Survivor S38: Edge of Extinction Main Thread - Page 44

I guess I wasted 20 years of my life watching this crap (well, 12 hrs twice a year at least). There are far better shows than Survivor for soap opera drama, IMO. I was mostly into it for the competition. Since it's all a farce I'm going to move on to something else. I'm just hoping Live PD isn't all made up too.

You could go to law school with all of this new free time on your hands

The big thing about Survivor that really just showed that they definitely do try to influence the event is when out of nowhere they introduced a twist at the final 4 that meant the loser of the immunity challenge had a second chance to make finals through fire.

It was never projected beforehand and Ben throughout that season kept "finding" immunity idols he's a war veteran and clearly the guy they would want to win a season so I think it's fairly obvious that it was tilted in his favour.

I think it's the same with Devens this season but less egregious.

Would love a season with no idols to switching things up a bit

or at least having to work really hard to get them...just walking around the woods for a few hours until you find it seems lame

Some folks in a previous season’s thread recommended Survivor Maryland (YouTube) for exactly this. I‘m almost finished S4, and while it’s not completely void of idols/advantages, the edit is really focused on the strategy and social politics that make the game appealing to the 2p2/gambling crowd.

If anyone listens to the Dom & Colin podcast (both were 2p2ers), they’re pretty high on the Maryland seasons too.

He actually holds the record for consecutive ME cashes, I believe it's 5 years in a row.

He's a personal friend of mine. A really solid guy, big heart. On first glance he could definitely come off as a type A Boston bro but anyone who knows him knows he's not like that at all. He has a really good head on his shoulders, and I think he has much better social skills and an understanding of people than any other poker player-turned-Survivor contestant they've had on.

Supposedly S40 has already been spoiled too, full boot-list and all (it finished filming earlier this month, I think).

Just a friendly reminder to be careful where you click (if you care about that stuff).

edit - given how easily the show gives in to recency biases (casting, twists), I'm pretty sure EoE wouldn't exist for S40, if S34 hadn't booted all of its stars so early (Malcolm, Tony, etc)

So the currency thing is just another stupid gimmick. Jesus I wish they would go the other way and just back to the fundamentals of the game and get rid of all the extra crap.
