Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
I'm watching season 12 again. Watching Shane makes me hate Russell even more since Russell is the reason Shane was booted for HvV. Shane may be a slightly worse player, but he's such better TV.

LOL. You just had to start stuff. Like he couldn't be taking exception to you saying Russell was ONLY a slightly better player...let alone that Shane was better TV. It's all very amusing.
Shane probably isn't even top five in the good TV department. Coach, Russell, Rob M., Rob C., Tyson right off the top of my head.

Well I won't continue the debate b/c I don't want to be vilified again, but I disagree with your 5.

I am curious why I am accused of "starting stuff," but all the morons who accuse people who rooted for Sandra and acknowledging how awesome she is at this game of being spoiled just get to speak freely.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
cause she's not.
she's incredibly uninteresting and way too full of herself for how lucky she got.
and lol @ saying shane is better for tv than russell and he's a legend.
Yeah ok russell isnt a legend. He'll probably be the most remembered survivor in 10 years from now. probably more than jeff probst.

Regardless what you personally think of her as a player, it's absurd to assert people who are fans were spoiled.

You are accused of starting stuff because just a few posts back you were rightly pointing out how boring the thread is when we all agree. Then, like two seconds later...you are...well, starting stuff. I'm for it FWIW.
I'm not sure if that's my top 5, but it's five that are better for TV than Shane right off the top of my head. I liked Shane too, I think. Seems I remember him making me laugh.
You have to keep in mind that for some reason people love to hate. So Russell has a leg up on all comers. Some people love him and some hate him. He gets a strong reaction from both sides. It's hard to be better for TV than him. Really hard. Either people are loving his antics and rooting for him. Or they hate him and hope he falls face first in the fire. (Which would never happen because he would not be tending the fire so that everyone stayed warm and so forth.) My everywoman hates Russell, but admited without any prompting from me that he was what was keeping her interest in S19.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
I was seriously considering un-ignoring kart (because I love any and all high-volume posters ITT), but the Shane > Russell thing kills it. FFS, even SHANE admitted Russell was better TV. Sigh...maybe next year, kart.

You can't possibly imagine how heart-broken I am...
And that would be FAR from the first thing Shane was wrong about.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
They obv. should have booted Randy instead and switched the Courtneys so we could have had Shane Powers + Courtney Marit Part 2 (has there ever been a more dysfunctional pairing, in life, than this one?).
I've also recently rewatched Exile Island, and Shane should get a free pass onto any season he wants imo, the guy is TV gold. Shane vs. Russell would have been far more epic than this second-rate-by-comparison alpha male collision we had between Rob and Russell.

While a Courtney-Shane "reunion" would have been beyond awesome, Courtney Yates is among my all-time favorites. She delivered amazingly in HvV.

Ok, Shane is a lot worse. I forgot how big a mouth he had about strategy.
But for my money he's still MUCH better TV. I guess I am not as entertained as y'all by someone saying 1000000x in confessionals "I'm the greatest player of all time!" while misplaying over and over again.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
Basic strategy question: I watched Survivor at first but then have gotten away from it the past 7-8 years. Surely strategy has evolved in that timeframe. Do people throw immunity challenges here to appear weak or is that just a BB thing?

There have been examples of that but rare. It is far worse to lose a challenge in survivor than it is in BB so people don't do it much.

See, I DO think that's entertaining. I'm all for people making fools of themselves for my entertainment. Obviously, I enjoy it a little more on The Ulimate Fighter when they run their mouth about being so great and then can actually get their @$$ kicked if their many pronouncements are not correct.
But even Russell's process is entertaining. He stirs up strife. Bullies. Manipulates. Sabotages. I'm impressed by how he manages to get his way so often. Disappointed that he can't figure out how to get his way when it counts. But then, also a little amused as well. Because regarding getting the votes at the end, he seems as wildly clueless as many of his fellow competitors are as to how to get to the end in the first place. The irony is kind of delicious.
On a related note, I do have my bounds. Joeydumbazz and Frankienumbnuts ARE on my ignore list after all.

I just moved onto S15 China. I am really starting to think Todd is GOAT even though he hasn't played a 2nd season yet. He's my #1 "hope they bring back some day."

Survivor China is next on my list of older seasons to watch
I only have finished Borneo, Australia, Pearl Islands (awesome season), Exile Island (my absolute favorite), Gabon, Tocantins, Samoa, and HvsV
What site are you using to watch China?
