Premise:

American Ted Lasso, a college football coach, is unexpectedly recruited to coach an English Premier League team, AFC Richmond, despite having no experience in soccer.

Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, an American college football coach who led the Wichita State Shockers to a Division II NCAA championship. He is hired to coach AFC Richmond, an English soccer team. A folksy American, he is seen as unsophisticated but is smarter than he looks. He loves to coach and cares more about people than wins.

Probably the strongest western since Lonesome Dove.

Ted Lasso in a Western Movie? Now that's something I'd pay good money to see!

Hannah Waddington, the actress who plays Rebecca, is a huge woman. She's bigger than Brienne of Tarth.

According to IMDb, Waddingham is 5ft 10¾in (1.8m). Considering Goldstein is also 5ft 11in and Ted Lasso co-star Jason Sudeikis is 6ft 1in (1.85m), Waddingham is the tallest main cast member when her shoe game is on point.

Also, amongst other things, was in 8 episodes of GoT as Septa Unella.

I skipped it entirely when season 1 came out. The commercial spots they used made it seem hollow. ....But, I decided to binge it when s2 dropped bc lockdowns and needed a time filler.

Well i'm sure glad I did. The show is great.

That Beard ep, I think s2e9, was unwatchable.

Hannah Waddington is about 5’11”. Tall for sure, but not gigantic. Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne, is 6’3”. That’s way at the upper end of female height distribution.

“Shame, shame, shame…”

Saw her on Kimmel. She and Lena Headey are best friends, but didn’t know each before GoT.

Masturbatory as ****. It's like the writing team sat down one day and decided that it would be great if they could take the second Mr. Plow commercial and turn it into a Ted Lasso episode.

I really liked it.

Really shown light Ted Lasso to the character that is The Beard.

Beard is the least interesting character on the coaching staff, and with seasons this short, burning an entire one on him was all sorts of ill-advised.

To the extent that the episode had value, I really didn't think that related to it being a deep-dive on Beard at all. I took it as more of a general metaphor for how a person in a depression spiral can begin to experience the world. It had a little something to say there, I think. And if these were 20+ episode seasons then I might be more charitable to it, but I thought it was way too much wasted time within the reality of a 12-episode season.

That episode was written after the season was written because they wanted more episodes. Instead of rebreaking the eps, they did that and one other episode. Agreed on not really liking it. If it was 25-28 minutes, maybe. But that was a lot of not very much for 45 minutes

I think the show needs Led Tasso to reappear and tear “Nate the Great” a new one.

Perhaps the other was the Christmas ep? Because that was another that advanced absolutely nothing and could have been lifted out without losing any plot. I liked that one though.

I have a friend who thinks the Beard episode is better than anything from S1. I may have to rewatch. Maybe I need to be stoned.

There's a lot I really dislike about S2, but I suppose as comedies go it still beats most. The Nate arc is not my favorite.

I've liked the Nate arc, and have really liked season 2 in general, criticisms of the Beard episode notwithstanding. Ratingraph.com does indicate that the consensus agrees with the notion that the Beard episode is the weakest in series history to date. Or at least is divisive enough that it has a lot of detractors, and the detractors have enough numbers on the supporters to put a drag on its score.

I'm all sorts of ready for whatever comes in the season finale between Roy and Jamie.

Definitely preferred bumbling, awkward Nate to MachiavelliaNate.

But bumbling, awkward Nate is still very much in there. If they had flipped a switch and suddenly just turned him into this conniving jerk with no nuance then I would dislike that as well. This seems more textured, where he's still really unsure of himself, but more and more bitterness has crept in and it's taking him to a dark place. I don't know; it rings true to me as a believable human progression.
