Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
That was painful. Why would the producers even cast someone with such a lack of social skills?

Well, they don't cast 20 people with the hope that any of the 20 can win. They need a couple easy, obvious boots early on. Plus, when the person has no social skills, it usually makes for good TV (as we saw from Wendy's speech).

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
I missed the first episode (I don't usually get into the show until post-merge anyways) but I was skimming this thread and after reading everyone's posts about how hot Kelly S is, I decided to check out her interview. SO MUCH WIN. She makes S19 Natalie look like a Rhodes Scholar.

"i am young and think i can use it to my advantage more i dont think its a disadvantage at all"
"regardless if you're 90 or 20 you can be just as physically competitive as anyone else"
"if i can hang in there mentally i can win"
"i might be this blonde little girl and i can prove that wrong i can be just as tough as the guys care"
"when it gets down to it when i have a conversation and can let them know who i am that in itself will theyll be able to tell i'm not just there's more to me than just the look"
"i might get a little cranky but i'm not that bitchy drama girl so that's probably not gonna be me on the show"
"in highschool i was biggest flirt and i'm not saying i'm gonna be on the show flirting with everybody but whatever needs to be done will get done"

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
good first episode... shannon is a dbag, and I can see him going deep but losing. I love how Jimmy J is playing the game. Jimmy T is a moron, and Marty kicks ass.
Why do they cast people like Wendy? She is useless

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
On the Jersey Shore Thread people have Power Rankings. I think for the sake of time we rank a top 5. Mine after Week One.
1. Marty: running shows on the old tribe
2. Shannon: funny dbag, but he should be a threat
3. Brenda: Found the power thing and is gonna play Chase. (could be epic)
4. Jimmy J: He wont last to long, but there wasn't much camera time for anyone.
5. Jane: awesome fire and could be a Shambo like.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
The editing is so manufactured now; especially annoying is what I assume is written in the series bible, "in the last segment, make exactly 2 people look like they could be the one going home". In S1 there were times when the audience was completely blindsided, and it often was not a showdown between exactly 2 candidates.
Speculation based on preview:

Sigh, just thinking about this makes me really miss Russell. They legit should have found a cast that has never heard of him with lie detectors and cast him again.

She said something about "New York Dan," and he came across as very honest, open, and opinionated about his political beliefs, so I'm just taking a stab in the dark. It could obviously be about ANYTHING, but people don't get that upset about too many topics. I can't see her sinking his shoes because he spilled some rice or chopped wood at 2AM or something.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua
1. Tyrone - Laying low but still being able to show power on the old tribe.
2. Brenda - Seeing right through Chase and watching her play him should be a treat.
3. Marty - Already trying to win over the women.
4. Jimmy J - Pretty good strategy to appear weak and to use his "leadership" to take some people far.
5. NaOnka - Looks ****ing crazy.

no different from Tocantins or Samoa opening tribal councils imo
our perception has been spoiled and skewered by the great HvsV tribal councils where everyone knew what they were doing

Does JJ have any chance to last into the middle stages?
I was pretty disappointed in the episode tbh.

franchise did you notice how cut-throat all the guys on the older tribe were with each other
-marty was collaborating with the other women
-tyrone was anti-social with everyone
-jimmy t was generally anti-social and really disliked JJ for no legitimate reason
-dan lembo was pretty invisible
