Anyone else see this New Starz show, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Danny Huston? Miami 1959. Looks gorgeous, has potential.

More like Meh-gic City so far.

The first 3 episodes are sitting on on-demand and I have been very tempted to watch but have decided to wait until the season is over. I much prefer marathoning the entire season than watching them one or even 3 at a time.

This is my now preferred method of watching any ongoing story show now. Sometime this weekend (I hope) I will finally watch this season of Spartacus which I stopped watching after the second episode. I will feel much more into it if I do the marathon method.

Only watched the pilot today but I liked it. It was indeed kinda slow, but I put it on the fact that it's probably aiming to be a long serie, so I dont really mind that they give themself time to present and go more deeply into the characters later on.

2nd half of the 1st episode was definitly more intresting already. 2 more episodes are already out on the internet, so i'll watch them soon and see if my opinion changes.

So far tho, I'm intrigued. Oh and the "image" (how do you name that ?) is really beautiful.

Watched the pilot and thought it was ok. Starz renewed it for a 2nd season a month ago.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan looks so much like Javier Bardem it's crazy.

Show's pretty boring though.

Haha actually it came to me pretty spontaneously.

I had just finished watching the pilot when you posted this thread. I had high-ish hopes for the series but thought the first episode fell flat.

Saw it again...decent first episode...sets up the world well...it's a tad slight, but I like the lead character Ike.

Pilot was meh... The next two a little better. Fine for background grinding "entertainment". But to spend time watching it exclusively for an hour is a waste IMO. This ain't no Boss!

I think we should wait until the episodes are aired to discuss them.

As far as first eps go thought this was really good. I'll probably watch eps 2 & 3 today. Pretty sure the entire cast smoked at least 4 cartons of cigarettes in this first ep.

Watched the 3rd episode and I wont go into details but the story definitly picks up. It's worth a try, even for those who may havent been totally convinced by the pilot.

Olga Kurylenko (Ike's wife) is stunning.

I'll admit I'm continuing to watch it, but this could really be called "Cliché City" when it has lines like "You're not my real dad".

This show is really growing on me...I like it quite a bit. Great atmosphere, lots of naked girls, and fantastic style.

Starz is replaying the whole season next Friday before the season finale.

This is a really good show. Not quite top tier like Mad Men or Breaking Bad yet, but it's sneaking up on Justified territory.

Usually watching this while grinding, and I feel like I missed quite a bit of the first episode before I got interested in the series. Why is the blonde hooker so important? All the one guy could say is that the hook left together with the union guy, and after the receptionist commits suicide it seems like there is no reason to go after her since she won't cooperate with the police anyways.

The blonde hooker was with Mike, the union guy, when he was abducted. He later disappeared and was found dead.

What receptionist committed suicide??
Magic City Quote

I thought he was a receptionist at least. The red head kid who approaches a cop for some gay loving. He gets told by the DA that they'll make it a big story, then gets approached by Ben's guy saying that he'll tell everyone anyways if he testifies so he should just tell his mother, take Ben's bribe and get it over with. Instead of telling his mother he commits suicide in the bathtub.

It seems like after he dies the hooker should be in the clear because she doesn't want to help the cops anyways and now no one can pin her with being with Mike.
