yeah, Fincher sure made a good move flipping to Foa Foa. Great understanding of the strategic game.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

You just say such stupid things sometimes, Kos. You've got a hardon for anyone who ever makes the decision to flip alliances.

I don't blame you. The show gets boring if no one ever flips. But it's pretty tough to say that bold moves are a good way to win. How many people have ever completely bailed on an alliance and gone on to win? None have ever done it in a Fincher/Penner manner, and I'd say only Chris really ever totally screwed over jury members. In the age of the Final 3, it's even more imperative that you play nice in order to win.

Yeah, the Survivor thread is serious business. I think we were averaging well over ~500 posts per episode once the season got going.

No, I just think you will find any possible way to disagree with any post I make. Did John make a mistake by flipping? Of course. That doesn't mean he wasn't a solid strategic player, though, at least in comparison to your average castaway. You think Dave was a better strategist simply because he didn't even consider flipping? The best players at the game of chicken (which is what a tie is) are idiots because they don't consider anything other than staying loyal. Just because John flipped and made a bad decision in one scenario doesn't mean he was a poor overall strategist.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Just noticed this thread. It sucks that last season was too good for this season to really have any chance. The cast looks meh. Too many bros and there aren't that many hot chicks. Nobody looks smart based on pics alone either. Wtf is Jimmie Johnson doing on the show?

I doubt he can take it physically but if he can he might be decent. He controlled the crazy cocaine Cowoboys so these guys should be no big deal.

Also, whatsup kos. Parvati and Russ still obv #1 and #2 goats.

generally yes because ppl tend to live up to expectations from society and their look is an outcome of character/persona

Besides Russell, imo Fincher was the next best player in the game. He made his move at a bad time but at least was trying to further himself in the game. I think he was the only one against voting Erik, no? That was, imo the dumbest move of the game.

So it's been nearly 2 weeks and Shane hasn't updated his blog since everyone left for S22. I'm putting it as a near lock that he's on that season now.

I hope so, a season with Rob, Russell, and 18 newbies just doesn't seem that attractive. Now throw in some wild cards like Shane and Monica, and we have another entertaining season

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Didn't Shane say that, after being removed from S20 right before leaving for Samoa, he would never be on the show again? It obviously wouldn't surprise me if he changed his mind, though.

Monica is such a weak choice for a returning player. I get that she clashed with Russell, but...who cares?

Brett was against it, too, but you're right. I think Fincher is a solidly above average player who made one mistake, and it looked even worse because Russell was smart enough to get him out ASAP. Had it been a season full of dummies, he would have had a shot at recovering from the hole he dug for himself.

I thought Russell said he was done too, now he is one of the center pieces for S22. I think that if Shane gets $25K or whatever the All-Stars get it makes sense to come back. I just don't understand why they would bring back people who have nothing to do with Rob and Russell

She definitely has potential. She's attractive of course and has shown a spunky side. Seeing her under different circumstances will be interesting. I think it's about even money that you change your mind.

There's no good women anyway.

Because it doesn't really matter to them what the connection is, they just want good people back. They obviously want Shane on again, so they'll find an angle for him if needed.

I hope you're right, but I just hate people like her that are *proud* when they're getting booted. She was like, "I accomplished something! I pissed off Russell today! I did what I set out to do, so go me!" She didn't really do anything else either, and she wasn't a prominent character, so she seems like a weak choice.

There aren't any good women, but I just think they could find 5 or 10 better ones. The S20 rejects (Natalie from FvsF, Twila, Corrine, Shambo, etc.) are all significantly better choices than Monica.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Yeah, Parv and Cirie are about the only two good strategic female players imo, whereas there are more than enough men to make up the entire cast of an all-stars season full of good players. Even if you expand that range to include 'iconic' players (Shane, Rupert etc.), the only thing the women are good for is being eye candy.

Kos: What do you think of Brett as a player? Obv. he was invisible for half of the season (although it could have been worse; I'm watching Panama at the moment and when Nick got voted out I had never seen/heard of him before), but if he was against it too then it would seem that he's not bad, at least when compared to his tribemates.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Brett didn't really do ANYTHING strategically, so I'm not a fan. Samoa was kind of an unconventional season, though, so it's hard to tell exactly what Brett was planning (if anything). Maybe he's better than I give him credit for, but he's too much of a follower for my liking.

For Brett's credit, he tried to get everyone to vote for Fincher at one point to blindside one of the Foa Foa. I think he had ideas, but when the majority of your alliance decides to do one thing, particularly early in a merge you almost have to listen.

Once they didn't have the numbers, he was with Natalie a little bit to save himself, and voted with Foa Foa even with the immunity to get Jaison and Shambo out.

But you're right that he didn't do anything, but IDK how much of a true chance he had to do anything.
