LOLWendy.

And constructively, I actually like the idea of the MOP, should make the tribes relatively balanced when they go into the merge, as the tribe with a numbers disadvantage will almost always use the MOP when given the chance.

wow what a great episode. some awesome personalities already. LOL at someone saying "women already win at marriage"

i think brenda's by far the best girl. saw right through chase and could be a poor woman's parvati.

episode reaffirms my suspicions that old people are crazy. Jimmy T's "I need to lie down I'm getting too excited" rant was funny. Tyrone...pretty funny together guy from the looks of it, my early pick to win because he's at least guaranteed getting to merge with that mess of a tribe.

Nobody wants to turn on survivor and be looking at a giant, bright green, 1 piece bathing suit on an old woman with short red hair.

Brenda Lowe is hands down(imo) the most attractive girl they've had on survivor. I'm not just saying that because I'm disgusted by North American white women...but it's a factor.

when La Flor entered the 1st immunity challenge doing that group dance was anyone else reminded of pagong's tribe dance in the 3rd episode of borneo?

A+ premiere imo.

First thoughts: Yve is awesome ('Decide, children'), Shannon is hilarious, and I really really want to see Marty + MILFs alliance.

Marty's FB page says he's a fan of Ayn Rand. My mancrush keeps growing <3

Wait a sec, Look at Kelly B's picture in OP's post. She has toes on both feet. Did CBS airbrush in toes to hide the fact that she is an amputee or something? How strange.

Disappointing first episode. Hope it improves.

I have watched every season thusfar, but I guess I should get bored of it eventually.

first episodes are never good have to get to know the people. Thought overall this one was okay though

Jimmy Johnson got a afro!

No surprises last night. Wendy should have kept her mouth shut because anyone undecided made up their mind during her speech. That was the longest minute of my life.

First episodes are usually drama free and boring because nobody wants to rock the boat that early and the first vote usually takes out the obvious weak and/or annoying. Next episode looks like some stuff gets stirred.

Preliminary thoughts are: I like the new twist with the medallion of power. Tribe of Old Ones needs to thank their lucky stars that they didn't get the chest that had the machete in it because that is the last item you want anywhere near Matthew, I mean, Jimmy T.

Rule of thumb on alliance making: Get to know your tribemates first. That person that is just going spray every piece of information he/she has at the first available opportunity is not someone to be sharing your information with. Saw it on both sides.

Oh yeah, whatever old woman it was that said she made an alliance on day 1 was really really dumb.

nother interesting tidbit about the challenge that you did not see on TV: While the women were on the puzzle portion, Jimmy T. did something really, really stupid that I thought just might get him tossed from the game. All of a sudden, he thought it would be a good idea to try to confuse the younger tribe (La Flor, in yellow) by yelling out misdirections. ''Yellow, you're messing up big time,'' he bellowed. ''No! Turn it over! Turn it over!'' I guess he was hoping the younger girls would think it was one of their young studs barking instructions. Only problem was that the voice was so unmistakably Jimmy T.'s that all it did was confuse his own tribemates. Jimmy Johnson got testy and had to explain what a moronic thing that was and ordered the other Jimmy to stop immediately. I wouldn't go so far as to say they lost because of any of this, but if I were looking at weak links after this competition, I would have been looking straight at Jimmy T.

The first piece is obviously "excavate," but the only thing I can guess from the second piece is W (because H is between E and J, and W is between V and X) because I don't think it has to do with numbers. I don't know what that part of the ship is called, but I have a feeling that getting the first three pieces makes it much easier to figure out.

In the heat of the battle and early in the game - before real hunger sets in - I can see how a team would pick the unknown power. However, I think I woulda been pushing for the sure thing that gives your team an advantage and a higher level of comfort - fire and food.

Hindsight makes it clearly fishing gear and even more important - fire. True that oldies got fire going anyway, but what are they gonna do if they need to restart a fire after dark or on a rainy day and they can't use the glasses?

I was watching with my dad and we said we'd take the flint and fishing gear. Gotta think long run and I didn't think the unknown power would have been too huge. I wasn't sure if it'd swap or what, but I think the fishing gear would have been too much to turn down.

Flint + fishing gear is the obvious choice, since being fed and hydrated (which isn't really possible without fire) is going to be as important for challenges in the long run.

re. HII clue: Examining it closely, we have:
1. A rock/cave with crossbones above and the number 8 marked on it
2. Some kind of cipher? The LHS doesn't align exactly with the RHS, (eFGhIj against uVWx? or UvWx? depending on what the first letter on the RHS is)
3. A boat with an arrow pointing to part of the mast
4. Either a sun on the horizon or the wheel on a boat
5. Tree with random guy in it?

- H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, matching the number etched in the cave
- The crossbones is either another reference to a boat (tieing in with 3. and 4.) or the letter X as displayed in 2.

The producers probably intended for the idol not to be found after just one clue, so it's likely we'd need to see the second one. Still, it's hard to tell anything without actually being there.

#1 is excavate. I don't know if it has anything to do with the other clues, but it's definitely excavate (X CAVE 8).
