She seemed to be willing to give up everything at camp, while at the same time making it transparent she was willing to give up much more. Not sure you're supposed to admit your offer is "lowball."

I applaud her for asking for rice, and it did work out well for the tribe, but mainly because Jeff was being nice about it. He did a bad job as well in the sense that they would have probably given up all that stuff and sat out.

It was kind of a"play bad and get there" type thing.

If he'd bragged about the negotiating classes and done the same thing my reaction would be identical.

There are shockingly poorly informed people about negotiation tactics itt.

Regarding the negotiation, I was really wondering what the non-lowball offer was going to be. Her opener was "we'll give you everything we have at camp except a knife and a pot" - like, what is she expecting as a counter? Jeff to take all that, plus come in and destroy the shelter and take their shoes?

That was my reaction exactly. For an opening offer to consist essentially of "here's pretty much everything of value at camp" and then to have footage of her talking about negotiations classes and Yale, methinks the editors probably made her look a little worse than it might have been. Or not.....

To show just what kind of society we're in now, I'm actually surprised there wasn't any post-show controversy over Kara's "let's call a spade a spade" statement to Carl at TC. I seem to remember something where a broadcaster got in hot water for using "chink in the armor" in a context with an Asian player. I'm put this on a similar par, although I guess she's just a contestant whereas for that broadcaster it was his job.

Negotiation segment was incredibly cringe, I could barely watch. She thinks her **** don't stink that girl.

Right move for Gabby, but her equity has gone from like 0.001% to 0.01%. I don't like it as much from Christian's perspective, mainly burning Davie and Nick. I think he should have been feeling them out much more, hearing their feelings about Carl bossing everyone around, and/or Angelina and get them on board, presumably for the latter. He's placed too much trust in Mike (who has voted for him twice), and Kara (no/little relationship ?), and Alison (whom is much closer to Gabby).

I think this is true tbh, Angelina has been getting ****loads of hate online. She hasn't played a great game or anything and seems to be just there as far as the actual game goes but the reception to her from the fanbase would not nearly be as bad as it is if she were a man.

I think she's the best character on the season and someone who'd have potential on another season.

angelina reminded me of michael scott when they got back to the camp and she said not to make a big deal out of her sitting out for the rice lol. you could see it in her eyes that she thought it was the greatest sacrifice a human has ever done.

The end-of-episode tease concerned me greatly re. Christian's hopes. He's become the fan favorite of this season, and with a couple of others (Nick, Davie) has been playing the best game. Gabby taking him out would provide her with her best chance to win, albeit still a long shot. She would rightly conclude that she has ZERO chance if she's sitting next to him at the FTC. So, what other plausible reason might there be for the tease? I've only thought of one to date...Christian (and maybe Gabby?) conclude that a TC vote is going to split 4-4 (several scenarios possible), so Christian crafts a plan to have Gabby convince everyone to throw their votes at Christian, who in turn plays his II. Christian/Gabby then pluck off their target. Not saying this happens, but it's a plausible reason to explain the tease other than outright disloyalty.

here's some quotes.

about why she admitted it was a lowball offer:

"it was part of the strategy. In many other negotiations on the show @JeffProbst will immediately shut it down, I wanted to show willingness to make it work so he didn’t just shut the door in my face. I knew my ceiling and the offer I accepted was below it"

"The reason I acknowledged that it was a low starting offer after @JeffProbst said it was: because Jeff is a very smart guy and I wasn’t going to insult his intelligence by not acknowledging this to be true. I also didn’t want him to walk away from the negotiation."

"Also I didn't present it as a low ball, it was only after Jeff called it out as a low ball offer that I acknowledged that it was."

about the value of her starting offer:

"My starting offer was low, bc everything I offered upfront had little to no value to us: fishing gear (we caught 0 despite trying), the majority of the cooking supplies except a small & a large pan (everything else we didn’t use), the chairs (broken), sitting hammock (luxury)"

"All of the stuff I offered in my starting offer we weren't using or was broken. It was a very low starting offer that only sounded like a lot because of the quantity of things I listed."

"Great question - i tweeted a bunch about this today- the short version is no, everything in my starting offer we either didn’t use or not functioning. So it was low in the sense that it would be no skin off our backs to give away the starting offer items."

about what she left out of her starting offer:

"What I didn’t include in my starting offer (intentionally): our flint, our machete, our hammer, any of our 3 tarps (we used all of them and with the crazy weather more rain could be on the way), our main hammock, our raft, or anyone’s individual immunity."

the ceiling:

"Our negotiation ceiling (which was discussed and agreed to by the entire tribe): my starting offer + 2 tarps + all of our blankets and pillows + the main hammock + our raft + 3 individuals sit out of immunity."

conclusion:

"The accepted offer: one individual immunity foregone (me), and we got to keep everything else. All our blankets, tarps, cooking supplies, fishing gear, etc. That’s a steal in my book. @JeffProbst has made people pay FAR more in the past. #Survivor"

"He didn’t turn it down, he countered and I accepted. His counter was well below our max."

"And we never met or came close to our reservation price in an interview with EW Jeff admitted I got a good deal."

about her response at camp:

"When did I keep reminding them? They thanked me at camp and I said “I don’t want to make a big deal about it”" (here I think the editing made it look worse than it actually was, like I originally said. we knew based on her confessionals what she really thought, but that doesnt mean it came off that way to her tribemates)

also, Carl said in his exit press that the whole tribe was behind her negotiation (who knows if thats true or just Carl's perspective)

so i think the criticism of her negotiation is very unfounded

Christian may be my favorite all-time player. His rambling to his "captive audience" Jeff after hours up on the pole was fantastic. Also I loled at his big grin when he walked up to Jeff for him to remove the immunity necklace.

Sadly I see absolutely no way he makes F3 without winning several ICs, every single person there knows they are playing for 2nd if he makes F3.

Either way probably best non-all star season ever, great cast, awesome tribals, can't ask for much more.

Kara is def looking hotter as the season goes on. She also is underrated at challenges imo, seems to be the most athletic female this season by a pretty good margin. She's playing a solid under-the-radar game but the edit gives her basically zero chance to win. She looks good for a possible 3rd place finish with zero jury votes.

That's not what she did. And Probst knew it.

Jesus people really need to stop posting about the negotiation. It’s really embarrassing, for the posters.

You are basically arguing it’s more insane to offer 9 dollar bills than it is a single 20.

Also, showing your tribe you are apparently good at negotiation to win rice, as opposed to say controlling a vote or FTC is bad. They won't let you starve, let someone else stumble around it.
