WH's wife basically got Cohle to submit to her using a similar technique that he uses in interrogations.

In fact the author says what I just said: "Our ground for rejecting time, it may be said, is that time cannot be explained without assuming time."

Right, we have to assume it, because we are travelling <SoL. Making it relative or "assumed". I think some guy around the same as this essay was busy proving just this (something with trains, twins, and disappearing rocket ships).

As TD correctly states, which is borrowed from Nietzsche, "time is a flat circle". Thus you are forced to assume a linear timeline attached to this thing you call a "self" but it's not implicit.

If you are arguing time is not even a byproduct of motion being observed, that is just flat out wrong. That type of "time" does exist in and of itself, but only relative to your sense perception.

Digging into his mind, he wanted the release. I forget the exact words she said, but to paraphrase "you want this, you need this/etc". Similar to Cohle saying "you need forgiveness, you are guilty". Basically playing with his emotions when he's in an unstable state (just got suspended and said "**** it all" as he left). I don't think the Cohle of previous episodes would have had sex with her.

i remember he gave Cohle a look at the press conference in the first episode .

Yep, love that girl. And she just keeps getting hotter and hotter every week in Banshee. She looked her best in this though.

Also,

"The newspapers are gonna be tough on you. And prison is very very hard on people who hurt kids. If you get the opportunity, you should kill yourself."

JESUS CHRIST THAT WAS AMAZING!!

Worst episode of the show and it's still the best thing I've seen on TV since Ozymandias. 9/10

Michelle Monaghan is lovely don't know how she doesn't get more work (as a lead). Trucker is a solid movie if you want to see her in the lead. Excellent actress.

Been into her since Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Great movie as well. She's not as pretty in this as she was in that, but she never showed ass like that in anything else.

I thought this episode was top notch. They've been alluding to **** going down between Cohle and Hart since the beginning and watching it unfold was every bit as satisfying as I had hoped it would be.

Cohle is an all time great character. The more we see of him, the more intense he becomes. I relish every scene he's in.

Cool, I definitely did not pick up on that while watching.

I went back and watched some of the scenes again, and now have a totally different interpretation of when the present day detectives ask her if her divorce from Hart had anything to do with Cohle, and she says, "No."

On first viewing, I just assumed she was lying to them because she didn't want to reveal or discuss something that personal. The second time I realized that she is telling the truth. Their relationship was doomed before she ever went over to Cohle's apartment. Cohle was just a pawn that she used in her game of revenge against Hart, he played no meaningful role in their ultimate divorce.

we now know for sure that tuttle is directly involved, we know how what went down in 2002, and we know the cops brought in the wife and are asking some pretty damn leading questions suggesting they know something

btw the music playing during the tuttle scene was pretty damn great. rust has him dead to the rights once he mentions the women and the children.

---
also in the show was Austin "Ferrar"?, someone who apparently embezzled funds in Wellspring, was dismissed, then "committed suicide" (Rust doesn't appear to believe this entirely)

there was an austin farrer who was a theologian

Austin Farrer (11 October 1904 – 29 December 1968) was an English theologian and philosopher. His activity in philosophy, theology, and spirituality led many to consider him the outstanding figure of 20th century Anglicanism

One of his closer friends was the Christian apologist C.S. Lewis who dedicated his book Reflections on the Psalms to him. Farrer took the last sacraments to Lewis before his death. Others included J.R.R. Tolkien and Dorothy Sayers. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Farrer has been more studied and more admired since his death in the United States than in his own country.

His major contribution to Christian thought is his notion of 'double agency', that human actions are fully our own but also are the work of God, though perfectly hidden. He described God for such purposes as 'intelligent act'
