Re: Survivor S37: David vs. Goliath Main Thread

When Gabby and Christian had that scene I almost thought she was going to offer herself to him on the spot. While it was kind of hot (and it was hilarious how clueless he was) she also has a case of the crazies I think.

Solid 5 person David alliance can coast until at least the swap, which is typically within a couple of weeks from now. And they didn't really lose anything by getting rid of Jessica because she wasn't a powerhouse at anything.

Natalie might be the most lol clueless player in recent memory. Smart of wrestler guy though to at least maintain cordial relationship with her in case he needs her down the road.

Smart elimination. "Keeping the tribe strong" is a futile goal for the David tribe. Voting off Lyrsa over Jessica or w.e makes no difference. They will still get crushed in any physical challenge.

Getting the majority alliance was very smart for Christian who seems to be running that tribe pretty easily.

Meh, the first challenge was close, this one wasn't, but that wasn't because of the physical part of the challenge. David got annihilated in the physical part, but that didn't matter, they were there over an hour. They lost the puzzle part of the challenge. They're likely to win the puzzle part of a future challenge.

LMAO at his approach:

"I'm a lawyer, I know how to deal with difficult people."
"Here's what's wrong with you..."

Yeah, their next potential boots are Carl, Davie, and Bi. They're gonna need some massive run good and persuasion skills at the tribal swap, or they're just gonna be at an enormous disadvantage at the merge.

The ones that told her wanted to work with her though. They didn't want her to get booted.

Would disagree here. If it was a standard puzzle, there'd be no physical element. That they had to hold the ropes and keep the table steady incorporates a great deal of balance and hand eye coordination into the challenge, plus (as it went on) stamina.

+1 to enjoying Gabby's 50 shades of grey act towards the most clueless nerd ever

Re: Survivor S37: David vs. Goliath Main Thread

You can see the progress that the Davids have made at the point that Goliath is about to win: the few pieces they have on the table are entirely wrong. Yes, the physical element of the ropes and balance and coordination hinders them, but that's not what lost it for them. They weren't good at this type of puzzle challenge. They were nowhere close to Goliath, solely in terms of puzzle solving ability on this particular puzzle, even after an hour. I would doubt that is true for most future puzzles.

Re: Survivor S37: David vs. Goliath Main Thread

Christian has a GF so I don't think he made the decision based on that. Why would he want to be 5th in the Bi-Jess-Carl-Davie alliance when he could be the decision maker in the new alliance?

I feel like CBS could do a better job in casting their black women. My mother in law has a really skewed view of black women because her experience with them is Big Brother/Survivor and Judge Judy contestants {sigh}. Natalie is different than their usual choices, but not in a good way.

The only time your mother in law has any kind of interaction with black women is during TV shows? Huh

This is not a bug, it's a feature for CBS' audience. Mainly, deplorables.

BB is a much, much bigger culprit of this than Survivor

Lives in a predominately white area and doesn't get out much. I'd be in the same boat as far as a lack of multi-cultural experience, but I went to college and I coach basketball. Even the few black kids I went to school with in high school...I don't think they are representative of city black folk (similarly all the crackers* I know would not be representative of city white folks). I grew up in a rural area. It's a different world. Regardless, I've tried to explain to mother in law that all black women aren't loud and brassy like Big Brother would have you believe. (Also, I'm not as put off by the loud brassiness as my mother in law is. I tend to be very live and let live and find different types of people with their different experiences and ways of interacting to be interesting. Everybody doesn't need to fit my idea of what is proper--how boring.) In any case, I can't help but thinking CBS drops the ball a bit in their casting choices in this area. Seems a disservice.

*I intend no disrespect to my fellow crackers.

Meh. It was “black on black crime”* so to speak. Jeremy should have laid low instead of trying to help Natalie. No good deed goes unpunished.

*joking of course.

I feel like you should lay low in the early going if you are a Jeremy type. Not that you can lay low if you are a paranoid-super-strategy-I-need-to-be-doing-something type. Natalie is in the crosshairs for bossing people around in general. So what does he do? Bosses them around about their Survivor strategy. In today's Survivor that's a bad move. I don't even think Boston Rob could get away with it anymore.

I think it's funny that they have these grandiose themes only to abandon them with an early swap.

Hoping that the fact they are showing a lot of Christian doesn't mean he's an early exit.

People really need to stop holding tribe meetings and telling people not to strategise FFS Jeremy. That was Garrett flashbacks.

I've never understood people who say they are super fans and make big moves early. Probably number one rule to winning Survivor is fly under the radar for the first (at least) 15 days and don't try to game play too early.

I can see the keeping Natalie strategy, in fact if I was thinking really long term I'd be looking to take her to the end if I could. She's another Philip and would never get any votes.

Christian is very aware of his game I think and has the right attitude. He can go far but as soon as he's targeted he will never win an individual immunity.

Jeremy's exit interview is really interesting. Essentially he got voted out for something they didnt show and constructed a narrative to make it believable according to him.
