I didn't notice any hype about Leno's last show. Though, I did see a couple commercials with Conan running on the beach preparing for his debut.

When Johnny Carson left the Tonight Show, it was the biggest story of the day.

Jay had his farewell ep Fri. with Conan as a guest.

I think Conan will be good if he doesn't try to change too much. From the interview it sounds like they're bringing everyone from NY out to LA, so that's a good sign.
