Liking most of the contestants for sure. Hey, when smarmy Southern villain-ish guy had the confessional about how everyone was being so vulnerable and he wasn't used to that, then started talking to the tribe about his mom and crying, did anyone else think it was going to cut to a confessional where he admits he was totally BSing, and that his mom is fine a la Johnny Fairplay/dead grandma? I was legit surprised that it didn't go that way. Felt a little guilty, actually.

That was a very good premiere. Probst forcing the theme was easily the worst part of the episode. The David's all seem really different to each other which is fun to watch.

Gotta feel bad for Pat. Wonder if he got any extra $$ for having that happen on the boat between challenges.

Cop made the most number of mistakes by far yet still get's a golden edit, I think he's the Michael of this season. "You got fat because you were a cop?" was funny

I usually like nerdy guys but Christian has to be one of my favs so far. Really really like him. Also enjoyed the vietnamese girl.
Thought for sure that guy talking about his mom dying was pulling a Fairplay just to fit in. Would've been more interesting.

Probst forcing the theming is always the worst. But i think i just cant stand Probst.

Ive sort of come around on the idea of the themes. It gives us a framework to begin developing the characters. The show doesnt need it imo, but with only 40 minutes per week to get to know people, it’s good to have a jumping off point

Best cast IMO in a while - seems like pretty rock solid game players. Especially funny how the David tribe divided into pairs almost immediately by either black guys, freaky lesbians or nerds.

Goliath tribe I'm picking wrestler guy (Johnny?) as my dark horse for final four. Seems like he has a pretty good ability to downplay all his physical skills and isn't dumb. Would love to see him make merge and hook up with the rocket scientist and I think they might ship it.

No one else really jumping out at me yet as being particularly interesting, but it's early.

Probably in a 19 year old's brain, a 22 year old is considered significantly older and therefore taken more seriously. When you're that age, it's the difference between being a college freshman and a college senior which feels significant.

Surprised you all liked this episode so much. I guess characters are interesting but man, Probst was ab-so-lutely unbearable for me.

That whole ******ed intro was the nut worst set-up. Lets add a super easy slide puzzle and a near impossible 15 block cube and let the david team decide who gets what. I like aspy guy but anyone on that boat would've solved that within a minute.

At the end when that guy got injured it's so painfully obvious Jeff doesn't give a rat's ass about what happened but just wants to cover his own ass and the show. Everything he says is so calculated it's chilling.

Anyway, team gabby & christian I guess.

What do you guys think about how most challenges will go? Seems like Goliath has a pretty big physical advantage, while David has a pretty big puzzle advantage. Could see lots of challenges going down similar to this one, where Goliath takes a lead, and then the question becomes, can David make up the time on the puzzle or not. Which probably comes down to how much quicker Christian is than Dr Alison.

Considering every season where they arbitrarily split the teams up as a means for a gimmicky theme, they end up abandoning it two or three weeks in by mixing the tribes up, we're not really going to see that many challenges with the current dynamic. Enjoy it next week and possibly the week after, I suppose.
