The new season starts with a two-part premiere, today and tomorrow.

I'm glad the cute young chick didn't go home.

Bringing Grayson back was a great choice. Guarantees at least one likable/fun chef will be around and it made the first episode less disorienting to have a familiar face there. Hopefully she gets it together and makes a deep run.

Seems weird they sent home somebody whose food was loved by half the judges, generally they send home the mediocre ones. Pretty sure the elimination's different if Tom/Padma get to him earlier and Emeril/Gail get the ****ty version.

Whats the deal with only Grayson being back, don't remember that happening before.

Overall not a bad start, looking forward to this season.

i agree about the guy they sent home, but i guess it was probably because he was the only one with execution errors.

lol grayson. she was dead ****ing last in my TC draft. looks about right so far.

I don't even remember Grayson all that much. She's making crappy food and acting like a real... this season

Any insight why they brought back one chef and its not someone very memorable or good.

is this a good cooking show? what is the format?

The format is pretty much the same as any other reality show. It's a great program for seeing people at the very top of their game doing their thing without a whole lot of stupid reality TV gimmicks. It's also great for making you realize the huge gap between what most people think of as cooking and what goes on in the upper reaches of the industry.

each episode judges decide worst dish and that person goes home?

Exec,

Gail's blog said it was because his dish wasn't consistent and that was a key criteria for that contest.

Grayson seems terrible.

I'd rather keep someone who aimed for something special and was partially successful as opposed to one who aimed for mediocrity and barely got there. It's all subjective though and maybe the second batch of his dish was inedible.

Lol @ Grayson flipping out at her teammate for saying she wanted to do something more ambitious than a salad for a vegan challenge. I'd take both the eliminated chefs over Grayson, she's pretty insufferable this time round.

yes, and it's by far the best cooking reality show imo. highest caliber contestants and judges, combined with good production/editing.

I don't understand how Anyone can have such a bad additive about being on the show. Grayson is on for the second time is being an annoying bitch. Just go home is you don't want to be there.

Did I miss some sort of competition to get back on the show or did they just throw all the previous chefs name in a hat and pull her?

Any time an ingredient is mangled the guilty party is at the bottom and has to hope someone else ****ed something up big time.

Grayson may not be the best chef, but I'd rather watch her than Manbun or the guy that got booted or a couple other people. Top Chef may pride itself on being a meritocracy but it's still a TV show.

I remembered liking her, but... yeah. It's been a rough start.

I thought I remembered most of 2p2 liking her that season too, but I might just be making that up.

loled at that dude who made the big speech about cooking being like philosophy or whatever getting axed immediately.

Grayson is terrible. I hate her. That said I think she can rile some more feathers for a few more episodes before her deconstructed meatloaf meatballs get her sent home.
