I have said from the beginning that Roland is the more interesting character. Stephen Dorff is killing it in this but will likely be overlooked at awards time in favor of Ali.
I agree I think SD jumps off the screen...feel like Ali has the same brooding delivery in virtually every scene

I enjoyed the Marty/wife drama in S1 since it made sense, Marty was very flawed and was kind of a bad husband/father, and the fights made sense. I still don't really understand why Hays & his wife are constantly fighting. Yes obv it's related to the book and the wife being kind of an attention whore, but 5 eps in we haven't seen enough about that storyline for the drama to be interesting or relatable.

It feels like their main conflict is her obsession with the case and his knowledge that a)an innocent man was convicted, b)he was never able to solve it, and c)his wife seems happy and excited about the prospect of furthering her writing career, based on the misery of others.

But yeah's it's defiintely not that interesting of a relationship, at least so far. I suppose the audience is supposed to be dying to know the mystery of exactly how and why she died, but I personally don't care all that much. The best moments are between the 2 partners, not Hays and his wife.

I had to rewind the porch scene about 100 times because it was so hard to tell what the **** he was saying.

I keep forgetting she is dead, a lot of the time I think she just left him.

Subtitles. I never miss a word of dialogue.

Pretty much this ^
Some shows I can watch it without subs, but for the most part, when I wake up in EU, I check what TV shows aired and if there is american/english subs for them, then watch it.

I kind of think that the story will go faster in the next episodes. Like it so far. But from time to time have to skip some parts, just because there are useless parts. Better then S2, but S2 was a lot more different then S1 and S3.

Feel the same, I would prefer if it was just a more straightforward murder mystery taking place directly after the disappearance. The switching timelines every 5 minutes is lame and takes away from the story

I think it may be warranted to give up on this show. Maybe show some interviewer or wife tits to keep me watching.

If I hated the show from the season 1 finale to the season 2 finale is there any point in watching the show? If it isn't any good is it at least as entertainingly bad as season 2?

I think it is very slow but this last episode is the first one I would rate as very good since season 1. Have hope it might finish strong.

i'm totally ok with a gratuitous hot sex scene that is totally out of place happening in these final 3 episodes

Noticed this bet on bovada, might be an actual spoiler so click with caution

Spoiler:
True Detective Season 3 - Is Henry Having An Affair With Eliza?
2/7/19
9:00 PM
Winner
Yes -250
No +170

I don't recall anything that suggested this except Eliza potentially having someone in her hotel room. The fact that the bet is listed and yes is a big favorite leads me to believe this is very likely to happen?

They also have a bet on who killed Will with Hoyt Foods CEO/family member/employee -140

I think this has been speculated based on how they spoke to each other.

Kinda interesting as it would sorta mirror the Hayes /Amelia relationship

So theory that Lucy sold (or gave) Julie to Hoyt as a replacement for his daughter's dead daughter is apparently correct

The villains aren't mentioned or shown until episode 7/8 again.
Well done HBO. Let's spend 6 hours building these characters only to dismiss them at the last quarter or the season.

Really bored and underwhelmed with this season. Two episodes left hopefully there’s a good pay off (to me it was pretty obvious something was going on with the chicken empire since it was first sparingly introduced)

I thoroughly enjoyed the episode.

The present day reporter lady you're all hot and bothered about stars in Alias Grace, a 6 parter on Netflix that she is fantastic in.
