Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain

http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/travel/b...html?hpt=hp_c2

Is anyone else excited about this show? I'm a huge Bourdain fan and pretty pumped. No idea how he's going to blend with the typical CNN shlock though. I'm curious if it will just be a retread of No Reservations or the Layover, or a big departure. Supposedly he's going to a lot more sketchy/dangerous places than the Travel Channel would let him go to.

Here's his blog on the big spat with Travel Channel - pretty entertaining stuff: http://anthonybourdain.tumblr.com/po...3/fighting-mad

I remember that one season when he would pay for stuff with a Capital One card in a really cheesy way. I'm glad he stopped doing that. I hate product placement.

Re: Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain

I'm excited for this as well and have been waiting for it. He was on CNN yesterday saying that with CNN he will be able to go to far more dangerous places and the opener will be in Myanmar. He said even though he is on CNN he is gonna stay far away from the politics. Think he said they have footage from the Congo which will be cool. Guess the #1 spot he wants access to is Iran but he also wants to get into NK.

Loved Kitchen Confidential (his book), TV show was okay-ish. I really liked the TV show he shot where he went back and worked on line for a day showing us what it's like to be a chef.

Wow the blog is really interesting. It does happen a lot within TV networks all around the world and he puts it out there very bluntly.

I do like Anthony Bourdain however his shows are not the type which I anticipate to watch. He's definitely among the best travel presenters IMO.

I wonder if they'll let him smoke on camera.

He's by far my favorite food show host. But limited tv options keeps me from watching his stuff. Plus tend to watch more instructional than entertaining. If he did more instruction would seek it out more.

He did a show dedicated to cooking techniques and a few basic dishes that you'd probably like. http://www.travelchannel.com/tv-show...des/techniques

Wow, how many shows is this guy on? Might be a bad move to whore himself out on TV so much.
Good thing he's got a good personality, people enjoy watching him.

It's only one show at a time, the name/theme keeps changing. Oh yeah that judge thing. Meh, I don't count that.

Wonder how long he will actually last at CNN. This man wants no part of political talk and they're gonna try and have him on all sorts of panels and ****.

Of all the gross stuff I've seen him or Zimmern eat, those developed embryonic eggs are the absolute worst.

I can't wait for this! Almost as excited as I was for the season opener of Game of Thrones, which is a lot.

Re: Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain

Does this show have the same creators/producers as No Reservations and/or The Layover?

The set up shots, narrating and music are really similar in all 3 shows. It seems like the only major difference is this show's on CNN and not The Travel Channel.

Yeah, seems to be very similar production in all 3.

Koreatown Los Angeles seems like a pretty weak follow up episode. I thought Myanmar was a solid starter and a good episode. That railway would scare the living **** out of me.

Re: Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain

I've got no problem with this being a lot like No Reservations, since that was one of my favorite shows. Sometimes you can mess with a good formula for the sake of trying to be different, and screw it all up.

I'm glad they're going the other direction from the Layover though – and adding more political stuff. I like to learn about places like Myanmar that I may never go.

So I'm pretty happy. But I'm an admitted Bourdain fanboy.
