I think Dr Jacob's complete lack of interest in one of the most exciting moments in Henry's life sealed the deal for him. He is out and our hero is back in - at least I think that's what they were implying.

They snapped back to him seemingly on the same flight as the one Beard abandoned. I mean obviously it's possible to get on an identical plane in the future, but I agree that Ted was daydreaming/visualizing that whole thing.

I feel like, if anything, the show kind of undersold what a piece of **** that therapist was and how icky it was that he was with Michelle.

But I suppose the show isn't a big ethics police, considering the character assassination they did on Trent Crimm late in season 2 only to have him back as a sort of sympathetic character this season.

The Dr Jacob stuff is weird for sure. Showing us briefly that he doesn't really like his new GF's ex husband's soccer team/soccer in general isn't really doing enough legwork to reverse the otherwise entirely reasonable character stuff for him. Like yeah, he started dating a client that was going through marital troubles, which sounds kind of ****, but the main reason we're meant to not like him is that he's not Ted.

Final season was weak, and wasn't really buoyed by the finale at all. The Believe sign was cheesy, The Rebecca/Dutch guy/Sam/Green matchbook arc was an absolute mess and is apparently resolved by Sam making the Nigerian national team? No way Trent Crimm actually writes a book about a team and has it finished the day before the season ends when they're chasing a EPL title. Nate redemption arc was dumb. Coach Beard getting passed up for the promotion instead of Roy is awkward. Keeley plotline was whatever. Roy and Keeley breaking up just for the sake of it was strange.

The Colin arc was the highlight for me in S3. Needed more Beard (Beard's Day probably the best episode of the series for me).

The extra runway of 15-40 minutes per episode did damage an awful lot more than it helped, but the Amsterdam episode, the Colin and Isaac episode, and the Ted's Mom arc at the end all benefitted, I think?

Expecting a spinoff, largely due to how big this show is for AppleTV+, but I'm not so sure there's much compelling story left to tell here. Overall 3rd season drops the show to a score of 60/80. Season 1 70, season 2 70, season 3 40.

You left off Rebecca trying to offer Ted a bunch of money to stay - that was so ham-fisted it was cringe. I'm supposed to believe after 3 years she doesnt know Ted well enough to gauge how he values family vs money?


Not my catch but somebody pointed out the book he was reading on the plane "How to Change Your Mind: The New Science of Psychedelics" so I guess he liked his mushroom trip experience even if Beard said they were bunk.

I had the impression from the finale that they might go to a TV series spinoff with a Richmond women's soccer team.

For me, the most annoying thing from the show was Ted's unexplained damaged relationship with his wife which seemed still unresolved in the finale.

Guy who plays Beard did an ama on reddit and said the sequences including the wedding did happen and weren't a dream fwiw.

I had a question from the Mom’s episode…two women show up at Rebecca’s house and then we never see why. It happened so quick that it didn’t really register…I think it was Rupert’s wife and Hack?? But I’m not sure. Wtf was that about?

Yeah, I was wondering about as well. I don't know who the woman with Bex was, but the best explanation I could come up with is that it was the victim of the Rupert's sexual impropriety that they mentioned briefly a couple of times in the finale.

Why does that matter? If he's dreaming about Beard's wedding, he's not up there as Beard's best man?

I guess if they showed him viewing it from where the best man might stand, then that would make sense.
