The LCK was pretty funny. It felt like the veterans expected another scared rookie to come through, but Claudette was super confident and it looked like she destroyed them. I don't think the veterans are long for this world considering how they keep raising the talent bar for chefs on the show.

It’s all about timing with the protein. If you cook it too early it’ll dry out/overcook, if you cook it too late it’ll be underdone. That being said, you’d expect chef’s this good would be able to get the timing right but the stress/nerves will definitely play a part.

Was wondering the same thing. "we got all the bears on this team"

I was thinking if that meant they had a team of ~4 gay guys. Not sure what "bear" means.

The bear thing was explained at the beginning of the ep.

I've been living in Denver for like 2 years, can't believe I didn't know anything about this. I have however eaten at all of the restaurants mentioned on the show so far including the one the contestant works at (Denver's food scene is microscopic compared to chicago/ny your food to do list won't be that long). I wasn't expecting her to make it far because I thought it was highly overrated and really couldn't compare to a place like Fruition. But obviously it isn't her menu and probably not that reflective of her cooking skill (could also have been the dishes I ordered which were 4 + a pizza but meh, maybe I'm just not that big on italian food).

Looking forward to the rest of this season.

But doesn't timing of when the food is consumed count? Like, if someone cooks a protein perfect but due to TV, it's not eaten for 45 minutes; that's not fair to the chef.

Is anyone noticing all the sexual innuendo? Not sure if there's more this season or just noticeable b/c of what's going on with the #MeToo movement.

That quickfire was kind of heartbreaking to watch, since Laura seemed really nice and just totally crumbled.

I enjoyed life more before learning that someone like that frat doofus is apparently famous enough to be a Top Chef judge. I did enjoy the very thinly veiled disdain all the judges had for him though.

Bro! Waffles dude! Bro!

Yea, Laura ****ing up that omelette was hard to watch. I was surprised to see Tom smiling at that abomination.

Bro! Can I get a dap on that waffle selfie?

I'm developing a huge crush on Fatima, but if I'm not mistaken her deconstructed omelette didn't have ham or anything ham-like in it. I guess they're giving her a pass on pork because she's Muslim, but they're not going to mention it?

How can you not make an omelette in 15min?
You do three pans and take the best one. 15min is PLENTY of time to do a test-run.
Brother's narration was on point, he understood the challenge and even screamed it over to them.

They could not have it made more clear that they did not look for an elevated-version filled omelette. It was all about technique.
Not one of those omelettes looked like a proper omelette.

The the food truck part was hard too watch, too.

Making a weird kind of salad really didn't work as a concept (especially for college students) nor was the execution good to at least convince the judges.
Doing chicken and waffles, cheese, etc. is obviously the way to go.
All those three sandwiches were screaming CONDIMENTS and SAUCE, maybe Adrienne's sandwich might be doable without water and the bread didn't look very appealing either.

I've never heard of Logan Paul but that felt very out of place. Even the judges cringed several times about his comments.

I think most people saying versions of this comment are underrating how insanely stressful and difficult the competition is. I could totally see how even something "easy" can get really hard when you're expected to do it perfectly, you're doubting yourself compared to other chefs, and you're just coming off a challenge where you landed on the bottom and now are facing elimination.

That said, I don't get why they were all adding mushrooms and stuff either.

I have never been more validated by the Judges comments than with that fish sandwich. The second I saw that I said to my wife "wtf is that? Fish and bread? Ew. Maybe a sauce?"

Your life's work is cooking food and you're supposed to be one of the best at it, and they tell you to crack a few eggs and you serve something ridden with salmonella?

It was a horrible display and definitely downgraded my current thoughts on the strength of this season's competitors overall.

it was the worst thing i've ever seen on the show, but yes, i think you have to attribute it to pressure. because if you don't, then...wow.

fun fact, raw eggs aren't inherently dangerous. in fact, padma has been known to eat them many times on the show as part of a steak tartare!

I know this is taking maybe the best guy ever on the show, but Mike V never seemed to stressed out about anything. And rarely if ever did he break under pressure. After all, the show is called Top Chef.

sure, and the same goes for Paul Qui. But, those guys were insanely elite. Even Blais cracked under pressure and that says something. Laura has awards and can certainly cook, but, we don't know how tough it was for her and all of the other factors that can go into someone not being able to handle the pressure.
