i like jill's gameplan but i think she might be making it a little too obvious how under the radar she's trying to be, i think her 'whatever i don't care' was almost too forcefully avoiding responsibility. marty being in control will probably be well and truly on to that later

I'm going back on forth on the whole JJ thing (wrote up a post defending Marty before deleting and reevaluating), but the more I think about it the more I dislike it. Jimmy J is never going to target Marty, and JJ being leader(/'Coach') allows Marty to go UTR. Yes, Marty's tight with the people JJ wants to boot, but Marty could easily persuade JJ to vote off Holly instead. Even if there is some sort of tribal switch-up, I can't imagine JJ being savvy (or 'disloyal' as he would put it) enough to flip, and he will remain an easy target. He's exactly the kind of person that Marty should want around: a pawn with a massive target on his back.

ETA: Also, wtf Jill at pressuring your closest ally to show the most valuable tool in the game to the tribe.

Shared wtf for Alina and Kelly B. for not having found the idol yet.

Marty is setting himself up to be Russelled. Good chance of making FTC. Little chance of winning.

Given how up in arms italians are about jersey shore I am surprised the NAACP has never gone after survivor. I swear they always have the worst stereotypes for black women :P

So far I've really liked this season though.

I think you underestimate how much of an @$$hole Russell is to his jury pool. Or perhaps, I am overestimating Marty's ability to be tactful when it comes down to it.

One potential problem I see with Marty trying to get rid of JJ so he can have control of the tribe is that Jimmy T's annoyance will now fall on Marty. Jimmy T wants control or at least to be used and appreciated. It will be interesting to see how Marty handles Jimmy T and Tryone in the future.

what's worse is he wasn't even stuck with that name. He chooses to go by it. His name is actually Ben Henry (last name not middle)

are you talking about the vidcaps taken directly from the preview of episode 4 at the conclusion of yesterday's episode?

it's something that creates a constant buzz around the water cooler and keeps people anxious and excited for next week, effectively hyping each consecutive episode

Jimmy Johnson exit interview

Quote:
Jimmy Johnson will not be adding the title of ‘Sole Survivor’ to his formidable list of accomplishments anytime soon. The two-time Super Bowl winning coach was voted out of Survivor: Nicaragua last night, undone by other men jealous of his success and celebrity status. I talked with Jimmy today about the plot to get him out, his frustration with Jimmy T., and how he dealt with his ultimate foe in the game — Father Time. Read on after the jump for the full Q&A!

Why is Dan still in this game? The guy can barely walk!
Just following Survivor over the years, sometimes if an individual is not a threat and he doesn’t rub anybody the wrong way and he can get into an alliance, he can hang out there for a while. And that’s the only thing I can think about on that one.

How come you didn’t make a strong move to get him out?
I approached the game a little differently. I went into it just wanting the adventure. I had no thoughts that I’d be going out to win a million dollars or anything like that. In fact, I told people that if we ever got to that point that I was going to give it to charity anyway. I had my adventure. I really didn’t have an alliance. I probably could have formed an alliance with the gals and gotten Dan out of there. But I really approached it like a team effort. As much as I tried to convince them that I wasn’t a threat, Marty and some of the rest of them still felt like I was.

You’re a keen evaluator, so were you aware out there that Marty was trying to pull a power move?
No. It was a surprise, Even watching the episode last night, that was a surprise to me. I didn’t know that was taking place, because Marty and I had plenty of conversations and I didn’t know that he was in an alliance with Dan. I assumed he had an alliance with Jill, but he also had a connection with Daniel, too. And I didn’t know that he still considered me a threat.

Was this about jealousy? Everyone wants to take down the top dog, and you being a celebrity, that made you the top dog.
I don’t know. If it was, more power to them. They stayed in the game and I didn’t. But I never looked at it that way,

Let’s talk about Jimmy T. I was out there and saw you getting annoyed at him at the very first challenge when he tried to yell instructions to the other team doing the puzzle to confuse them. How hard was it to know that this was not a football team and you couldn’t just walk over and say, “Hey, you’re cut.”
Jimmy T. is a volatile person and I think he probably irritated — just with is personality — a lot of people. In fact, the very first vote we could have taken Jimmy T. out. There were a lot of tribe members that wanted Jimmy T. to go the very first week. And I kind of convinced them not to take him out, because I was thinking we were going to have some physical challenges. As it turned out, we didn’t have a lot of physical challenges. Even on the challenge last night he was in my ear continuously. He wasn’t even supposed to be in the rotation to throw the sand bags. Tyrone was supposed to be out there. But kept on and kept on, so finally I said “Okay, get in there.” That’s just his personality.

