while everything baltimore jones says is mostly true, and while i'm sure that the conditions are worse than we imagine, i'm pretty sure i wouldn't quit just because of how many of these contestants DON'T quit. if so many of these (often completely-out-of-their-element) people can make it, so can i.

Well, she's black, which means that the most likely type of 'anemia' she has is Sickle Cell Trait (Trait is more common in black people because the trait allowed you to fight off malaria, malaria was more widespread in Africa). This shouldn't be debilitating.

Even if she has a different type of anemia, there are a ton of different types and stages of each disease that cause anemia. While she may have had some sort of anemia, I highly doubt that she made it on the show with something so bad that it actually pushed her out of the game.

Most likely, she just got annoyed by the rain and came up with reasons to rationalize an early departure. She lasted for 28 days and suddenly quit when she got wet and cold. She deserves all the ridicule she gets.

i realize you're saying no single person can say they would be able to deal with all the hardship, but the fact that so few people quit make it clear how pathetic these two are...

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Chase Holly Jane
vs.
Benry Fabio Dan Sash

Since Sach and Chase have HII, my prediction is they won't have to play it until the end.
(and not dumb/strategic enough to pass it)

Next boots Prediction:
Holly/Jane
Jane/Holly
Fabio/Benry (who evers win individual immunity)
F4: Dan Sash Fabio/Benry Chase

F3: Sash Dan Fabio/Benry or Sash Dan Chase (if Chase wins final immunity)

Winner: Sash or Chase (if Chase wins final immunity)

Chase imo is a lock to win in a F3 (w/ at least votes from Holly Jane NayOnka Purple Kelly)

I want to get a 2p2 Survivor Hall of Fame going. PM me any 5 people from S1-S20, also vote for any 5 objects of the game. my votes below (I might have the same 5 as Probst):

HOF:
1. Richard Hatch
2. Parvati Shallow
3. Rob Mariano
4. Russell Hantz
5. Sandra Diaz-Twine

Object HOF:
1. JT's letter to Russell
2. Rob Cesternino's Magic 8 Ball
3. Colby's Texas Flag
4. Yau-Man's fake Idol
5. Kel's "Beef Jerky"
Object HOF: Shane's "blackberry"

Also I haven't watched the Ponderosa stuff but if Naonka and Kelly get to go there and be on the jury that's absolutely ridiculous. If you quit they should put you on a plane and ship your ass home asap.

That might be a perfect strategy for Russell H. Make everyone quit so they cannot vote against you at FTC.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

What does Sash really gain when he sticks w/ Holly/Jane/Chase. He most def will not beat any single one of them.
With Benry/Dan/Fabio he can at least get Fabio out at some stage and probably beat Benry and/or Dan.

Re: Secret Scenes

Ouch. Purple Kelly just said that Chase is not the sharpest tool in the shed. That hurts, man. I think I got a bead on what she will base her jury vote on though. "...but he's a sweet guy, and that's what matters in this game."

LOL at Fabio trying to strategize. Cute. I hope for society's sake that steps are taken to make sure he and Purple Kelly never get together.

I'm so sick of these 20 something girls saying their bodies were breaking down. Can we get a comment from nice Russell on this matter? Think back to them dragging Penner out in tears after medical said he couldn't continue.

LOL at Sash thinking Naonka might pick him to go on reward in her place. Do these people pay any attention to how this girl behaves?

I think Holly>Fabio>Jane>Chase>Sash>Benry>Dan would be the order I'd predict the winner based on if they make it to the final 3 with 2 others randomly.

i'm guess i'm rooting for holly at this point, with sash and fabio close behind. i don't want jane, chase, or dan to win (all for different reasons). benry would be a hysterical winner, so i guess that's cool as well.

You think quitters should egt to vote on who is a survivor "worthy" of a million bucks? I think they forfeited that priviledge when they quit.

I definitely see the logic behind this, but it has nothing to do with the quitters and everything to do with the remaining players. Why should Chase, for example, be punished for his best friend (NaOnka) quitting? He is presumably in good position to get her vote if he makes the finals, but why should he be penalized because she decides to quit? Kicking a quitter off the jury doesn't "punish" the quitter at all either, so you're really just hurting the remaining players imo.

Uh...you mean besides it being a ten-day vacation with free everything vs. you paying for your own flight home from a foreign country? Yeah, tough call.

Last edited by K.O.S.; 12-03-2010 at 12:46 AM. Reason: and maybe not paying the quitters isn't fair...I just don't think kicking them off the jury is a punishment to them at all

What exactly has Sash done to make everyone think he is so strategic? Formed an alliance early and convinced Marty to give up a HII. Anything else because that doesn't seem like much?

Why do we think Dan is in an alliance with Fabio and Benry? Fabio and Benry are together for sure but Dan seems to be just floating.
Why all the Sash hate, Probst?

I don't know if I'm qualified to answer this question because I end up getting really confused with all the talk regarding the difference between strategy and tactics. I could go look up the definitions, but I'm too lazy. And in any case, I feel some snarky half serious comments preparing to spill from my fingers.

I believe we here in the Survivor thread are somewhat prone to make claims that a person is strategic if 1. He/she shows rudimentary signs of intelligence--which Sash certainly has shown. 2. We like him/her. (I believe the converse of both is also true.) It is my opinion that we tend to overstate the strategic chops of players that we like and understate or completely disregard the chops of players that we don't like. Since Sash hasn't necessarily been a popular player, I'd say he probably falls under 1. Basically, in the illustrious 2+2 category of not-brain-dead.

My own personal definition of strategy is pretty broad and might be considered muddy by some. I probably use the terms plan and strategy kind of interchangably. If a player is thinking about the game in some fashion and has a plan for moving forward, then I credit them for employing a strategy. Obviously, I find some strategies to be stronger than others. (I think floating is a strategy.) I think treating people with civility is a component of a good plan/strategy. Sure it's common sense, Kos, but it's common sense you may have to work at while interacting with people whom you may not enjoy while being hungry, wet, cold, sleep deprived, etc.

Anyway, back to Sash and the things that I like about how he plays (whether it qualifies as strategic, I'll leave up to those wiser than myself): He thinks about the game. I think he evaluates the other players giving thought to who he should align with, how loyal and trustworthy his 'teammates' are to him and also to other players in the game. When he and Brenda were running things, I think he put some effort into making the other members of his alliance feel like they had a voice in what was going on. He played low key enough that Brenda got the axe before he did even though he was holding an immunity idol. He maintained working relationships with a lot of people...maybe too superficially???--time will tell. He appears to have an awareness of where he and others are at in the game. Does all this crap qualify as 'strategic'? I don't know. But he maintains a certain level of awareness and has a plan for himself. {shrug}

We think Dan is in an alliance with Fabio and Benry because they think he is. Granted, I will give you that those two haven't been the most aware players in the game.

JJ was an old man (the oldest) with a lot of days of deprivation left in front of him. Na and KP were 20 somethings with 10 days left. Not quite the same thing. Also, celebrities are treated with kid gloves, natch. Especially, elderly respected ones.
