She's obviously terrible at Survivor though, even aside from Chickengate. That said, she did have a legit hangup about killing the chickens, and almost didn't apply for the show solely due to that, but then instead hatched this "master plan".

Victoria had a fierce tweet post-show Wed though:

Bad read. She has Tourette's. Also read my post and the HR link. You can feel however you want about her, but your characterizations are inaccurate.

Re: Survivor S38: Edge of Extinction Main Thread

I dunno man, everything revots33 said is correct and it is why I SHOULD hate her, yet I still don't and it baffles me.

It's also not the Tourette's, I always associated that with people randomly shouting words. She just seems overly hyper and quirky with some ticks.

Only thing that I can think of is that she always seems so incredibly happy (only time she didn't smile was when she hurt her ankle but even then it was short-lived and she didn't make that big a deal out of it). That combined with the fact that she's clearly a nonthreatening nutjob probably makes her happiness come across as authentic to me.

These are some of the more shocking sentences. Have you ever considered that your preconceived notions about Tourette’s may have been...(gasp)...wrong?!

Re: Survivor S38: Edge of Extinction Main Thread

This is mainly written for educators and children, but largely still applies:

https://tourette.org/resource/unders...ette-syndrome/

Tourette Syndrome and its related disorders can manifest as behaviors that often appear to be purposefully disruptive, attention seeking or manipulative. It is therefore not unusual to misinterpret symptoms of the disorder as behavioral problems rather than the neurological symptoms that they are.

TOURETTE SYNDROME BEHAVIORAL SYMPTOMS

1. DYSINHIBITION

Difficulty consistently inhibiting thoughts and/or actions. Inappropriate statements or behaviors result from the student’s inability to consistently apply “mental brakes” – the child can’t stop himself consistently from expressing behaviors, thoughts, or displaying actions that someone else might be able to control. Behaviors might seem to be excessive silliness, being sassy, free-associative comments, emotional outbursts, contextual swearing, blurting out, inappropriate comments, explosive anger, and oppositional defiance.

For those with dysinhibition, a sign saying “Don’t Touch, Wet Paint” is an invitation to touch the paint. Obeying the sign means inhibiting the very behavior suggested by the sign. Inhibiting behaviors is challenging for all children, but presents a far greater challenge for students with TS due to their impulsivity and inconsistent ability to apply their mental brakes. This is not purposeful disobedience, but the inconsistent dysfunction of a brain affected by the chemical imbalances that cause TS.

2. OPPOSITIONAL BEHAVIORS

Many students with TS have a secondary diagnosis of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). Dr. Ross Greene refers to these children as being chronically inflexible and will typically display ODD behavior. The support team must look for the underlying difficulties such as OCD, ADHD, tics, processing difficulties, written language deficits, and sensory issues which prevent the child from expressing his needs or responding appropriately.

3. IMMATURE BEHAVIORS
4. REFUSING SUPPORTS AND ACCOMMODATIONS
5. OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE BEHAVIORS
6. ‘RAGE’
7. ‘FIGHT OR FLIGHT’
8. DIFFICULTIES WITH TRANSITIONS
9. USE OF INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE

I was thinking about this the other day and I think a homeless person could be a good casting choice that afaik has never been done before. The contestants closest to homeless have all made for good tv.

Just spend several hours paying homeless to chat with you in a major downtown area and get a relatively good looking and put together crack head (literally a cocaine only addict because no need for detox) with a big personality and tempt him with a little bit of money to be on the show and then get him secluded til the start of filming.

If he goes far could be utterly brilliant and if not should make for at least one ep of interesting tv.

Agree with both the positive and negative critiques of Wendy but more so the positive

Wtf I literally just implied that in my message, your reading comprehension is beyond awful.

I straight up admitted I didn't know much about Tourette's at all and just associated it with people shouting random obscenities. If I was better informed about it before, that could've been the reason I don't mind her actions, people are always a lot more forgiving towards people with certain disorders.

To me she just seems like a quirky girl that is wreaking havoc at camp with a big smile on her face and I still kinda like her. That's weird.

That also wasn't my take away from that message.

"It's also not the Tourette's, I always associated that with people randomly shouting words. She just seems overly hyper and quirky with some ticks. "

If the difference between what you were trying to say and what it could easily be misconstrued as, is the single "d" at the end of the word "associated" then it's probably not the best way to convey your meaning. I still think it can be read several ways.

Not sure what this means. It's clear you can win this game while not doing dumb stuff like releasing the tribe's chickens for camera time.

I'm with the person who said, earlier ITT, that Wendy is in this for the Sia $$, not to win. And put me in the she's annoying camp.

I suspect people who have made the most from their survivor season, did it after their season.

Re: Survivor S38: Edge of Extinction Main Thread

Again, people can feel about Wendy however they want to, but she did not release the chickens for camera time or Sia $.

From a pre-season interview, before she even started the season, already linked itt earlier:

"I was going to apply for the show a long time ago," she said, "but then I saw that they [would get] the chickens, and then they'd kill the chickens, and I thought, 'No, I'm not going to apply.' But then I thought, 'Aha! I can apply, get on the show and release the chickens. And that's what I'm going to do!'"

a cool twist would be have the entire extinction island group come back for a challenge and have 4 teams play - the team that comes in last goes to extinction island. expect the unexpected.

Re: Survivor S38: Edge of Extinction Main Thread

I kind of wish that they showed literally zero of extinction island on the main show and just make it a web series like the jury Ponderosa videos. Only two players are coming back and one of them is almost certainly going to be Joe so it seems like a huge waste of air time to give the players voted off an ongoing story.

I'm on the Wendy fan train. The kind of contestants I can't stand are like Natalie from last season - completely lacking in self awareness. Wendy seems pretty self aware, I suspect she knows her chances of winning are pretty close to zero, so she's out there causing trouble and having fun. I'd rather see that compared to someone trying to fly under the radar, or having a come to god moment trying to decide whether to stay in the game or not.

For those listening to the Dom & Colin podcast they talked about the edit. My thoughts are in the spoilers:
