You know something? I love "The Orville"! Since it is renewed for a second season I think it warrants its own thread.
While The Orville was sold as a parody on Star Trek, it really has more of the spirit of Star Trek TNG than Discovery (which is still a great show in its own right). The way the stories are written, the ideals like tolerance and love TNG represented, the positivity - it's all there! And it's really well made; it doesn't look cheap in any way.
While there are more humorous elements than in TNG, it's definitely not a parody like Space Balls is to Star Wars; most of the funny scenes are more sensible chuckles worthy really; although some are hilarious like this one:
In a nutshell: If you liked Star Trek TNG and want more of that, I think The Orville is for you!
I like it a lot too. I thought the episode of the pseudo earth they went to with like/unlike buttons was great social commentary and a really great episode of television. Maybe real close to our own future

Well, I didn't know about Black Mirror. I only saw the first few episodes of BM and hated it. If Orville ripped it off so be it. I thought the Orville version was brilliant.
Yeah I liked the finale a lot, it was a bit of a ripoff of a Voyager episode but nice nonetheless.
I was thinking it was pretty identical to some Star Trek ep but hard not to repeat something in the cannon. Thought this ep was fun but super predictable.
This series seems like the closest thing to picking up Roddenberry’s baton but it’s still lacking in places. Tng s1 started slow too so I’ll stay hopeful.
This season has had some bad boring and/or weird storylines, and some really good episodes too. I still enjoy watching it, and hope they get season renewal. Some jokes land very well.
Any news on season 3? Really enjoyed this i found most of the sci-fi of the last 10-15 years poorly written and executed but this ticked alot of boxes.
Just looked it up on CancelledSciFi, and it seems there might be some politics involved:

A lot of eyes are on this show now as its ratings dropped notably in its second season and its status is tenuous at the moment. It did see significant gains in Live+7 delayed viewing which the broadcast networks are paying a little more attention to lately. But the recent Disney buyout of FOX entertainment properties reduces the stake that the FOX TV network (not part of the Mouse House’s acquisition) has in the show.
