After this week I dislike Jane just as much as Naonka. I felt sorry for Naonka this tribal council, everyone was telling her how bad of a person she is, and she just says, "That's who I am". kinda sad.

So "dirt squirrel" = "slut" and Benry is a steretypical fratboy as a result. And people who hate Naonka are racists.

Got it.

Not a lot of talk going on about the shocking preview of next week's episode.

So far, I've seen it suggested that they're looking at:
(1) someone pooped on the frying pan
(2) a dead animal in camp

Any other guesses?

Ants overruning the food? Camp flooded? I definitely don't think it's anything related to any of the tribe members. Just didn't seem that way from the reactions.

one thing for sure: it'll probably be disappointing

As far as shocking previews go, I'm thinking for sure this will be along the lines of Gabon, Bob: "Remember when Marcus threw the idol in the ocean? What if I told you he slipped it in his pocket and told me where he hid it?" or China: "You are not going back to camp, we still have more business to take care of here at Tribal Council."

more than

Australia, Mike: "Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" or HvV JT: "I give the hidden immunity idol to Russell."

With their reactions, I think it has to be a dead animal - like the seas turtle cut a few eps back. It isn't weather/flooding with their reaction, imo.

It's Butch Lockley pleasuring himself over the burning remains of their campsite imo.

The camp burning down seems plausible; I'm told that you can hear a crackling sound in the background of the preview video? Beyond that, some other form of damage to the camp (flooding seems unlikely though, didn't they have a heavy storm a few episodes back? You'd think that if flooding were a possibility it would've happened by now) or a dead animal is most likely.

A thought I had about the merits of booting Marty: if, as editing suggests, the La Flor alliance had broken down and there were two alliances (Benry/Fabio/Marty/Dan and Kelly/NaOnka/Holly/Jane/Chase), then Brenda and Sash are perfectly positioned to be the swing votes together at every subsequent TC. They need to target one of (women+Chase) first so that they still have the numbers to do this, and the best candidate is Chase (to preserve the Marty-Jane feud and distract attention from themselves in the process). If Brenda feels she can still control Chase to a sufficient degree, she can lobby Sash to target someone like Holly instead (targetting Kelly is easier since she's less close to NaOnka/Jane, but Kelly is a useful goat to have later in the game). That leaves the F10 as Be/D/M/F vs. N/J/K/H with Br/S as the swing votes. They can then easily target Marty at F10, flip back to take out Holly/Jane at F9, and then dictate the boot order from there on out. They need to make sure that each group that they leave behind is tight enough to stick together (so that they ensure they can eliminate someone from the other group if they want) yet unlikely to team up with the other group to target Brenda/Sash. They should be able to engineer a F5 of Brenda/Sash/Dan/x/x. NaOnka should probably occupy one spot, as she's the best goat in the world and she won't split from them. Kelly is also good to have around, because she's not a jury threat (unless the jury is very bitter) and won't lead a rebellion of her own.

As it is, they can still execute this strategy, but they have to either flip one of (women+Chase) or burn Sash's idol to avoid a 5-5 tie. The most likely case is Brenda using magical cocktease powers on Chase to get him to vote for Kelly (since he's close to NaOnka, Jane, and Holly).

Thoughts?

I think best guess is either animals raided the camp and ate all their food, or that the fire somehow got out of hand, and burned the shelter and their items and the food.

This all seems sort of dangerous. I mean they left Marty in 1 week too long is the real problem. I don't know why Sash was so obsessed with keeping his silly word that didn't really mean anything anyway. If you want to backtrack might as well backtrack to that point. I think once Marty gives up the idol he should be the #1 target. If you assume they already made that mistake, he becomes the #1 target next week (i.e. last episode).

When you are controlling the game the last thing you want is a thinking power player hanging around and you definitely don't want to remove one of his enemies while he is around.

I think Sash didn't have any real moral qualms about keeping his word or whatever, but he needs to convince Brenda to keep Marty for at least one TC, and guilt-tripping her into letting him keep his word is better than 'I want Marty around because he likes me, hates you, and will vote for me over you at the end kthx'.

I agree that it's dangerous, but the best thing about it is that, within certain constraints (i.e. which group you have to pick a target from) it allows you flexibility w.r.t the boot order. As it is, Brenda and Sash are a pair vying for supremacy in a larger alliance (their position is a lot worse than it was, say, two weeks ago, since Holly/Jane/Kelly are a solid three and Brenda/Sash need both NaOnka and Chase to stay loyal if they are to maintain control at F9 or F7) rather than a pair of vital swing votes.

I suppose this could work if they target Holly or Jane, but if they go after Chase or KellyP it becomes an issue. All of a sudden Marty has this ammo to go to say, NaOnka and whichever one they don't boot and be like "look, they turned on their alliance once, they could do it again." If he works it well enough he can get a majority to get the now obvious devious players out. Just seems really risky to not take out Marty when no one else is power playing.

I think they get back from the first challenge, to find Russell and Richard, who traveled on their own money desperately in need of tv time, engaged in a naked mud wrestling match over who is GOAT.

Book it.

The preview from my cable guide says:

Spoiler:
The tribe finds the camp in ashes after a fire; an alliance's loyalty is tested as the tribe heads to tribal council.
