Welp let's just hope that Shrilley, the queen of the harpys AND banshees, crashes and burns in the finale.

So annoyed that Sheldon punted it off like that. It's a foreign cooking method, do a test fish or at least when you look over and see that both girls are wrapping it in a leaf do the same don't do the opposite to get cute.

Now I'm far less invested in the finale. Shirley made a dumpling for about the 15th time on the show, so I guess I'm rooting for Brooke. Dumplings are awesome but there's not much to them and as Fabio says this is Top Chef not Top Dumpling.

Don't get all the Shirley hate, she and Brooke are clearly the top 2. FWIW I don't recall her making dumplings this season but w/e. And you could make the same comments about Sheldon, another Filipino-rice-veggie-fish dish? How original.

She has made dumplings 3 times in the last 4 episodes, it's past boring that shouldn't be rewarded in my opinion.

Also I'm pretty sure Sheldon has made a rice/veggie/fish dish a total of one time on Top Chef. Maybe try not being clueless next time?

This is Top Chef, it isn't Top Dumplings.

I find the 3 finale episodes annoying. During final 5 everybody's all 'gotta get through this round, then I'm in the finale'.

Then at final 4 they need to get through one more round to get into the finale.

Then at final 3, its just one more challenge til the finale.

and Last chance kitchen is a trip back into the finale...except, then they do a couple more challenges to make the finale.

I'm assuming it's just a ratings ploy. Like their finale probably gets higher ratings, so they make it seem like more than 1 episode are the finale to get more people to watch.

totally agree. i'm not crazy with having a high degree of variance this late in the game.

Yes! The whole eighteen stages of finale thing is so stupid.

unless the producers mix things up i believe in the last episode Brooke will let us know before the end if she wins or not. throughout the season the producers have shown Brooke self-critique her cooking before judges' table (as well as in last chance kitchen) and she has been correct every single time. when she says she's done well, she has....and when she says she's f-ed up, she has.
i can't think of a single time she had some delusional idea her food was good but it wasn't.

Agree Shirley is an excellent chef. Plus she seems like a very nice person. I feel like people calling her Shrilley may just be prejudiced against how Chinese people talk.

I also don't get the shirley hate. She, Brooke, and Sheldon are so clearly the top 3.

Sheldon is actually a super elite chef. His mistake is his choice of cuisine. I mean Filipino food, how high can the ceiling really be?

I think this is very flawed way to think of something. If you look at Japanese, Chinese, Korean food now the very low end still persists, but all of these cuisines have restaurants with Michelin stars, with Japan has more 3 star restaurants than anywhere outside of France.

Filipino food is an underdeveloped cuisine if you are speaking of a ceiling as one rated by this competition or Michelin but it takes people to like Sheldon to move it forward. Filipino food is utterly unique in the mish mash of places that it draws influence from and will definitely find it's place in haute cuisine. It will just take time and people like Sheldon.

Also Paul "wifebeater" Qui is a filipino chef and won in season 9. His food drew quite a bit of influence from the Philippines at times (the finale in particular)

Ugh, the braided hair coupled with that horrific blue dress was so horrible it was distracting. Padma is beautiful with a HOT body yet she looked down right dumpy. Makes me think that her beauty squad missed the plane to Mexico or she was using local stylists.
