That was the problem. They've already had one extra person leave outside of the plan. Could they have done it? Sure. But there would almost certainly be an episode where nothing really happened. They do need to have a set number of shows. And then everyone would be complaining about nothing happening that week. What they really need to do is not cast people that do dumb things to get them hurt.

Yes it was funny how they kept praising Matt for being such a fighter and competitor... how about mentioning that he lost his chance at a million dollars and almost cracked his skull open for absolutely no reason other than stupidity.

At least Bruce hurt himself in a challenge. Not climbing slippery jagged rocks for absolutely no reason.

They really need to 86 these turbo seasons. Not to mention having it in the same location every year being boring. Probably just wishful thinking.
Yep as soon as there was like 8 mins. left and they were still on the beach, everyone knew no one was going home. It sucks but on the flip side at least Caroline and Yam Yam are the 2 most entertaining players, and they're both still there.

Agree I don't get the appeal of these small tribes. A tribe of 3, especially when it feels like the show just started, is weak.

He ran at 100% and tried to dive under a low bar that wasn't going to move if he hit it. I maybe give him a pass the first time he hit his head, but he did it twice. That's no less stupid than Matt.

I think Jeff already confirmed that Bruce is coming back.
Maybe they go whole hog. Bring back Bruce, Matt, and that guy who left on ep 1 a few seasons back. 3 tribes

Did he ever even say why he climbed the rock? I mean what an annoying idiot and like you said they gave him such a heros edit. Not only that, he left the game because of pain. Wasn't even threatening to his health, just couldn't take a little pain. Same as leaving because you're cold or hungry.

On actual survival shows, players frequently go for a heroes exit saying they miss their kids. Like, "I realized what's important in life and I need to get home to my family." Actual reason: they are hungry and cold and need to sleep in a bed. I fully believe they miss their kids, but they knew they were going to be leaving their kids for a period of time when they decided it would be fun to flounder in the wilderness for weeks to months. When their bellies were full and they were well rested and warm, missing their kids wasn't a burning issue. Just admit you need a hamburger, people. It's understandable.

In Matthew's case, there's no way to tell how much pain he was in, but given the difficulty and odds to be overcome to get on the show, it's hard to fathom quitting due to pain. He maybe should have attempted to mitigate the pain by declining to volunteer for activities in the challenges that were going to aggravate it. He didn't do that...pain probably got worse. He seemed to be concerned he might not be healing properly due to the poor nutrition. Probably a valid concern. People have different pain tolerances and get scared they are damaging themselves by carrying on. I can't imagine quitting Survivor due to pain, but I have a repetitive strain injury to my knee that I habitually ignore in order to jog recreationally. Translation...I'm real dumb. He did what he thought was right for him and that's fine, but like some others, I do balk at the heroes edit.

My wife travels for work, a lot. Always has since I met her. These days the max is usually 3 weeks at a time, but it used to be 4 to 6 weeks frequently. I laugh whenever someone complains about being away from their family for so long. Suck it up.

I'm with you 100%. The last premerge vote/elimination, and it gets nixed?! I'd be pretty unhappy if I was someone still in the game.

I have to wonder if they nudged him to leave because they knew he had to have surgery, which would require him to be in a hospital for enough time that he'd be unable to be on the jury? But in that case, maybe just make it one less person on the jury, or I suppose they couldn't do that because of the new normal of smaller cast and shorter season?

When she travels away for work for 4 weeks does she have 0 contact with you or anyone else she knows, live off 200 calories a day and 3-4 hours sleep outside on some hard bamboo?

At least 300 of the like 320 people on Survivor who have had a family visit have broken down in tears when they see their loved one. Its not at all hard to see why they do this when you think about it for like 10 seconds

In the past? Yes. Now, it's a bit different. But she's still somewhere in Africa or Asia, occasionally South America - sometimes all three. And even though she's in larger cities (mostly) time change is a bitch and screws with her sleep, and she really needs to watch what she eats because of allergies (she always loses a good amount of weight on these trips).

And it's not just Survivor. Any show where people are away from families - like Hell's Kitchen back when I used to watch it - it's the same reaction. I understand the stress the contestants are under, but the "woe is me" after a few days of not seeing family is a bit much.

Jam Jam looks like a mix of James Harden and Rick Ross with a Puerto Rican accent. Terrific combo, hard to top.

I think we all feel this way from our couch but the fact is that almost every single person who goes on the show reacts this way for the family visit/letter, so there's probably something to the "yeah, it's a real thing". The only real counterargument is that obviously the cast of a show like this is going to lean towards extroverted and dramatic, so they are always going to be less stoic than internet message board robot commentators who have never experienced emotion.

Hilarious how the show is trying to spin Carson and Matthew breaking their repetitive challenges as a positive thing.

If the winner comes from that group of 6 they owe him a beer at the end of this.

That tribal was absolutely painful to watch. The horrible analogies are just ridiculous at this point. I miss George v Simon already.

I wish people in the game would take Carolyn more seriously.

Jaime isn't funny enough to be that arrogant. She's just annoying.

I actually feel like Heidi is probably a good player and seems likeable but she just has no edit at all so she may well be twist/idol screwed or just blindsided fairly soon.

Why? I mean...she's kind of this year's Gabler, where everyone sees her as this weird goat, but maybe she pulls it together at the end enough to win. The goal in survivor isn't being taken seriously on day 12.

I actually think she's being portrayed as the clueless idiot with no real understanding of her place in the game. Watching her fail miserably to get up the wall was a real indicator that this is one of those people who has a massively inflated self image, and any time reality exposes that you can't do anything you want to just because you have a positive mindset and manifest it to existence, their world collapses in on itself. Her vote out (especially if it comes with her playing a fake idol first) could be immensely entertaining.

Yeah, I find Jaime incredibly annoying and I agree with all of the above.

Heidi and Lauren are incredibly invisible this season, about as irrelevant as Claire.

I am enjoying the season enough to keep watching but they really need to go back to two tribes and forget these stupid six person tribes.
