I was surprised based on the way the final dinner went down. It seemed like Sara had the top 2 courses and Kelsey had the worst course with her Soft Shell Crab (maybe tied with Sara's bacon).

Enjoyable season. Congrats to Kelsey. I can see her coming back in future seasons as a guest judge.

I haven’t watched enough seasons but Kelsey seems to be better for tv by her looks. I thought Sara cooked better as well especially across the season but Kelsey is a lot more attractive.

finale really snuck up on me.

This show really suffers from finale fatigue. When there were 6 chefs left, it was "don't get eliminated here and you make the finals!". So we had the top 5 finals episode. Then there was the final 4 finale episode.

I guess I was expecting a top 3 finale to see who makes it to the top 2 finals finale.

also felt like sarah got the way better comments about her dishes but at the end of the day they couldnt give the title to someone who bought waffle mix

one of the guest chefs from the finale was at my gf's gym the other day. he was saying the usual stuff: dinner takes forever and is a massive production with tons of lights and cameras / the food is great / padma is a goddess irl

i read this as the typical editing rope-a-dope and predicted Kelsey would win because of it.

New season tonight.

Watching last season on bravo now. ❤️ Kelsey. Seems so strange they are in Macau cooking for Chinese New Year - crazy how much different the world is today.

Steph Cmar lived around the corner from my wife and I in Boston and we got to be pretty friendly with her in passing/at the bodega etc; she's a personal chef for a very wealthy family in the even bougier part of the 'hood a few blocks away. The wife is such a fangirl for her and Kristen Kish haha. Also got to know Karen Akunowicz a little by being regulars at Myers & Chang when she was exec there and taking a small dumpling class she taught to raise money for charity. Her new(ish) Italian joint in Southie is fantastic. Can't wait to watch the new episode tonight!

Excited for this season!

Jesus Padma look especially smoking hot in this episode. Kevin and his wife rocked the quick fire - that was impressive.

Thought the same thing about Padma, she was dressed pretty casual for the quickfire but looked freaking incredible.

Malarkey seems to overestimate himself, he always things his dishes are fantastic but they never look that great or get very good feedback from the judges. I'm surprised he's still in this. His list ranking the competition seemed a little obnoxious (not that they aren't all thinking it, but to write it down and show it during the show seems a little tacky).

Was sad to see Jennifer go she seems like a cool person. I bet she's fun to hang out and drink with after the restaurant closes.

Tough not to like Bryan or Melissa to win, but there's a lot of good chefs this season with a chance, really enjoying it.

at the moment Melissa, Gregory, Kevin, and Eric seem to be consistently making really good food. i don't think Malarkey makes top 5.

Padma is 49 folks...she turns 50 in september.

yes

definitely enjoying this season, there's lot of likeable, good chefs. eric repeating 'it was so good. so good!' about gregory's pickles while tom was talking was a nice moment and not something you often see on this show.

That last part is what makes the all-star seasons so much fun. Yes, they are all competing, but they’ve all been through this and are more established. So they just go out there and cook as best as they can. It’s also nice to see Gregory kick ass some more as he was great in his season and just missed out at the end

i also noticed Eric's comment on Gregory's food...just seemed so sincere. the way pretty much everyone rushed to help out Lee Anne after her mom pretty much passed out was really cool to see. was it Stephanie that told her husband 'i got this, go see if you can help her'?
american reality shows only want to pump up the drama and create real or contrived animosity between members/teams. one of the many reasons i really enjoy Top Chef and The Great British Bake Off/Baking Show is because they don't.

Because Malarkey is a great restaurateur he thinks hes a great chef. Hes not, hes a good chef but a little outclassed by the top 5-6 or so.

btw I have been really impressed with Gregory. Im not sure why but I assumed he would be a step below the top group and he absolutely has not been.
