I turned it off once Will Ferrell came on and reading these posts it appears I made the right decision. I agree with SarcasticRat in that I hope Andy being there doesn't pretty much put an end to Conan interacting with Max during the show. Andy seemed out of place from what I saw, it was kinda weird. "Hey Andy, you've flopped miserably in pretty much all of your other endeavors but I hit it huge, wanna ride my coat tails for a little when I switch time slots?"

Andy Richter's funny, and his Fox sitcom was funny. Put him on the couch, and Conan can talk to both of them, just like he used to.

I like Andy, and I watched when he was on Conan, but I've kinda moved on from the Conan and Andy duo. Are they even considering putting him on the couch? It seemed awkward when he tried to crack a joke or two tonight, I dunno...

+1 on this. I like Andy, but we don't need to hear him laugh over the mic.

It was a good first show, though I couldn't make it through two minutes of Will Ferrell's shtick. If tonight is any indication of what's to come, it should essentially be the same show that was on at 11:30, but with better guests and stronger writers (Conan's 11:30 monologue was always short and weak imo).

With Conan leading into his show, I tried giving Jimmy Fallon a second shot, but I didn't even make it to his second joke. He looks like a robot out there, he's not particularly funny, and the writing is so horrendous that it makes Carson Daly seem tolerable. The worst part of it all, though, is that Jimmy can't even read off the cue cards; when he's reading them, he's clearly not looking into the camera, and I find it incredibly distracting that he's looking off screen so damn much. I always thought Jimmy was a funny guy, and he seemed extremely normal and nice the few times I've heard him interviewed, but he couldn't be any worse at this late night thing.

Here's a description

Quote:
Lookwell was a television pilot written and produced by Conan O'Brien and Robert Smigel. It starred Adam West as a washed-up TV action hero—who at the peak of his career was ceremonially deputized by local law enforcement—who falsely believes he can solve crimes in real life. His student, Jason, becomes his sidekick and is played by Todd Field. The pilot was broadcast on NBC in July 1991 but was not picked up as a series despite being a "personal favorite" of NBC chairman Brandon Tartikoff as well as comedian Bill Maher.

Am I the only one who doesn't think the old-time baseball skit is that hilarious? It got funnier when he was actually playing and doing his goofy accent with the mustache and then getting all confused by the airplane. But overall I don't rate this anywhere near one of the funnier things I've seen Conan do.

Expecting two or three more posts from MB about old time baseball.

The Pearl Jam song didn't seem that bad but the mix sounded like turds.

I don't have any interest in old-time baseball actually and am not defending it or anything like that. I thought they were freaks and weirdos and ranks right up there with medieval/renaissance fairs or whatever.

But the skit itself kind of dragged and never had me cracking up or anything. Most I laughed was when he shouted at the plane I guess but it didn't exactly have me cracking up. The shy/awkward/goth girl was almost funny a couple times I guess but nothing of the "OMG...that's the most hilarious thing ever" type of reaction that I guess some people have.

I'm with ya. It's good, but I don't think it's all that memorable tbh. When he said during his last week on Late Night that it was his all-time favorite sketch, I was pretty surprised.

Pretty sure that girl is REAL. I used to go to that place all the time as a kid, Old Bethpage Village on Long Island. Cool place, set up like a real 19th century farm town; I think most of the buildings are legit. You can go drink birch beer at the tavern and buy candy sticks at the general store. I'm going to try to get some people to go soon. Will definitely be on the lookout for the chick - if anyone knows how to find her let me know.

There's been talk of closing it because of budget and all, so get your kicks in while you still can:

But yea, that chick is most likely a time traveler. Definitely "mysterious", "creepy", and "hot". John Titor, can you confirm or deny?

I only caught the second half of the show. Ferrell was awful. Conan had to feed him his cue to do his shtick the entire interview.

Have I got a surprise for you guys. I'm going to wait until later to show you.

Pics or ban?

Edit: I have amended my decision and will show you now in case anybody else is clever enough to find it first.
