What has Nay done poorly outside of stealing the food? If you eliminate that one move, I think she's the best player this season, maybe 2nd to Sash.

Edit: sorry, this came off more adversarial than I intended, just curious why you think she's bad.

Episode 9 Preview

Announcer: "Next time on Survivor, Naonka lets her freak flag fly"

Fabio: “This is crazy!”

Probst: “Ahhhh. God. Naonka, I think I’m speechless”

how the hell is it even logically possible for you to use this argument?

are we still talking about the "It tastes better when it's stolen Naonka"? Or are you referencing the invisible blonde girl (her name might be Naonka too, i just can't recall...)

I was talking about her as a player not a person, and it wasn't an argument it was a question.

my friend's message regarding her hate for Jane

JANE: she uses the 'southern sob story' thing way too much. Really pretentious, which is a throwback. She has a sourpuss face

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

Russell was tied to an approach that didn't factor the social game. He was overt about the "anything to win" approach. Russell was not afraid to take the lead and face the music that comes with trying to "run the show."

Nay is just plain mean-spirited. Also, I don't see her displaying the attitude that Russell had. That is, I'm in charge and I'm going to win.

I think Nay has some ideas about strategy, and she has insights into things that can work, but is without a plan to piece it all togther. If she is still there near the end, it will be because others want her there.

I don't see much of a comparison between Nay and Russell.

Also, I think we have to admit to some strange edits. If we were all on the show Nay would be gone based on what we saw. They have to be showing us her very, very, very worst moments.

I was saying I think she's played the best game if you ignore that one (albeit huge) misplay.

Honest to god, I was easily the biggest Russell fan boy ITT (and still am to a large degree) but are we really still arguing about him a year later?

No we're not. We're talking about NaOnka and Russell is just the easiest player in the show's history to compare her to.

Edit: Actually I brought him up to call out the racists/misogynists.

I'm not sure it was a better idea. It just makes you look more competent and thus more dangerous. On the surface, I thought Alina's argument was much better than Marty's for the situation. I mean people who are not in the core Sash, Brenda, Chase (and even him), Naonka, Invisible Kelly alliance SHOULD be thinking "Hmmmm, swing vote. Pawn. Girl with no allies. I need that." Instead of hunkering down until Sash and Brenda decide they have to go home. Alina was actually targeting the other potential target and someone who was eligible to go home. Seemed like the smart thing to do. But if she is making smart arguments, we can't have that, so let's vote her out.

Marty, on the other hand, seems emotionally focused on Jane. Who is immune. He is ranting about how ill advised it is to keep someone around who is immune when it's either him or Alina on this particular night. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is all cool and calculated on Marty's part--I do think he is engaged in personal battle with Jane--BUT it was still rather genius. I mean, he speared Jane. I don't know if Marty 100% believed everyone telling him he was safe and Alina would be going home, but he may have. And he may have been trying to lay groundwork for the upcoming week. Or even been thinking if he went home on this night at least he got to paint a big bulls-eye on Jane first.

Thing is, I think this business with Marty and Jane only helps Sash and Brenda. They are calling most of the shots in relative safety. They have a large pool of minions. And all the floater types should be banding together to try to take down the core power alliance, but they are too busy taking shots at each other. Marty and Jane are at each other. Dan sides with Marty and Holly sides with Jane. It makes it terribly difficult to mount a counter alliance.

I think people like Sash and Brenda are drawn to her precisely because she is a trainwreck. She just runs her mouth way to much. There is no way she can hide Detta Walker* when she is living with these people 24/7. So it was food stealing...it was always going to be something. She has been telegraphing a pending self destruct this entire game. She's bad. It's way more obvious than Russell. I mean, her arch enemies in this game have been Kelly B and Fabio. Kelly B and Fabio. I'm not saying she is incompetent at Survivor advancement. She has made very strong allies (without whom, she undoubtably would not have survived this long) and has even made some decent moves. But she was always going to self destruct. If it wasn't the food, it would be something else. Breaking the forespecial plate, perhaps.

*Detta Walker is a character in a Stephen King novel--an alternate personality. Naonka reminds me of her at times.

uh no. shes constantly played bad otherwise. she stole fabios sock after complaining about other people taking her sock. she complained about the conditions. considered quitting because of the rain. told people to there faces she didnt like them. honestly you railed on jimmy johnson for all of this stuff. but then say naonka is playing one of the best games just to be argumentative. its cool to try to come up with things to discuss and argue about. but try not to make them so ******ed.

Re: Survivor: Nicaragua

all shes done ok is make fine alliances.(which was all luck just from the split on shannon first night) this is just an insane argument. everyone in her alliance automatically has played a better game then her.

Talking about quitting is not bad play, imo, but I have to give you the rest of it. I'm not doing it just to be argumentative. I do think she's playing one of the better games so far.

You have to admit, her interactions with Alina last episode is the best gameplay anyone has shown us this season.

If you can't possibly win, you are a bad player. Russell had me fooled for an entire season. Naonka...never. Also, this insight from Probst is too good not to share:

Quote:
NAONKA NAONKA NAONKA…
Okay as I said earlier, I’ve figured out Naonka. I’m no longer surprised by anything Naonka says or does… because… did I say this already…? I finally figured her out! Eureka!

Are you ready…? Here it is…

From a maturity point of view, Naonka is a seven-year-old. That’s it. That’s my big discovery.

When dealing with Naonka you simply have to treat her as you would a first-grader. Think about it. She’s selfish. She’s a know-it-all. She’s defiant. She’s a rule tester. She denies everything and only apologizes when she is actually caught doing something. She behaves in every conceivable way as though she were seven years old.

That’s why, at the end of the day, people like Brenda can still find her a little charming. They see her like I do, like a small child. Who can be mad at a small child? It’s not the most flattering thing to say about a twenty-something, but I do believe it’s true. I’m not defending her actions – not at all – but it does make it easier for me to relate to her at tribal council.

Even I have to admit…stealing the food was one of the most brazen things I’ve ever seen on our show. Outright crazy until you remember, she’s only seven.
She can make a good play. But she's a bad player.

kind of. it just ended up working out for her luckily. she stole fruit and pans then showed her enemy who was the main target that night to be voted off. i think it was a awful idea that just happened to work out because alinas a idiot.(and sash and brenda view naonka as too valuable for now)

I was referring to her warning Alina she was going, and cultivating her vote on the jury. Showing her the fruit was kinda dumb.
