Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Ken being drunk would explain a lot! Fan favourite is in the hands of the editors, so it's not like it's any reflection on someone's stature as a player.

I'm trying to power through some of the BB seasons I haven't watched yet, and I'll post comments here since there seems to be a lot of overlap between the Survivor and BB threads. I've just started BB3, and already people are making basic, obvious errors. The first HoH competition came down to a public vote between the two people left in the contest. Julie asks people who want the first person to be HoH to raise their paddles, and every person but two does so. How do those two people not just go with the group and raise their paddles?

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

It cracks me up that Jerri was the villain and Colby was the hero in Australia. Colby admits that he lied to Jerri/Amber/Mitchell to get himself further in the game and that he planned to backstab them. Amazing that he was somehow seen as a hero.

How is this even remotely relevant when determining who played a good game?

Is Boston Rob a hero because he's not Russell? It's kinda the same thing with Colby. Also, Colby is handsome, honest, a first-level thinker, and a non-strategist. If that's not a hero, I don't know what is.

Because you win prize money when you appeal to the audience. This is something even Russell haters like myself give him credit for in his game. But as I pointed out early I was talking about the "pitching a perfect game" concept.

No one who saw season 8 considers Rob a hero. I don't know any real fans who bought that bs in HvV.

I think it's been too long since you saw season 2. Colby definitely strategizes and is far from honest. He's slightly higher than first-level thinking.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Still working through Amazon.

I just finished the "bite off as much as you can from these huge hunks of meat with your hands tied behind you back" challenge. That's one of the most strange challenges I've seen, but I think it was actually pretty cool. This seasons got some decent characters so far.

Speaking of food involved challenges, it has been YEARS since they've done a gross food eating challenge. Man I miss those. It was a staple in the early going of the series. The one time they combined it with the family challenge was da bomb.

Would love to see them bring that back.

I used to agree, but after HvsV, I'm pretty confident it was more Tina than him.

He had some embarrassing moments in HvV, but he is the one who helped get Candice out over Rupert with a pretty nice play. He was shown as below average overall, but was not without his moments.

I do think Tina did more work than him in the strategy area, but he admits to lying to Jerri/Amber as a strategy to get deeper.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

It hasn't been that long since they did a gross food challenge. They did one in Samoa with Probst manning a blender.

Those challenges get stale when they do them every season.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Looks like CBS is finally taking down the past seasons from YouTube. I understand them taking down the seasons that are out on DVD, but some of those seasons will now not be watchable anywhere

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

It really is astounding how stupid these media companies are. Their logic is baffling; see a demand for one of their products, spend all their time removing access to their product, and do nothing to provide legal access. It is like they live in some bizzaro world where people make money making sure nobody can get the product they are selling.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

I'm watching Fiji for the first time right now, just wrapping up E10. I really enjoyed this episode. It's when they're at F9, there are two HIIs in play on two different alliances, at different points in the episode there are like four people whose votes are up in the air, the target of each alliances vote switches multiple times... was just a really neat Survivor-strategy episode.

I'm actually enjoying this season a fair bit as well. Great characters, some good strategists, lots of twists that I thought definitely added something to the season. Just been a really fun season to watch.

I think Fiji is one of the more underrated seasons for pure entertainment factor. Interesting to see if your opinion changes once you have watched it all cause I know it's not to high up on many other peoples lists.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

this youtube news is awwful. hopefully they do reupload like someone said.

fiji is an extremely enjoyable season. yau is a boss. i'd like to know more of his story. How does he come about being born in Borneo to being (seemingly) very educated in America? Prob a good story there.

also, does anyone have the DVD's for some seasons? How is the quality vs the youtube uploads?

Well I'm just finishing up the F6 episode now (the car episode, where Yauman gives Dreamz the car and Dreamz insta tries to get him voted out -- PLAYING HARD -- but gets owned). Still loving the season so far.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

fiji is probably THE most underrated season from an entertainment standpoint. i think it's my favorite season aside from amazon that didn't have returning players. I also think there are underrated players on that season that are often overlooked. Alex, Earl(i know there was a recent big debate about him) and maybe even Rocky would be good re-invites. I think michelle is better then a lot of chicks who got invited back also.

Lisi was a trainwreck though and that clique's behavior pre-merge was pretty obnoxious.

there was also a pretty serious rumor about a crazy ponderosa threeway.
