Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

If Fabio wins immunity I can imagine Sash being stupid enough to stay with Holly/Chase/Jane and vote off Dan.

So I just learned of a potential twist that completely changes the game.

EDIT: not posting so people dont get spoiled, but it changes who could be at FTC.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

my take on Sash did a complete 180 this episode, I think mostly from the clips when Jane, Chase and Holly were off on reward. he just seemed like a bumbling idiot and not nearly as eloquent as I thought he was.

I think Holly might have a tougher time winning at FTC than the thread gives it credit for. based on my (albeit limited) viewing of Ponderosa and just overall impression of the jury members thus far, I think this is a group far more likely to vote based on who they like than who they thought played the best game. actually that's a pretty lame statement by me because that's what happens most of the time anyways but I don't think Holly gets it in a cakewalk at FTC.

I don't get your point on Sugar since I would have voted for her. She was an awful player, but the other two were even worse than her. This season is shaping up the same way; we could easily have three complete duds in the FTC. Also, just to be clear: I really wasn't even rooting for Benry to win, and I'm definitely not rooting for Fabio either. I'd like to see Sash or Holly win, I just don't think either of them are good enough for me to care if they lose.
All right. I'm probably not talking to you about the hypocrisy issues if you were/are begrudgingly supportive of Sugar, and Sash/Holly. But I still think there are plenty in this thread who completely deserve my sarcasm.

If he had gone to Chase and said 'Look, I like you and want to align with you, but neither of us can beat Holly or Jane in a jury vote. However, I'll work it with my boys to ensure that you stick around as long as possible', he keeps the trust of all the remaining men and doesn't alienate Holly and Jane, who know that they were marked for elimination anyway.
I think you have some good points here. But this description of Sash's play is tickling my memory. Would we like his play any better if he pretty much acted the same way and on top of it overtly rubbed people's faces in the dirt on the way out the door? I don't think it would help his chances, but it would probably be more entertaining at least.

{squinting eyes} Can you see my hole cards? Those were nice abs. Control is the wrong word. I'll admit it. He did decide the first Shannon vote. And you'd have to show me evidence to the contrary that he wasn't a major factor in deciding the votes on his tribe following the tribe switch. In any case, the voting happened to go down in a way that directly profitted his old alliance at La Flor. Once the two tribes remerged, his social connections put him in the middle of the two groups that coincidentally ended up making all the decisions. He's got decent relationships with people on the jury and people still in the game. He has some really important Survivor skills, but I certainly agree that he just bumbles around too much.

People who are say they are good and trying to take out the evil. holly went insane earlier but recovered well. but i still couldnt really root for someone like that. i dont mind dan but i wouldnt root for him. we are all rooting for fabio just by process of elimination. sash is too boring and arrogant to root on.

i also dont think this thread thought sashs best option was to go with the men. i believe we were just hoping he would. i dont think jane and chase are jury threat. but i believe holly probably is. so i see sash getting rid of holly and going to final 3 with dan and whoever else he can. also from the ponderosa videos it looked like benry was a much bigger jury threat then this forum knew.
First, we don't have a problem with arrogance ITT. He's boring. His arrogance is not as merited as he thinks. Those are probably our real beefs. Sorry, I did it again. Speaking for the thread. Feel free to call me out as an @$$hole if I ruffled your feathers.

Well, there you have it. The recipe for gaining the support of the 2+2 Survivor thread: Control pretty much nothing. Repeatedly say, "As long as it's not me, I don't care." Act like a douchebag a couple of times while casting the vote that other people told you to cast. And top it off with a quality spite vote.
{sigh} I really thought that was one of the more amusing things I've written recently. Did anyone think it was even a little bit funny? Kart and Boc do not count.

I don't know if it helps or makes it worse, but I was aware that I was being kind of a jerk and didn't really intend anyone malice. This thread gets pretty boring when we all agree that everyone on Survivor is ******ed or unlikable and we can't figure out why we are still watching the show only to keep posting every week how everyone is ******ed and unlikable again and again. If I need to take the other side and spice things up, I'm game.

