Also the only 8 hour long horror movie in history afaik.

basically agree with this. you'll get disappointed if you go looking for too much.

You guys want to pick a nit, you can't just look up some dude's taxes from 1995 on the internet.

But seriously, that was tremendous. It didn't close up every loose end. So?

Agree. I didn't think we'd learn it all and I didn't want some predictable twist but the fact we gained no depth on any of the cult except the spaghetti monster was a huge let down...

I think you could argue that it didn't tie up a single loose end, really.

I loved it. It ended on what the whole show was actually about: the relationship between those 2 guys. Everything else just kind of pushed and pulled between them.

So glad there wasn't some other big useless reveal. And say what you will, but you gotta admit you were on the edge of your seat inside that maze. What a SET. Can you imagine them building that? Christ that was creepy. And the scene where the fat chick tells about her grandpa rape? Deliciously sadistic.

10/10 series

I can almost forgive the Audrey thing. I cannot forgive the preachy ending.

It was SO unlike and untrue to the rest of the series I think it's very likely MM either co-wrote that part or at least required that type of transformation for his character.

I really loved it. I'm definitely expecting this to be an unpopular ending itt though. You either will or won't find it satisfying in terms of the cycle of Rust and Marty's lives. I thought it was perfect. It completely subverted the vengeance narrative following the cliff hanger of e7 (like they were going to torture the guy and go on a kill crazy rampage or whatever) and went into "true detective" work. Cohle sees the flat circle in Carcosa and I thought he was dead, but he survives and breaks the cycle of violence. It ends in a very Lynchian manner with panning to the stars (see: The Elephant Man, The Straight Story).

Uh, it resolved the murder of Dora Lange and the Lake Charles case. The detectives detected, they found Carcosa, Spaghetti face took a bullet to the head.

True, it didn't spend any time at all wrapping up all the subplots that aspergersy weirdos on the internet invented from forensic overanalysis of the costumes, props, and set design... But whose fault is that?

This reminds me of the exact feeling I felt sitting in the theatre when No Country For Old Men ended, and literally 95% of the people said "What the **** was that?". You could hear confusion everywhere because it just ended on a genuine human moment, and not something about the plot.

It's the guaranteed way to rustle jimmies in TV or movies.

This show has A LOT in common with The Straight Story (and even The Elephant Man). The connection only came in here with the end. That's one of my favorite movies. So, yeah. I loved it.

Yeah I mean his direct victims were avenged for his part in it but they only got a couple of what appeared to have been a pretty large network of sick ****s. But they did get him, that's true. And Ledoux for that matter.

But we knew they were chasing lawnmower guy since early on. Maybe THAT is the "twist," that there was no twist and they got the guy they were after all along? idk The last 5 minutes were just formulaic and disappointing, not sure how anyone could deny that.

Great performances by literally everyone in the series though, I'll definitely be rewatching it.

Oooooo look at me and how second level of a thinker I am.

This was a crazy intense short season, that hinted at a multigenerational satanic cult pulling the strings for a whole state. I don't think wishing we got more background makes anyone a nit or a bad tv viewer.

Meh, maybe. I think a lot of people were just expecting more than the same ending we've seen in hundreds of movies & TV shows

The scene when Rust signaled the sniper to fire a few shots was very similar to the scene with the laser pointers in the Breaking Bad finale.
