I know that there has been a lot of hate on this season to the point that the hate directed at the haters is actually becoming stale, but man, it's really frustrating.
The fact that Sash didn't give his idol to Holly to cover his bases is just infuriating. Jeff absolutely shouldn't have said as much as he did at tribal, but considering he did and knowing how dense the other 3 are, they certainly wouldn't have taken it to the next level by throwing the votes at Sash in anticipation that he would've given it to Holly. So there was, like, a 1% chance of him giving the idol up actually backfiring, and maybe a 30% chance that it would save him had Jane, Fabio, and Dan actually decided to vote for her.
As I understand it, if there is a tie and then a tie on the re-vote, EVERYONE except for the 2 people who were involved in the tie are candidates to go home, regardless of a won or played immunity idol.
The frustrating thing about this season is that we as an audience want people to root for. We root for certain contestants based on various things. The things that will get me to root for a player are: great at strategy, great at social dynamics, entertainment value, and likability (Rob C. perhaps being closest to the whole package considering he also had that lovable loser angle that probably some of us on this forum can relate to all to well) and at the end of the day, this season majorly lacks in those characters.
Yes, as far as entertainment value, this season had those characters in spades, and thank god! It's one of the few redeeming qualities of this season. So the entertainment value is very high. But the majority of them were not likable, and the VAST majority of them were terrible at strategy. Even the ones who showed us a great deal of promise with strategy ended up being busts by making majorly boneheaded or clueless moves (Sash, Marty, Brenda). In the first couple episodes, Kelly B and Alina looked to be two smart and hot chicks and they just fell by the way side too easily. And NaOnka, well, geez, that woman is a cancer upon the human race (and apparently this opinion outs me as a racist and misogynist)
Chase, a very likable guy, keeps raising the bar of incredible stupidity every episode. I have actually come to really like Holly, but I am still finding it difficult to forgive her for her ridiculousness at the beginning of the season. I am officially rooting for Fabio to win because he seems like such a genuinely nice dude, but it still pains me because of how strategically inept he has been all season.
F this season. And to respond already to the haters who will ask why I'm still watching, it's because it is still a great show and one of the most entertaining on tv. That doesn't invalidate my opinion or make me a hypocrite.