Just put me on ignore if I get too annoying. Probably save you some eye strain anyway as I tend to be wordy.

edit: I could slaughter all my arguments in favor of Chase by pointing out all the times he's been a complete buffoon, but how interesting is it to post a bunch of crap that everyone is going to agree with?

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

From Benry's interview with Rob C, I'm getting that it was awful for Alina to scurry around trying to save herself. Isn't it pretty standard to try to save yourself? I mean, not according to Brenda obv, but for most? Like wouldn't some person even go so far as to insta-vote for someone he was alligned with if it was presented to him as an alternative to himself going home?

{cringe} Was that a spoiler I just heard?

Hey. Benry just invited you guys to go have a beer with him at his bar.

Has anyone else who may have at first been annoyed with how Rob and Nicole interact with each other, really grown to love it? I'm in that camp.

Marty could surely vote for Jane to win and said she would deserve it if she got there at Tribal Council. He simply seemed pissed that he was perceived as more of a threat when he was still in it imo

I really thought that was more Marty trying to paint a target on his enemy's back than a gospel promise. I think the comments he makes at Ponderosa tend to debunk his "I'll vote for Jane/everyone will vote for Jane" speech.

the following Marty comments are paraphrased:

"The crazies are running things." --I have to believe he is referring to Jane and Co. Calling them crazies would tend to suggest he does not appreciate their methods.

"I'd like to see a good final three with at least one person in there who plays the game the way I like."

"Ideally in my mind the ideal final three would be Sash, Fabio, Dan."

It will blow me away if Marty casts a FTC vote for Jane.

Kelly to Marty: "I don't think that Fabio will be voted off because the only people that voted for Fabio were Dan and Benry."

Then, she thinks it would be smart to have a tie vote split between Sash and Chase to flush both idols. I like how Marty just humored her.

Benry looks like a sexy wolfman. Dude must pack and unpack weight like I've never seen. He lost 35 lbs in the game, and when they go back to TC in a few days he already looks a little chubbed back up.

Does Marty control pink-bathingsuit-Kelly's vote now? It suddenly sounds like she is rooting for his people instead of her former people.

I agree with whoever said she's nowhere near as much of a jury threat as people make her out to be. She hasn't done anything, and I don't think any of the current six jurors actually like her. The people still playing DO like her, though, which makes them incorrectly assume she's a lock to win if she gets there.

He said he put on 11 or 12 pounds in the three days between TCs, which seems insane to me.

Yeah all she did was provide for every camp she was at, flip to an alliance she was at the bottom of which she worked her way to the top of, helped devise and execute successful plans that ousted the biggest powerplayers in the game and win 2 individual immunities. Where do they find these awful contestants?

Kos for Casting Director!

If you ignore the strategic, social, physical, and provider parts of the game, I agree, she's done nothing at all. (wait, no I lied, she's been great TV too)

sorry. you are def not bad enough to put on ignore. i just read your posts with the wrong tone i think. i dont have a problem with you. just seems like recently your posts have been geared to please kartinken.

i think its not the scrambling thing that annoys people about alina. i think it goes back to the night she got voted off and had a conversation with fabio. he told her why he couldnt really save her. she probably only went to people to talk strategy and didnt really form any base of a relationship.

ive always liked the way rob c and nicole interact. they are really funny together.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Rob C practically invented a huge part of the strategy many great players inserted into their game.
He came up with the idea that you don't have to form rock solid alliances. He just absorbed all information that was given to him and played a good social game with almost everyone.
Then he figured out whether he was in danger in any way. If yes he simply moved the target off his back if necessary.
Plus he was entertaining and not an obvious thread. His game was very balanced to use a poker term here.

Back to this season:
Marty will never ever vote for Jane. Maybe, and that's a big maybe, if Jane's in a final two against Dan, but even then I doubt it very much.
I think Jane's chances are not that great, since she'll probably will not stand the cross-examination without harming herself. Mark my words: She will raise her voice one time to many and will start yapping like a dog. She simply can not stand any criticism and Benry, Alina and Marty won't be nice to her in that spot.
I don't like it but at this point I think Chase will take it.

She didn't really help devise the plans. She did do an excellent job of going along with them. Though you might argue that not being the planning leader is a positive attribute.