When I watched you lose that first challenge, I said to myself immediately, ‘That guy’s gotta go. He’s too divisive.’
Well, I hung on to him for the simple reason that I thought we’d have some physical challenges, but as it turned out, really it was never a factor. At least while I was there.

You kept talking about how difficult it was out there, saying it was even harder than two-a-days. How much do you wish you could have played this game when you were in your 20s or 30s, as opposed to your 60s?
I talked to my wife about it last night. I think when you look at how taxing it is on the individual, it’s even more taxing on an older player. Because some of those young players can lose 8 or 9 pounds, and not have their food, and lose some sleep, and deal with it. There at the end, I had lost 18 pounds. I had no energy of any sort. I really felt like it was more demanding because of me being 67 years old.

Who were you closest with out there?
The closest relationships I made were with the women: Holly, Yve, Jane, and even Jill. And I thought I had a good relationship with Marty, but I didn’t know Marty was trying to get me out.

There was some controversy last week over Shannon’s comments at Tribal Council, asking Sash if he was gay and saying that New York was full of gay people. What was your reaction while watching that go down?
I actually thought it was funny. I was really taken aback by some of the comments. I was just there laughing. I called my wife and said, “You gotta see this.”
He apparently bonded very well with Shannon at Ponderosa

I can't wait to see the videos

Sucks to see Jimmy go. I was never much of a fan before Survivor, but I have a lot of respect for him now.

Highlight of the episode: NaOnka calling Jud dumb. Uh, aren't you a PE teacher? And you can barely speak English. I hope Kelly B. throws YOU into the fire.

I don't know about you guys, but for me, there's a line you can walk where you're douchy-but-in-an-enjoyable-TV-way (Shannon, Holly, etc.) instead of just being an unlikable, evil person (NaOnka). Yeah, NaOnka creates some dramatic TV moments, but all I can think of when she's on the screen is, "Wow, how do people like this exist?" Her drama isn't fun, it's just vile.

You can't compare Jimmy to anyone else who has ever played. He was handicapped by his celebrity and had to do things differently than normal. I don't know if he tried to swing that voting block, but calling him WOAT is obviously ridiculous. He's an above-average player in a very recognizable 65+ year old body. It would have been surprising if he made it through more than ~4 votes.

No one wants to see fat people on TV (except Cirie!), so they have to make the challenges somewhat of a level playing field. I don't mind that, but damn, at least make them a bit less boring.

Jimmy isn't going to say anything controversial or mean because he has a TV persona to protect. His agent probably coached him up good on how he didn't want to come across as a villain.

Then again, his agent did sign him up to do ******* commercials...

Did anyone else notice that Fabio/Jud didn't have his name in the opening? In week one, it was Jud. In week two, it was Fabio. In week three, nothing. Seems...odd.

How did Jimmy T. win a fan vote of any kind? The guy is a huge douche and has zero charisma. The only thing I can think of is that he works for a big company and got everyone there to vote for him. I can't think of any other reason people would actually want to see this idiot on TV.

wondering this too. He's not remotely entertaining. Even though i agree about Naonka at least she provides the shock value entertainment. Jimmy T is just irritating beyond all reason. I am surprised Holly/Jane didn't organize a block vote to eliminate him because they could have. on that note, Holly has got herself back in an absolutely terrible spot now.

Yea you are right Kos,

I overreacted by the trauma of having 2 of my favorite, entertaining characters voted off in back-to-back weeks due to their incompetence

I was pissed because JJ failed to even attempt to rally the troops and was very accepting of the tribe's decision to vote him off (reminiscient of the "i'm here for the experience" blonde douchebag that ruined the dynamic of post-merge Marquesas, which was a snoozefest)

I am henceforth jumping on Fabio's and Yve's bandwagons (both seemingly in the minority of their tribe)

As Coachbag infamously once said, "Pray for the merge"
