I was kind of the same way. Poor critic reviews plus it didn't look that interesting. It grabbed me from the first episode and continued to get better along the way. Almost every episode ends on something that makes you want to start the next one immediately. 8.7 on imdb is strong.

I found Tulsa King and Reacher to be some of the best binge TV this year, but overall not on the level of my T5.

I’m not a huge Star Wars person, don’t think I have seen a handful of the more recent movies. It isn’t very “star wars”-y. Much more of a Tony Gilroy show than a star wars show.

There's only exactly a handful of more recent movies. The sequel trilogy, Rogue 1 and Solo.

For Andor you should have watched the original trilogy (because everyone should have watched that) and potentially Rogue 1. Even though you could argue to better watch Andor season 1+2 (in 2024?) followed by Rogue 1 and the original trilogy. Andor covers the 5 years before Rogue 1 which is set right before A New Hope.

FWIW, I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan but have watched all movies, most of them more than once. I really enjoyed Andor but not sure if it would make my top5 list.

I almost bailed after each of the first 6 episodes. For some reason I stuck with it. The payoff from the penultimate ep and finale was immense. The finale is an all-timer imo.

As a movie? Not really since it's a TV show.

There are plenty Star Wars TV shows, people actually call it a "TV franchise" these days. But other than the last trilogy and R1/Solo there haven't been any movies. Probably because Solo bombed badly.

I think there are 5 (?) Star Wars shows planned for this year on Disney+ but the movie that was penciled in for December 22, 2023 isn't going to happen. That means December 2025 is the earliest we could expect another movie.

No. The Netflix series starts March 21.

However, there is another version already out on Prime. I'm 9 episodes in. It's decent, and it will be interesting to compare it to how Netflix handles the story.
