It was ok/fine/typical. Seems like it could be a promising season though so I guess in that respect it was good

I wonder if the first couple of next boots will just leave rather than spend even one day alone with Reem. Would be hilarious to see after a few hours of her yapping someone just say **** it i'm out.

Lol @ "superfans" who have zero understanding how to play Survivor.

Lol @ Reem getting extra airtime due to EoE, not just this week, but next week and perhaps many weeks to come. The only reason they even have EoE is because they were scared the returning players would get targeted and axed quickly, right?

Everytime I see or hear the word Manu, I think Ginobili.

Lauren so fine.

The Secret Advantage could have been found by anyone, so there must be the same Advantage Menu hidden 3 feet from the well on the other tribe. If it lasted the whole game, then you could wait and see if you ever got moved to the other tribe's camp, and try to get it yourself sometime. But since it expires after the 3rd TC, and it's extremely unlikely you make it to that camp, you could theoretically make an ally and affect the other tribe's game by giving your Secret Advantage clue to someone on the other tribe, at the 2nd or 3rd tribal challenge. It might be hard to get the clue to the other person secretly though, so if it were you, would you try to do it, would it be worth it, and how would you get it to the other person?

The players take the boats to camp so the production team could easily get the heads up of who took the clue and only put it in the camp of that person before the contestants arrived.

Re: Survivor S38: Edge of Extinction Main Thread

Pretty typically terrible first tribal performance. Player comes in with chip on shoulder - "I'm not going to be first out just because I'm the oldest". Name gets out, rather than an intelligent defense, uses a passive aggressive "oh, yeah, everyone hates me" type response at tribal that guarantees elimination.

I can't say it was a promising first episode. The advantage menu is a bit weird. I'd probably keep it and use the immunity if I felt like I was in trouble, but otherwise just burn it. No need to steal reward and draw attention to yourself as a threat of any sort in the first few days. Stealing a vote is pointless this early.

I thought of something like that, or even them removing the other one if hidden previously, but here's the thing - if you tip off the producers that you're going to do this in a confessional, and then go through the trouble of slipping the secret advantage clue to someone on the other tribe, at a challenge, they're most likely gonna leave the advantage menu hidden by the well, or even plant one there if they haven't already, because that's just good TV. So the question remains - is this worth doing, and if so, how would you get it to someone on the other tribe?

yup, there is always someone willing to talk their way into being the first voted out , and the whole group is always willing to stand by and let them let do it as they are in "anybody but me" mode.

After all these years how can people not get that to avoid being first out simply requires not being abrasive/bossy/ rubbing people the wrong way.

it is not complicated..,

Guys, you don't get it, it was everybody else who was wrong, not Reem. She knows the game, and she has incredible social skills, just ask her!

"My social game is amazing and although I am honest to a fault, I know when to chill. I've been watching since 2000—I trust no one. Words mean zero to me. Actions speak louder!"

GTFO with the Wardog crap. What the hell is that? Who does that? My god, I hate him already.

Was the cute redhead posted earlier actually in the show at all? I don't remember seeing her.

The main thing I remember about Wentworth is that she was on with her farmer father who didn't get along with anybody, not even with her.

from that awesome article:

"8:30 a.m. – Catering
Having wrapped his producers meeting, Van Wagenen has an important call to make to an important man, and that man’s name is Jimmy Quigley. As a supervising producer, Quigley does a lot on the show as one of Van Wagenen and Probst’s trusted lieutenants, but there is one particular aspect of his job that every Survivor fan would kill for. “He’s the one who actually plants the idols!” says Van Wagenen. Yes, among Quigley’s responsibilities are the hiding of any and all immunity idols and advantages at the tribe camps. Whenever you see a player reach into a stump, or under a shelter, or up in a tree, or down in in the sand and pull out a package, it was put there by Jimmy Quigley.

“We don’t plant them until day of,” says Van Wagenen. That means Quigley has work to do, and beyond just hiding the idols. “There’s something else that someone from one of the tribes is going to get at the marooning,” reveals Van Wagenen. That something is a clue to an advantage hidden back at the beach. The only question that remains for Quigley is: Which beach? Since the clue could be found by someone from either tribe, Quigley can’t plant it until he knows who from what tribe scored it. “He’s keenly aware that we’re gonna have to plant this thing,” says Van Wagenen.

“We talked in the past few days about where it was gonna be hidden. A lot of times, if there’s a clue to something, and we know that it’s gonna go to a specific beach, we can be really choosy about where the idol goes on that beach. But in this situation, where we don’t know if it’s going to end up at the Manu camp or Kama camp, the clue has to make sense at either beach. While we have a clue that works for both camps, we won’t know which island to put it on until it is found.” Van Wagenen tells Quigley that he’ll contact him with the precious intel as soon as the clue is discovered so Quigley can head to that tribe’s beach and hide it before the contestants arrive. A race against time!"

Agreed she trainwrecked it, but as with roughly 97% of tribals in Survivor the votes were set in stone before, so it made zero difference what she did at tribal.

He played a good game in his season and probably would have won if his "I'll never turn on you" ally hadn't voted him out at the final tribal. He's ok, but yeah kind of boring and annoying so they could have definitely found someone better to bring back

Re: Survivor S38: Edge of Extinction Main Thread

Another great quote from that article. Production straight trolling the contestants:

"As for what he is most excited to see at the open, it is not who discovers the group reward. Nor is it who finds the individual advantage. But there is actually a third secret item on board, and this one is a bit of a misdirect. “There’s a small little thing,” Van Wagenen explains, “and who knows if it will even make it on the show, but we have a small little fishing kit that’s floating around that actually looks like the Legacy Advantage. We’re going to keep an eye on that and see who grabs that thinking that they got something. It’s still great, but they’ll come back to camp pulling that out of their pants and realize they just got a bunch of hooks."

Re: Survivor S38: Edge of Extinction Main Thread

Are you guys joking with the Wentworth stuff? She was 1 individual immunity away from dragging Spencer and Tasha's ass at final tribal, she voided more votes than anybody else with a single idol play, she's voided more votes all together than any other Survivor player ever. She's a strong player and definitely has been a part of some of Survivor's greatest moments. The Savage blindside was sick and when her and Jeremy both played their idols during Cambodia it was awesome

I actually don't think it was a strong start for her as David's, David is probably the better player. I know it was brought up last season with Gabby who is a completely different player but I have to think the hating Wentworth thing is gendered to some extent, I guess you could say she was excessively assertive but so was Wardog he was probably moreso by openly calling Reem annoying and Rick was far more "cocky" than Wentworth was in describing the minority and he doesn't have reason too either, Wentworth actually has a reputation

If any of the returnees "suck" it's Joe. He's voted out like 2 people over 2 seasons and is only good at challenges which could be forgiven if he was good television but he really is soooooooo boring and bland.

I legit didn't know people disliked Wentworth.

I thought she was universally liked.

I have no problem with any of the returnee's other than Joe being pure eye candy with no effect on the game, but whatever he's fine for the people who like him. I don't actively dislike him, just a non factor for me.

I thought so too. If we pulled up the thread from second chance season, I doubt there would be much of any negativity toward her in it
