Also we forgot about one of the GOATs, Cirie. She broke the stereotype "rule" for black women on Survivor.

Yeah Taj. Vecepia wasn't like that either. Actually it's starting to feel like we have stereotyped more than survivor has.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

alina looks less like a pre-teen with her hair down. we need more of that.

the casting director deserves a nobel prize.

purple kelly in mud makes me happy to be alive.

re: jimmy johnson as a leader...i feel like if there were ever an exception it would be here. based on his high profile job, he's damned either way so no harm in leading imo.

really hoping they have pics of shannon and sash's ex and current gf's at the reunion show and allow an audience vote to determine hottest.

it's amazing what editing does. all the 40+ grew on me this week after i was very meh after ep 1.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

No, it's Survivor. Taj, Vecepia, and Cirie were all a bit older (all over 40?) so I think the stereotype still holds that every young black woman they've cast is a mouthy fresh beeyatch. Like they just take the leftovers from Flavor of Love auditions. It's pretty sad.

And so many of the black contestants (mostly male) end up being considered lazy , or total let downs as far as what they brought to their tribe or show.

Saw the youngin implosion coming from a mile away but holy **** I didn't think it'd happen this quickly. They are clueless as to what information to keep to themselves and what to share and way too emotional. I expect epic tribals like this to continue whenever the young tribe goes to tribal council.

Also Probst's reaction to Shannon's response to the first question at tribal was hilarious.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

In all the seasons I've watched I can't remember an episode this early being this good.

Thoughts:
- Marty + idol = ruh roh (ty Jill!)
- Tyrone is one of the most unintentionally funny people I've seen, right up there with Jud
- Marty + Yve are good (though Yve was sadly invisible this episode), Brenda is showing promise, and Alina, Kelly B and Jill seem reasonably competent so far. Everybody else is a moron.
- Alina's getting hotter every day <3
- Why would you go to a part of the woods where you can't see if anyone's in your shelter, and then discuss your plans at max volume? Common sense in future please.
- The extra clips on CBS provide a lot of good insight (although some of them are v. tilting, 'I hope he loses his vocal cords and he can't sing his little gay country music any more', stfu and return to your trailer you ****)

It was cute when they told the guys they were being emotional, but they really should have taken the easy mark and voted off Shanaynay. Yes, Brenda is the bigger threat, but no one (and most importantly Chase) is going to offer up much resistance to voting off Shanaynay. Knock in the gimme putt and re-evaluate the new situation. But I'm okay with this mistake as it has made and I believe will continue to make for fabulous train wreck TV.
Hopper is Kelly B, unnamed girl is Alina. I thought their execution was bad initially, but on reflection I think they actually played well. As they said, booting NaOnka is going to be trivial as her personalty is unlikely to change. This way, they keep a weak player in the game for now, while drawing attention to Chase's double-dealing and Brenda's status as a magical cocktease hypnotist. The ideal situation would be somebody UTR like Kelly Purple going home (thus preserving the NaOnka-Fabio, Shannon-Sash rivalries while making Chase and Brenda unpopular) but that would be impossible to engineer, and wouldn't have worked anyway after Shannon imploded at TC; given that, I think it worked out about as well as it could have done for them. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit; it wouldn't be the first time somebody stumbled onto the correct play by accident (viz. Sugar). Alina made a mistake imo in not joining with Kelly B. in flipping her vote to Shannon; the only upside to staying on Brenda is that it signifies to the others that the votes are there for booting Brenda the next time they go to TC, but it's definitely outweighed by the fact that, if Brenda is out for revenge, Alina becomes one of the highest targets on her list.

Your thoughts on this Soncy (or anyone else)?

