41 was always going to be botched. Amateur cast, COVID quarantine, COVID delay, faux creativity to keep things exciting, shorter game, etc. Even when I was binge watching old seasons, returning players always created a more exciting season than a fresh, amateur group who lacks proper strategy.

It was a really tough spot to have to follow up the GOAT cast with a $2 mil prize, even if the fire tokens caused it to not be as great as it could have been.

Disclaimer: This has been the first season I’ve watched live. Maybe that’s creating some bias. During COVID with the lack of new shows, my fiancée and I got hooked on survivor. We watched seasons 20 and 28, since they were on Netflix. Then hit seasons 1 and 2 and jumped ahead to 11 when the hidden idols began. Then watched 11-40, skipping 20 and 28 since we had already seen them.
I think the cast seems fine, they just get overshadowed by the twists. The women's side is particularly strong IMO compared to the last few seasons sans 40.

If I could offer recommendations - Amazon (6) and Pearl Islands (7) aren't at lightening pace but both seasons contain players who proactively shift the game in surprising directions and the blindsides feel like they have way more weight to them because they build them up. Also both times the "villain" sort of lacks a filter that basically all the contestants have now which is fun.

What even is this? Just generally your comments are really stupid and cringe, nothing constructive about them and certainly nothing funny. Just a 14 year old trying to be edgy, I honestly don't know what you get out of it.

How about you just post about Survivor and ignore the posts that make you cringe. Or continue to make personal comments about posters you dont like.

Im going to do the former.
You were right. Xander had all the power this week and Evvie could have avoided that by voting him out. Big mistake.

shan is a very strong player, especially for someone so young.

if the winner of survivor was the player with the strongest social game, it would probably be her

naseer also drawing dead. that girl just totally obliterated his game when she backstabbed him. he trusted the wrong person

i wonder how much being from a different culture makes it harder to correctly judge who you can and can't trust. i'd guess it's fairly significant. and also just being different is going to make people trust you less, see you as an outsider

Shan is my favorite to win at this point.

I feel like Shan is going to get comfortable and overplay her cards somewhere along the way. But she will probably have an advantage to save herself.

Cheers. You’re right. The cast isn’t bad. But returning players always make it more interesting for me. I’m excited to see how it plays out.

I’ve heard a lot of good about Pearl Islands. I’ll probably watch 3-10 at some point.

I'd also add in Thailand (#5) because it was the first season where a guy basically ran it from start to finish like Boston Rob in Season 22. Brian was the first example of a totally dominant guy who also used a second in command like a virtuoso and Clay essentially knew he wasn't going to win even though he helped take him to the end.

Brian definitely doesn't get enough credit in the Survivor pantheon. He made it look easy. The only thing is that as a viewer, it's almost boring given how easy he made it.

What were you saying here?

Lmao anyways. Ambivalent on whether it was the right move but it was for sure the TV move.

This season has legs! One of the best episodes in season, for once I was actually on the edge of my seat watching

Shan is sick. Easily one of the best women they've cast on the show ever. Funny, smart, incredibly social, interesting background and occupation.

She's a new Survivor star IMO

He then went and called an all-black alliance post-merge for #edginess.

It's not really a mad idea, it was presented as a boot option twice in a row

I was talking about JD, which I thought was obvious when I said ‘dude’. Even if you’re dumb as a rock just watching previous seasons you know not to give away an advantage. Just proves his survivor fan background story is BS

I don't think it's BS, I just think he got played by a really great social player. I mean he's clearly not smart or particularly socially aware but what I meant with the comment was I think it has more to do with Shan being a very very good Survivor player.

Read the exits on green tribe. Brad and Sarah still had this reverance, respect and almost admiration for Shan despite her being culpable for their downfall, it's kinda hysterical.

Disagree. That’s a new level of dumb to 1. Fall for it and 2. Not having learned from previous survivors like Erik

Fair enough. I think it's bad just not particularly awful. It's actually a move we see more often recently, Aurora did it randomly and didn't pay on EOE.

As cringeworthy as JD was I really liked him. I like the energy he brought, could easily see him as a returnee

I like Shan. Have enjoyed her gameplay and confessionals. But it seemed like she kinda lost her cool with Genie after they returned from the Brad vote. And also exposed her shiftiness to JD by revealing she had information he didn't have. It's possibly a testament to her social game that she was able to back pedal off that altercation into a favorable spot with both of them. But probably shouldn't make it a habit of having to backpedal from heated comments with people you are still trying to work with.

Speaking of backpedaling...I have to give Tiffany props. She may be crap at balancing and endurance, but her hand eye coordination is spot on.

Shan has been a pretty good player so far, but that mischief song she hums tilts the **** out of me.
