Yeah, NaOnka, despite her edit, seemed smart, funny and relatively friendly. I'd love to chill with her.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

FWIW, Wikipedia now shows Fabio's five votes as: Holly, Dan, Benry, Purple Kelly, and Marty.

Also, this might make me a nit, but I'm gonna vote a big NO on a S22 thread until the full cast is announced. I don't really see the point in doing it now, and I think it would just end up doing more harm than good.

Anyone up for starting the new S22 Survivor: Redemption Island thread?

I don't see FrankieBigNuts trolling the survivor threads too much these days and since most regs have you on ignore and most newer posters quote the hell out of you, I can't help but to get involved.

Plus I believe I did make you that Boston Rob avatar upon your choice. If we "weren't cool" or whatever the hell that means, than you would have for sure gotten offered a Russell snuggling with Parvati avatar or maybe, if I was feeling extra generous, an avatar of Russell talking about his new royally appointed position as the Idol King with JT's idol in hands

Sarcasm, tone of voice, and what not due not translate well over the internet without a cluttering of asterix marks and smiley faces

I mean, if we were a bunch of cool bros and if I took my sweet ass time (~5min) to make you an avatar from one of your favorite gifs like this one:

I would generally expect you to humor me and use it as an avatar

Cool, my bad for misinterpreting.

For the record, I don't play devil's advocate. I truly believe the opinions I express here.

I hope you aren't comparing me to FrankieBigNuts. I'm going to assume you aren't and his name was thrown in there for some reason that went over my head.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Have to say this was a pretty enjoyable finale+reunion compared with the rest of the season.

Still gotta love the girl Naonka for reassuring everyone that "it was just a game" and "that's not how she is at all irl" after we've seen her countlessly tell everyone that she doesn't care if they don't like her, she is who she is, and that ain't gon change. Her words when they revisit all the people voted out made me lol too much. I <3 delusional people.

The sad part about Jane getting fan favorite is we KNOW we're going to see Jane clones for every season to come now. I'd bet people like Jane make up a huge percent of the regular viewers of the show. Also, my god how hideous she looked staring w/that make up at FTC. LOL wtf Jane. She 100% looked better on the island, which is horrible.

Did anyone understand wtf Fabio was rambling about at the reunion? Or was that just me that was like wtf is this guy speaking?

And, just so I'm clear, the people insta-duel on repemption island? As in there will only ever be one person on the island? If so, doesn't that basically mean you're ****ed if you're one of the first to get there, and it's almost always going to be one of the later people to be "redeemed?" I suppose that's probably how it should be though...

did I sell you on the Russ/JT avatar?

you gotta be willing to LAG it up and leave your comfort zone (Sandra, BRob, Holly, etc) once in a while

were you enticed enough to click the spoiler photo for S22?

Yeah I clicked it, pretty cool.

IF I were gonna take a positive Russell avatar it would be from Samoa before he went on insane monkey tilt and played like an idiot in HvV. Rewatching Samoa really reminded me of his potential. Guy is a genius when it comes to people.

That being said, I wouldn't have a Russell avatar....unless it's when Parv says to him "you wasted one."

people forget that he only had 9 days of recovery time between seasons, as they were on a tight, predetermined shooting schedule

losing that much weight/muscle must have some kind of mental effect

OH, and I think his HvsV game was still salvageable after Boston Rob's boot

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

S21: Happy Fabio won. Sick sweat when revealing the votes but overall, pretty terrible season strategy wise. Still mediocre season of Survivor is still up there.

S22: Really don't like the idea of Redemption Island. How can you outwit someone and vote them off, only to have them return in a crapshoot out of your control? I can remember Probst saying with the outcasts in S7, it violated the laws of the game and will never be repeated. I guess they had to do a Redemption type theme though, given the rumors - hope it doesn't stick though.

Thoughts going forward:

* I don't mind the medallion of power, should make the challenges pre-merge more competitive, which leads to a better post-merge show due to two strong alliances close in numbers.

* HII and Exile island please

* There was no car awarded this season was there? Probably a good thing in hindsight, as the car winners never win.