Agree with everything in the first paragraph, but I like targetting Brenda (from Shannon's alliance's POV) over the easy mark, simply b/c the longer you leave bigger threats in the game, the more time they have to do the things that makes others consider them a threat (work people, win immunity, etc.). With that said, I'm glad Shannon went home instead.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Do I know how to pick 'em, or do I know how to pick 'em? So absolutely standard for me. Shannon was a disaster. I love the guy, and I think he's great TV, but he's an atrocious player. Just shut your ****ing mouth, dude, and you're fine. But whatever...someone should ban me from ever making pre-game predictions because I'm guaranteed to pick the most wacko, awful player every single time. In fairness to me, I did say Marty would be the best player out there, and that seems to be a lock at this point, but I should probably just stop watching the pre-game bios and go into episode one cold from now on.

I thought it was going to be Sash, but I'm not getting that vibe at all from him now. He seems very charming, and based on his bio video, he probably has some brains. He could go real far.

i think your being way too hard on jimmy. hes coming in a very bad position and playing it okay imo. there are a couple people on the old tribe already on the choping block before him(holly, jimmy t prob goes insane, maybe even alligator shoe guy gets taken down with holly) usually a guy like jimmy j would be first gone.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

it's really amazing how these people get it wrong every time. We want brenda out and we have 5 votes so we need her boyfriend to turn on her to get the 6 we need. Why not vote out Noamka or whatever her name is now that everyone is willing to vote her out and then vote out whoverer the f you want when you have the numbers.

Out of the previously-on-survivor segment in the beginning I was pretty sure Brenda was not going anywhere and is probably going very deep in the game. When she was talking to Chase it was like Parvati 2.0. We'll see if the older people will have any of that after a merge.

This mendalion power is very good for keeping a balance of numbers between tribes. Much more interesting to see a merge at 5-5 or 5-4 instead of the 7-4 etc.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

awesome tribal council, funny how much of a ****** naonka is and somehow manages to get out-meltdowned. man major fps from shannon in the first place, boot naonka and there's no probs

imo the idol thing isn't the worst idea from jill, players rarely turn on that kind of connection so they're basically together now, not a terrible idea to solidify an alliance at this stage esp since marty is probably one of the smarter players. def a cut above some of the other members although overall the older tribe has a lot of potential (lol jimmy t, holly, dan tho)

lots of entertaining players though, tyrone's sarcasm is awesome

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

great episode, epic meltdowns all around.

-I liked Jimmy J's little pep talk to the psycho lady, I can tell he's a natural motivator
- Alina moving up the hotness scale, purple kelly still #1 I think.
- liked fabio a lot more after this episode, not sure he's smart enough to go far.
- can't wait for more impending blowups

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

I'm legitimately impressed at how stupid the younger tribe is overall. It really doesn't matter how smart Brenda is, she could be very average and come off amazing this season just because of how dumb everyone is around her. Jesus. At least it made for an entertaining tribal council.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

I like Jill's play of telling Marty about the idol. It gains trust. They both seem to be in a great positions on their tribe so I doubt they'll need it premerge. Of course, I think it would've been better not to tell Dan about it. He seems like he's a wildcard that might let it slip they have the idol.

I'm guessing they are going to do an early season mix up of tribes. No way they go all the way to the merge young vs old. Backgrounds will be just too different to prevent alliance switching so it's better to mix them up asap. I'm guessing 2 more vote offs of young vs old and then a drop your buffs moment.

yeah i was thinking about this last night. it seems like all the girls like him, he's in the "minority" alliance (although i think naonka will ruin it for them), and he doesn't seem to piss any of the guys off (except shannon but that's a moot point now). there's not a whole lot to go off challenge-wise, but physically he looks like he'll be solid without having a huge target on his back.

anyone have a link to the easier version of the immunity idol clue?

The what have you of power is tiltling me.

The correct play was either to not use it, or make your best attempt to use it on the last event before the merge right?

Also Alina is super hot

Jimmy T. is from my hometown, I wanted to like him, but I don't.

I still can't believe that crazy lady went and confessed ruining the shoes. WTF was she thinking? It was an awesome move, and she should have been helping to look for them. It was a nice Hantz-like moment, followed by a self-destruct-like moment of confession.

Ugh, I'm tilted just thinking about it.
