In which (non-racist) world is Mahershala Ali 'basically an unknown'? The guy won an Academy Award last year. Except for Rachel McAdams, none of the leads on season 2 even has a nomination for one on their resume.

It's fair to say the cast for season 3 looks weaker than the one they had for season one and the names are smaller than the season 2 cast, but calling a guy who was one of the more important supporting cast members in House of Cards (besides winning an Oscar for his role in Moonlight) an unknown is pretty ridiculous.

Cary Joji Fukunaga who directed all 8 episodes of True Detective season one was confirmed as director for the upcoming Bond 25 movie after Danny Boyle jumped ship over 'creative differences'.

When I see his face...... I don't recognize it. All the other people I have seen in numerous things.

LOL just looked at his IMDB and now I remember him from Predators and have seen Hidden Figures. So I guess he's got the Predators fame going for him as thats the only thing that interests me and the other movie I seen from him I remember all the chicks, definitely not him. Politics is AIDS so I'm not into the boy diddler's show. So basically he is an unknown until about last year.

edit. Benjamin Button was the ****, still bringing out racism from not recognizing a dude who basically seems like a solid supporting actor seems like you got an itchy trigger finger for that word.

Not TV and only kinda related:

They made a movie of Pizza Lotto's first novel which was released for streaming yesterday. I thought it was good. Not great, but worth watching.

Suffered through s2 which was among the worst seasons of television I've ever watched from start to finish, and I wasn't that high on s1 to begin with, so I'm also in need of some words of encouragement.

First episode was great. Reminds me a lot of S1.

So is this a West Memphis Three storyline or something bigger?

1st episode was good. Should be a good season. A lot of back and forth between a 35 year span.

That’s kind of what I thought, but I have a feeling it will be more than that.

I thought episode 2 was good but not as good as the first one. Story is interesting and the mood is very similar to Season 1. I’m in.

Finished both and they are good. Anyone with reservations Bc of how bad s2 was shouldn’t be worried imho. My only complaint is that I have to wait to watch more.

On an unrelated note, why is HBO trying to force me to watch trailers for shows, recap and intro? I have to manually skip it using the slider to find where the episode begins. Tilting af.

I've watched a ton of stuff, and I think S1 is one of the best things on TV ever. So, when I finally caved and watched S2 recently, even though I've heard nothing but awful reviews, I figured well its still HBO, big name actors, it can't be THAT bad. But wow was I wrong, everyone involved with writing/ directing S2 shouldn't work again. Honestly was an embarrassment for HBO.

Which is why I have high hopes for S3, HBO is in danger of losing a series even with all the credit they got with S1, they brought in the A team I'd imagine.

It got to the point where we were just watching s2 for the rediculousness.

Season 1 flashbacks / forwards I never got tired of. They we well paced and made sense. I hope that s3 doesn't overdo it with the 80 vs 90 vs 15 stuff.

One of the best 7 episodes. The resolution in the finale sucked balls, invalidating everything good about it up to that point. Not unlike Lost.
