Here we go again! The Emmy Award-winning series returns for its 29th season, Survivor: San Juan del Sur, with a special 90 minute premiere on Wednesday, September 24th at 8PM ET on CBS.

This season sees the return of the Blood vs Water twist from season 27, but this time, with twenty eighteen all new players. We will also see the return of Exile Island for the first time since Survivor: Tocantins replacing Redemption Island.

What Does It Mean to You to Play “Survivor” with Your Loved One? Playing with Jaclyn is an incredible opportunity. I’ve learned in the past that experiencing adversity with others can build the relationship you have together (if you do it correctly). MRKH syndrome affects one in approximately 4,500 women around the world.

Reason for Being on “Survivor”: To challenge myself socially, mentally, and physically. Also, to win the million dollars to be able to adopt and have a surrogate to start a family.
Why You Think You’ll Survive “Survivor”: I am a survivor in my everyday life because I was diagnosed with a life-altering syndrome at 16 and didn’t let it destroy me. Being told I wasn’t “normal” and could never have kids was the last thing I wanted to hear at that age. I’ve learned to try and turn every negative into a positive and that life will always throw hard things at you, but it’s how you handle those obstacles that matter the most.
What Does It Mean to You to Play “Survivor” with Your Loved One? Jon and I get to experience something that only three or four couples ever have. Blood vs. Water seems to be so much harder than playing as an individual because we have to learn how to maneuver through this social and physical game together. Our sole purpose of being on this show is to challenge ourselves, but to also win to start a family by adoption or surrogacy.

I am looking forward to being able to watch her in settings that I may not get to see again and hopefully watch her excel in them. I’ll have to move past the image of her being my “little girl” to her having grown into a confident proud woman, one that can handle herself in any situation that life can throw at her, and know that she will come out on top, or at the least, throw some “mean punches” on the way as she will never quit trying, no matter what. Why You Think You’ll Survive “Survivor”: I have world class athletic abilities and leadership skills. I have the ability to read people and morph my personality in a way that lets me mesh with people from all walks of life.
Why You Think You Will Be the Sole “Survivor”: A relatively significant part of “Survivor” depends on athletic ability and I spent more than a decade of my life physically competing at the highest level. I still retain much of that physical ability as well as the mental toughness that is required. I also possess a high quality of outdoor survival skills which will be valuable to those around me as well as leadership skills and the ability to influence people and easily make friends.

I am excited to play the game with Jeremy but our game will probably be different and that will be hard because I may have to change my game and go against my gut based on his instinct. Playing with a loved one brings emotions to the game right from the beginning. You have to watch their back just as much.

Should be a great season.

After skimming through the bios, I'm pretty confident that 2/3 of them have never seen the show, and even the ones who have still seem pretty dumb. On paper, it's the weakest cast I can remember in a long time.

Oh look the obligatory gay couple. How original.

It's like the producers had a casting list of:

I guess we could have all Survivor geeks but, for me at least, that would be pretty boring.

My point being that they seemed to cast based on a list of couple types. Why not just cast interesting people? That might mean that you end up with 9 married couples but if they are interesting people who cares.

The couple type casting requirements likely leads to weaker casting.

I don't think you need to do much more than say you're a gay Christian couple to get on a reality show.

From the answers it seems like the recruits only saw Caramoan and Cagayan. Could be a fun season given that we are guaranteed to see some god awful gameplay.

Aren't they suppose to cast at least one pair that are professionals/nerds/might have a frickin clue strategically? What a terrible cast in that regard.

Awful cast. The only hope is that Tony didn't really impress me too much pre game last season either. But you had Sarah and LJ, and probably the whole of the brains tribe (ON PAPER) who looked like better bets in the game than pretty much every one this season.

First Impressions; Will be fun to lol at me post-season.

Jon M. - I liked him at first but watching the video made me question if he's all there. I think he will be too focuses on his own game and not be very aware of what's going on around him. He'll probably make the merge but get blindsided soon after.

Jaclyn S. - Seems kinda average. May hang around for a bit but shouldn't go deep.

Keith N. - Seems really likeable but his age will hurt him physically and socially with a lot of the younger cast mates. Feel like he will be an early exit.

