I know there has been some speculation on this season but I have a few questions... How did Jimmy look on FOX today? I was working from 8am-7pm so I couldn't watch any football.

Also if you were on the Old tribe, what would your strategy be with Jimmy overall?

Last question, who does everyone pick to win? I will pick Marty

I don't know why I thought we were still like 2-3 weeks from the premiere, but holy crap, it's less than 72 hours away!

Jimmy looked...normal. He didn't look 40 pounds lighter if that's what you're asking. Not really sure what else you'd expect to see. From what he said in his bio, he appears to have the right strategy for a celebrity, which is the "take me because I can't win" angle. I don't think he can win, though, unless it's a F2 where the other person is despised.

I'm still going with Shannon to win, though I reserve the right to change my pick if he's a dummy. If they scrap the young/old thing early, I think Marty takes it. The earlier they scrap it, the better for Marty imo.

Probably gonna incur the mods' wrath for this, but can someone PM me a link to a site where I'll be able to watch live from outside the UK?

Jimmy seems pretty trustworthy and without much of a head for strategy, so if I were on the old tribe (i.e. Marty <3), I'd align with Jimmy in a heartbeat.

Did you mean Jimmy Johnson? I don't even slightly follow football, but isn't he considered one of the great coaches turned great analyst? From the little I've seen he has a great head for strategy. I do agree he seems trustworthy though.

My pick to win is still Jud. He seems to have the brains and the attitude to be a winner. My only fear for him is if he is as dominant a physical threat as he claims. I think he will be ok because they seem to have cast many physical threats this season.

I am expecting this to be a great season. I simply can't wait.

Edit: I just realized you are from the UK, so are probably even less familiar with JJ than I am.

I totally overlooked that, but I question how effectively skill in coaching translates into the ability to play Survivor. Teaching football to a bunch of people who are more or less obedient is a lot easier leadership-wise than trying to manipulate a bunch of people who are trying to get rid of you.

My one worry about this season is the size of the cast; I hope we don't get the situation we had in Cook Islands/Fiji/Samoa where there were a bunch of people we never really saw until their boot episode.

I wasn't saying the skill sets necessarily translated. I was just saying he is clearly a high level strategic thinker.

So I'm in this Survivor points pool and I need help.

You pick 5 people.

Points awarded for the following: +1 point- surviving tribal council
+1 point-your team wins food/immunity comp
+2 points-individual you have wins food/immunity comp
minus 2 points-voted off
+bunch of points-get to final 3 and more points for winning
And you pick 1 person who your "double" and earns 2x points.

WHO DO I TAKE?

Just watch the bios and take a guess. For the double, I think your best bet would be picking a young guy who isn't a threat to go out early. Chase is probably your best bet; he's the type that doesn't necessarily win but will go far 99% of the time.

(And now that I've said this, I'm sure he'll break his leg on day 4 and have to be medevac'd.)

I can't even see their videos cause I live in Canada.

I definitely want someone who will win as many challenges as possible for my double, then other potential challenge beasts. All about winning challenges in this thing.

Eh, then I recommend just listening to Cesternino's podcast. His comments are pretty spot-on imo, and it'll give you an idea of who to stay away from. I definitely think Chase is your best bet on the double, though.

I may be making this up, but havent they had a guy who was some sort of COACH on the show before? My memory is a bit foggy, but if i'm recalling correctly this COACH did not have the greatest mind for strategy.

I'm concerned all the screen time Russell got with his attitude could create a situation where people start acting similarly just to get confessional time on TV. The cast actually looks pretty exciting to me, I just hope there aren't a bunch of camera hogs.

Jud and Matt/Sash both strike me as very boom-or-bust, but it's a decent list. That old people tribe is full of so many crazy, weak, old-ass broads that Yve shouldn't be in any trouble early on, Marty is a boss, and Chase should be very good.

Any predictions on who the first boot will be? Wendy/Jane both seem equally worthless and annoying. If the young tribe loses, it's gotta be NaOnka.

Every time I see Jud talk, I just think he's bound to stay in the power alliance. That's what I'm mainly looking for. 3 young guys who will plow through the game. I saw Matt fist pound Jud and that semi sealed it for me. Shannon strikes me as someone who will make enemies early. Looks more buff than built too. Just muscles there for show. I would take the firefighter but he's black and they might be racist.

Matt and Marty definitely scare me. I feel like there's a safer pick out there but I want people who can win competitions and Matt is apparently a super athlete and Marty seems like a hyper competitive person so take a chance I guess.

The problem with selecting a generic alpha male is that they almost always get blindsided ASAP post-merge (or post-shuffle in Gabon's case):

China: James (should have been voted out at F9 if Todd had been sensible)
Micronesia: Ozzy
Gabon: Marcus (after Ken + Crystal move to Kota)
Tocantins: Brendan, then Tyson
Samoa: Erik
HvV: JT

Then again, this season has an above-average number of physical threats on both tribes, and they're too valuable to let go pre-merge unless they end up butting heads early.
