed in ghosts. I feel like it's just MM being kinda crazy

A+ 1st episode. I didn't check phone/ipad/laptop once.

I said it could be good, not that I think it is him based on what I saw. OTOH I don't think MM is the killer and think I might be disappointed if he is.

I'm surprised anyone thinks either MM or WH could be the killer. So MM plants and finds the piece of evidence at the Fontenot home to throw people off? I doubt it. I think they're both being interrogated because they worked the previous case and it looks to be the same killer. There are obviously question marks surrounding the original case. MM and WH might be under suspicion, but the chances of either being the killer is slim to none, imo. If either is the killer, it's much more likely to be WH. But him being the killer is still extremely unlikely.

I'm guessing that in the original case, someone was arrested and jailed for the murder, but it was someone that MM did not believe to be the real killer. Given how prominent and influential the Christian community is in the area, it seems like the police department caved into finding a suspect, maybe a known Satanist, and pinning it on them.

The case, and the wrong person being arrested, likely led to MM becoming further disillusioned and eventually winding up in the shape he's in present day. If MM knew the wrong person was arrested, he would probably be the first person to know, and he would probably be the first person to suspect that WH was the real killer. The falling out the two of them had was more likely the result of the clear personal differences the two had, and the probable affairs the show is setting up. Do you people that think WH could possibly be the killer really think he would have the time to kidnap a girl and keep her captive for a month (or however long it was - didn't she disappear for a year?), kill her slowly and deliberately, and set up an elaborate death scene - all while working full-time as a cop and having a family? Please.

i don't think that MM or WH is the killer. i don't think the new cops think so either really, but they have to treat them as suspects since there were only a handful of people who knew the details of the case.
