I was sort of making a joke with both comments, but only sort of. I had refrenced the Russell = Naonka argument because it completely applied to the sentence which preceeded it. But yeah, I agree there's a difference.
The second one was also a joke...sort of. I think you may underestimate my disdain for a style of play which ensures that you can't win a jury vote. If he had picked some end game opponents that gave him his best shot it would be better, but he didn't even do that. Russell didn't get outplayed in moving himself forward in the game. For sure. If the game worked where you get points every time you decide who gets voted off, and every time you successfully play an idol, every time you find and idol, every time you pull in a new ally, etc. then Russell's game was a superfabulous second to none. But since the winner is decided by the whim of the other players, I'd like at least a little effort in maybe figuring out what is important to them and trying to appeal to them on their level. Fishbach's article had a good bit on that.