* The reunion show is just shambles, they don't even get to talk to everybody, I'd prefer if it were somehow edited to cut out all the crap parts.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Man, Purple Kelly's jury speaks interview makes it hard to believe she didn't cast a vote for Fabio. She actually makes sense for the most part in that vid too!

Holly almost assuredly voted Fabio based on her video considering she was only considering him and Sash.

Naonka didn't give us much of a hint with hers.

Jane seemingly was leaning Chase.

So the PK, Holly, Benry, Marty, Dan votes make the most sense to me.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

As far as impressions for this season go, I have to express my disappointment. How these idiots did not pick sash as sole survivor is absolutely astounding and speaks to the overall "donk logic" that is prevalent in today's society.

The majority of jurors based their decision on who to vote for on their emotions, without any emphasis on who they thought played the game the best. Marty felt betrayed by Sash so there was no chance he would get his vote despite his acknowledgement of Sash's strategic dominance. He then chose Fabio as a lesser of two evils compared with Chase who he said "got the award for biggest toolbox ever on Survivor". Alina didn't feel like she could vote for a "boy" like Fabio, and she didn't feel at all attracted to the weasely Sash relative to chase who she said "impressed her" (aka made her wet). Brenda felt betrayed by Sash, similar to Marty, and, in the end, chose Chase because it seemed she was more attracted to him (he told her how much he blindly trusted her throughout the game) compared to the boyish/asexual Fabio. Naonka chose Chase because he was her "big brother" who helped her push on through the cold of the rain in the middle stages of the game. Dan felt disgusted and offended by the backstabbing nature of Sash and Chase, leaving Fabio as his choice. Holly is a dimwit whose choice seemed based on who was the most honest person (thus she must have chosen between chase and Fabio). Based on the jury's interviews at the final tribal council, one can only conclude they did not base their choices on who was the most strategic player, but on who didn't backstab them (for the men) or who seemed the most attractive, aka best bearer of children for the women.

All considered, this season has been a huge let down for me. Sash was clearly the most strategic player in the game--a game where the objectives are to "outlast, outwit, and outplay"--and his vote total of zero is a troubling indictment of logic and an example (although not representative "lol sample size") of emotions>>>>>reason/logic that is at least prevalent to some extent in our society. I can only hope that in future seasons we might run better with competitors who think best competitor >> emotional pick. It sure will make it more exciting (and at least possible) to try and predict the players next moves in forthcoming stages (giving everyone an equal chance was probably a better means of predicting compared to sound logical reasoning in this season).

cliffs:
-jury made emotional decisions when picking sole survivor rather than choosing the best strategist.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Borneo is terrible for watching now. I missed it when it aired, but watched it a few months back and it may be my least favourite season to watch and Ive been catching up on survivor seasons a bunch since HvV started. Besides the ones I cant comment on the quality for either because I havent seen it(Vanuatu, Panama, Guatemala) and the ones that are so old in my mind that I cant remember well(Australia, Thailand, Africa) Id put it at the bottom of the list.

Other big problem with the season rankings is that I don't think Marquesas is very good either and definitely not better than China or Tocantins and I probably wouldn't put it ahead of Nicaragua either. I think Nicaragua should be somewhere in the low teens but I'm not sure where.

This list is pretty bad. Also any list that puts season 1 in the top 10 is automatically useless.

Sash played terribly. He deserved the shutout. Chase played a better strategic game and Fabio played a better social and physical game. I think Chase and Fabio both deserved the win after FTC, so I was v happy with the voting results.

Thinking Sash deserved the win shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what this game is.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Russell and Sash are essentially the same person, so I'm surprised to see Kos being so critical of Sash. I have to echo Kart in saying that Holly was the best this season ainec (although the Ponderosa vids suggest she would've had to placate a lot of haters to win at FTC). Sash showed promise early on but after Brenda went he punted at every opportunity.

The finale has soured me on this season a lot (not because Sash got shut out). On another site somebody made the point that this season had no iconic moment for people to look back on other than the quitters, which is hardly what a season should ideally be remembered for. Might have to rewatch Micronesia for the 39442598761th time to recover.

S22 might be a complete trainwreck, but according to Probst the cast is very good, so idk.

There has never been a season where a disliked but strategic player has won over a likable player. And I might add, that's the way it should be.
