I totally agree the bashing is absurd, especially in light of the fact that Kos has blocked Boc and me. I really will try to curb it, despite how good it feels.

I don't think adhering to a regimented topic is all that necessary. While no one budges on the actual topic of Russell, I think discussing the his strategy and the strategies of his foils are pretty useful. Love him or hate him, Russell has fundamentally changed the game. Discussion of his game will have bearing on every season from here on out.

Could just be her gameplay was specifically entailed for that season. With that, you can't just compare her to any other UTR female. Can you compare her to Purple Kelly? No, because there isn't someone as dominant as Russell this season. I think we're agreeing on this, but how do you know her game doesn't change if Russell isn't on S19?

im rewatching the episodes now. fabio was the first confessional we see then jimmy johnson. just interesting to note. first tribal council when jeff asks who feels concerned about the vote tonight. all the woman - jill. dan and jimmy johnson raise there hands. then holly tells jeff about her alliance with wendy. the chatterbox goes off.

wendy jo you gotta go.

second episode sash and naonka talk for first time. sash says brenda is smart and could be a asset. naonka says she really likes sash. so i guess that is probably a real alliance moving foward. that is pretty strong alliance of 2 with 2 idols.

holly sees jill eating some food. decides the food is bad and throws it away. dan says is she crazy? holly decides she needs to release anger towards him by putting dirt in his shoes and putting them in the water. she says "payback". feels bad about it so tells him later. debates quitting the game but a pep talk with jimmy johnson keeps her in to fight. they win immunity so she lives to fight another day

Something that dawned on me today. Yve's quote in episode 1 about the medallion of power: "Don't winners wear gold?" It could easily be misdirection, but it also could refer to Fabio's bright yellow shirt that he's worn all season.

fabio and shannon want to take out naonka. but alina and kelly b decide thats too easy and want to take out brenda. chase sides with brenda and shannon goes home. that vote finished a few peoples game.

naonka also stole fabios socks this episode.

I was sort of making a joke with both comments, but only sort of. I had refrenced the Russell = Naonka argument because it completely applied to the sentence which preceeded it. But yeah, I agree there's a difference.

The second one was also a joke...sort of. I think you may underestimate my disdain for a style of play which ensures that you can't win a jury vote. If he had picked some end game opponents that gave him his best shot it would be better, but he didn't even do that. Russell didn't get outplayed in moving himself forward in the game. For sure. If the game worked where you get points every time you decide who gets voted off, and every time you successfully play an idol, every time you find and idol, every time you pull in a new ally, etc. then Russell's game was a superfabulous second to none. But since the winner is decided by the whim of the other players, I'd like at least a little effort in maybe figuring out what is important to them and trying to appeal to them on their level. Fishbach's article had a good bit on that.

This is an actual quote from Fabio's secret scene: "I'm not just going to sit back and let other people make all the decisions. I feel like next time I am gonna step up and say, 'who is really going home, guys?' I'm gonna talk to Brenda, Purple Kelly, you know whoever is gonna have the numbers. I'm gonna say who do we want to go home. Who do we want to bring in or who do we want. You know, somebody does have to take control of this game."

I'm not sure Fabio understands the difference between sitting back and taking control. But for sure this guy's methods are the kind of methods that are classically supported in 2+2. I give him some credit for realizing that it might be dangerous to step up at this time as people seem to be looking to lop off the heads of the leadership...I didn't make this up, Boc, he said it later in the confessional.

Started to get back into this season after losing interest at the start, and finally caught up. Oh dear. The fact that Kelly didn't vote with any alliance just shows how awful everyone is playing. I don't care how dumb she is, everyone needs as many allies as they can get in this game, nobody is ever comfortable enough that they can waste an available vote like that.

I suppose it will be vaguely interesting to see how it plays out now, but please bring on the next all-star season ASAP