Wes N. - LOL this guy. Will get voted out soon. Comparing himself to Russel made me lol. Seems a lot like Spencer but the issue is that 99% of people that think like that are usually wrong. Spencer was an exception.

Drew/Alec - Very similar. I like them both individually and I think that both will make the merge, but will then become targets for having a loved one with them post merge. Feel like whichever one of them realizes they have to turn on the other will go really deep, possibly even to FTC.

Nadiya/Natalie - Neither seem very impressive. Would expect both to be gone post-merge.

Dale W. - Similar to Keith, seems really likeable but it just seems so hard to do well in this game the older you get.

Kelley W. - I like her a lot. Should go far imo.

Josh/Reed - These guys are awesome and should do well. However if Reed is right that Josh struggles with his poker face, it may be tough for Josh. If people get the sense you're bull****ting them it causes paranoia. Almost reminds me of a male version of Kat. Reed seems like he will be very aware of his surroundings without giving off much. He seems like the type of player to sense a blindside and pull out a HII. Think Reed goes far.

Missy P - Does not look 47. Seems very smart and aware of her abilities. I see her making the merge but getting voted out shortly after.

Baylor W. - Seems very ditzy. Won't go far.

John R. - You think he's a favorite since he's super fit and attractive but idk. Seems a lot like Brad C. from the first BvW. Just gonna piss some people off early and never recover.

Julie M. - Will probably get voted out pre-merge and be completely oblivious to it.

Jeremy/Val - I like them both but not crazy about Val. Jeremy seems to be a favorite.

Meh. I don't like their chances. Jon putting a lot of positive press out there about himself which always makes me skeptical.

Keith Nale & Wes Nale (Father & Son)

These guys look like they could be funny. Particularly the dad. I'd give them both a shot. Son might be able to fly under the radar a bit...not seem as threatening as some of the other males...not have to deal with their partner's BS like some of the men who are playing with wives, daughters, girlfriends, boyfriend.

Drew & Alec Christy (Brothers)

Nice to look at. Perhaps a little shy on the substance. When I read the bios, I thought I was going to like the younger brother more, but after the video it seems more like a toss up. I don't really like their chances. Would probably give the younger one the edge.

Natalie & Nadiya Anderson (Sisters)

These guys were way less annoying than I anticipated after some of the complaints from people who were familiar with them from AR. Maybe it's something that builds up over time? Even so, I don't like their win chances.

Dale & Kelley Wentworth (Father & Daughter)

I don't like dad's chances, but I think Kelley has killer instinct. I just wonder if she might be abrasive in practice??? Not sure on this one.

Josh Canfield & Reed Kelly (Dating)

These guys are so gay. Again, I was leaning towards Reed after reading the bios, but I think I prefer Josh after the video. Not sure how well they will be able to mesh with this particular cast. A lot of the other guys are kind of macho-y. Not sure if it's a singing and dancing crowd. They both seem seem sweet, so I don't like their chances. Survivor not a game for too nice.

Ok, I'll just admit right now, cheerleading...not my thing. These guys way more annoying than the twinnies. Maybe they will surprise me. I doubt it.

John Rocker & Julie McGee (Dating)

What a meat head. I liked him a little better than I thought I was going to, I suspect he'll fix that shortly. Julie another one with seeming killer instinct, but I'm not sure she can keep herself in check and is probably ill equipped to plan Survivor moves.

Jeremy & Val Collins (Married)

I liked Jeremy a lot, but I wonder if he might be a bit too nice? Also, wifey might be a problem for him. I question whether she will be able to put up with people's crap...seems a bit no nonsense. I WAS impressed by her banging out the push ups though. I'm hopeful for them. They were my favorite couple.

I can't really imagine who is going to win this season.

edit: Reed seems dialed in to play the game, but I fear his mouth is going to run too much.

Given Probst's aversion to quitters, I wonder if he realizes that the twinnies basically quit in TAR Allstars. Given how bad they were there and how annoying they are will be amplified on Survivor, I believe they will be an early exit.

A+ OP. Not excited for the cast but in nonetheless.

As in the video he says his son lives with him, both are obv from LA originally. Also the brothers are from Winter Park, FL, so there might have been a copy and paste issue.

Looking forward to this season since there are no returning survivor players, should be an interesting dynamic for B vs W
